Perfect Location in Puri I would say...though far away from the Marine Drive, but is adequately worthwhile.You almost get a private beach...though not private...but less crowded compared to Swargdwar side. Also life guards are constantly keep lookout.Please note all this is at the time when Gulaap Cyclone was heading for Oddissa coast. This hotel was least populated and also other not sea facing resorts around were preaty vaccant.The food from restaurant was good and you can eat here without any compromise.The response from the housekeeping staff and restaurant was polite and no complaints.All in all nothing much to say... Keep this as a good option. I suggest get the sea facing superior rooms.

We had a very pleasant experience withHotel Samudra when we,altogether ten heads and a baby of six months (7seniorCitezens)visited Puri from 10th to 13thSeptember/2021.The staff of all departments ieHousekeeping,Reception & Kitchenhave been very nice throughout ourstay of 3Nights4Days in the hotel.Due to cyclonic weather,we could not gooutside except for a short spell of 2hrs,When we went to Swargodwar for a littleshopping & a visit to temple(4 heads)In brisk rain.We had all meals,& except last daysFish curry (fried heavily to prepare curry)all other foodstaff have been very nice&homely.We thank everyone of Hotel Samudrafor their beautiful hospitality with smilingfaces.The beach is very wonderful & thereis a park.The beach was very clean withalert security guards.We had wonderful view from our rooms,so we didnt miss the sea at all.There is a paneromic view from the roof too.I would certainly recommend this propertyto those,who like to spend a quite &quality time at Puri with family & dearones.My sincere wishes to Team Samudra❤️

Visited during the month of February 2020. Couple friendly. Location is near less crowded beach. But rooms are a bit costly, considering the services. Food is good and tastes home like.

I stayed with my family and was placed in the room facing the sea. Absolutely a treat to the eyes and enjoyed every moment hearing the gush of sea waves. Food quality is awesome. They served us in the room itself. Staff there are very helpful. My car tyres got leaked and they proactively fixed that. Hotel ambience are neat and the best part is the rear gate of the hotel lands to the sea beach directly. Less crowded and clean area. The hotel has lot of planted pots around the buildings. A gym, spa room and a pool would have been an add on considering the room rents. Overall good stay.

It was a nice stay at the hotel. It was near to the new blue flag beach. The room was also clean. After check-in they provided us sanitizer, shampoo and shower gel. The location is also nice.

The location of the hotel is good. The behavior of the staffs are very polite and cooperative. For those who love bengali food, its a perfect place. They are ready to prepare food as per your taste.The maintenance of the hotel is good. The garden is beautiful. Fresh vegetables from their garden are used for cooking.Overall a nice and comfortable place.

We stayed there for 2 days with our family. This was our first stay with hotel samudra and everything was perfect and upto the mark. Rooms are spacious with all basic amenities. From check in to housekeeping to room service to check out everything was excellent. Only concerned point was restaurant food which i personally didnt like but apart from that you guys are perfect example of hospitality. Just keep it up.. your warmth of hospitality will be always remembered by us..Thanks

Location is good and the view from the balcony is also good. However, the rooms are average, something I didn’t find safe in these times.

This is normal cosy hotel that I have been using for last 30 years. It has changed a lot over the years and facilities have improved substantially. We have moved from no TV, no AC to LCD TV and all AC rooms. The staff is lazy and easy going. They are ready to help all times. The food is bit oily and as vegetarian, we have forced choices. At the rates offered, its a good choice. Its nice to meet old familiar faces on every visit.

Very good place to stay. Just beside the cleanest and low crowdy beach of Puri.1. Main drawback is The hotel is in a corner place of town. You have to pay minimum Rs.100 to travel anywhere. The only way of transport is Auto Riksha.2. If you want to enjoy night time in beach, go before 9:00PM other wise the hotel authorities will close the back gates.3. Dont take any food from this hotels restaurant. Worst foor ever tasted. You have to order before 8:30PM for dinner and very limited dishes. Breakfast you wont get any regular dishes. Only sandwich, amlet and Puri. You wont get any authentic food of Odisha/Puri.

Hospitality & food not up to the mark. Other wise ok.

The experience was nice. It is little far from Swargadar. So if you need any thing then you have to spent 100bucks to reach there. But if you are a beach lover then go for this hotel. You just need 1minute to reach to the beach. The view from room is also pleasant. All staffs are very helpful. I think they need to reevaluate their pricing for food. Its bit high.

Well maintained, good looking and nice clear view of Sea from blancony. Only 1st floor and 2nd floor rooms having sea facing facility. Apayan the resturant of the hotel is very good with Bengali food and fish. Complementary Break Fast is also with all varities of morning need. Overall cleaniness of hotel is also good. Price of room fare little bit in higher side. Overall value for money.

Our stay at Hotel Samudra situated on Chakratirth Road was very comfortable. The staff is very helpful. The hotel has its own restaurant which serve home like food (Bengali Food).Ambience of the hotel is very good as its near to the beach. One would surely enjoy stay at Hotel Samudra.

For first time, I stayed in Chakratitha Road area. I must appreciate the privacy it offers for sea bathing! There is no disturbance of outsiders, you may enjoy a good bathing with your family. Food is really good, but the hotel needs refurbishment. Seems management is not putting enough money or attention to every minute details that customers may like or praise. Far away from the din and bustle of Swargadwar area. You will like it if you are looking for a clam and cool stay!

After reading all the reviews I had a mixed thought. I booked the hotel solely based on its location. But I had concerns regarding the sewage smell problem, the food and the behavior of hotel staff based on the reviews I read. Thats why I am going to begin my review with these points. The hotel is located in the vicinity of a sewage treatment plant and our rooms were non AC balcony sea facing 203 and 204 which were in the left wing of the hotel from which we could clearly see it but it didnt smell at all. I think thats because of the 24x7 strong sea breeze which also made our decision to go without AC worth it. Food was a bit pricey and a few items like puri sabji and potol korma was average quality but the pomfret jhal was excellent. The food related issues can be taken care of by eating outside. Hotel staff were very well behaved and helpful, providing prompt service whenever called. Finally the location was awesome and just as we wanted. We had our own private sea beach which was not crowded and our balcony view was great. Everybody had a wonderful pleasant time including our toddler and elders. I hope to stay in this hotel in our next stay and would highly recommend it to my friends and family. The hotel panda was also great and I would recommend him also.

Its a wonderful place to stay in Puri. Come, quiet place in Marin Drive with very homely atmosphere. The food is excellent and all the staffs are very well behaved. Keep it up guys!

Good location. Close to sea. Few rooms have sea view from room itself. Some of the rooms have balcony facing tobsea. Only disadvantage is food. Though the hotel have its restaurant, its not upto the mark in all aspects.Entering to beach from room is good. The hotel have separate private path for entering beach. No other hotels have this unique facility.

Wow great to know this hotel still exists.I had stayed in this hotel way long back ,in the summer vaccation of 1993 with my parents and my brother while in school.As I remember beach is directly accessible from the hotel.Food was simple but good.Rooms were small but comfortable.Had a beach facing balcony.....Would love to return to this place with my kids some day!!!

Good hotel with great opportunities, but the atmosphere is toxic due to the presence of ahuge open sewer right next to it,and also a ton of mosquitoes, and not to mention the local chokdas who just happen to love this side of the beach and also teasing and taunting females who unknowingly happen to enjoy the calm breeze of the ocean in the evenings. Not suitable for families. Maybe good for a bachelor party, but not for a couple or a family. Pros : Secluded beach area, sea facing balconies, away from the shor in the city, calm environment. Awesome and really helpful stuff ( not the fake helpful kind)Cons: All the cons that come with a secluded beach. Locals drinking and smoking God knows what openly and teasing and taunting of females. Lots of mosquitoes. That awful smell from the river-like sewer right next to the property.

Great location, private beach, secured parking facility. Pocket friendly in that seaside location. Restaurant serves excellent bengali cusine. Hospitality is good.Cons: Maintenance of non ac rooms needs to be improved. Mesh to be fixed on windows to restrict unwanted pest espcially at the ground floor rooms. Parking place is also small.However, overall stay, hospitality, response of service personnel are excellent. Recommended for a peaceful stay.

I have a bad experience at Hotel samidra.  The room look was so poor and like Late 70s style. The bed is so discomfort. Bathroom is so small and it contains indian style latrin with 1.5 ft narrow . The overall observation is waste of your money with cheap service. Further the room contains 2 light bulb which costs around Rs. 20.00 out of which one bulb was breakdown. Particularly i am asking about Room number 111( ground floor) . Every service of this hotel is below what is promised . The room looks like 3rd grade Lodge. So be aware of this hotel.

Hotel is very good and family friendly. I stayed in Family suite at second floor which has big balcony and sea view is there from room as well as balcony. Just on the beach and also puri beach is 5 minutes ride. Great place.

The hotel is very good. Just in front of the beach with nice very neat and clean rooms. All the hotel rooms are Sea Facing. Apart from it Hotel resturant has very good quality of food. And the rates are also reasonable. The most important thing is the Beach Area in front of this hotel is very clean. apart from any other beach.

Upwardly beach facing hotel with fine dining, especially Bengali delicacies, facility. Plenty of staffs to take care of guests. Dedicated and very honest Panda who will take care of your puja and Shri Jagannath darshan. The beach in front has been converted to Model Beach by the Odhisa govt which is an extra facility for the guests. Worth staying !!!

The location is really nice and so quite beach can hear the sea sore music in night . Also very good areangment for going to spiritual temple . The staffs are very co operative and very kind. Foods are awesome .

Good seafashing hotel.I stay more then 5 day. I am enjoy alot...

Location and view is the only thing this hotel offers. For around ..per night we got old off coloured due to excessive use bedsheets and towels, the exact ones you get in trains. There is foul smell from drain nearby in the hotel in all common areas and rooms if you open balcony and windows. You get similar room amenities in less than ..in Mumbai and kolkata.Reception and housekeeping closes at 11 pm. We ran out of water with no option around 11:30 pm. Hotel restaurant is OK for basic local food.

This hotel is located @Model beach Puri. Excellent location. Testy Bengali foods are available. Attitude of Housing staff and restaurant are highly appreacible. Reception they asked Identity card of all members. Rooms are smaller in sizes. Pigeon are there in balcony.

Super expensive 3star hotel

We stayed at hotel Samudra for 3 days. Overall it was very pleasant experience. Hotel staff is very cooperative. Location of hotel is good and food is also good and fairy priced.

The Hotel is close of the beach however it is the last hotel in that lane, away from the main-market area of Swarg Dwar. Sea view from the room was is not very good. We had booked a family suite and it was actually side-view instead of sea-facing room. Also, there is a sewage treatment plant adjacent to the hotel so if you take a non-AC room and open the windows, it is bound to stink. There was some issue with the AC in the room but that was rectified by the hotel staff. The price is towards the higher side and one can look for other options also in the same price range or lower. Limited options in Breakfast menu, though the food is reasonably priced.

Booked the suite room which was in the back, only side view of the sea. In front was terrace where I found the garment and undergarments of other guests where hanging to block the view of the sea; so disgusting! After having dinner at 10.00pm they called me at 11.00 pm to pay the bill and by that time I felt asleep. My wife told that it will be paid next day before check out, but they again called after 15 min to pay the bill, as it was year ending. I never stayed in such type of hotel who wake up the boarder to pay bill in midnight. Never suggest anyone to stay here as there are hundreds of better options in Puri. I visited Puri more than 15 times, but never experienced such.

On 24.10 2019,i alongwith my family visited puri we stayed at hotal samudra i found everything nice ,if i again visite puri i will stay at hotal Samudra.

Pretty old hotel.. In dire need of renovations... But its near to beach with few rooms providing sea view....Food is average...

USP of the hotel is its location which is bang on the beach. The back of the hotel opens to the beach. It has very limited parking space may be holding 6/7 hachbacks at a time. The rooms are comfortable and mid segment rooms.Avoid the food as far as one can.Average place to stay for a couple of days.No WiFi in the hotel

Its a good hotel if youre concern for a leisure in a quit place. Its in Puri 2 and 10 minutes far from swargadwar. Very pleasant area and can hear roar of tide. Sea can be viewed from balcony.

The Non-AC rooms are very dirty at places like door knobs and latches which needs to be touched often, although the floors were clean. The room walls were damp. The linen was clean. Bathroom was clean but the geyser leaked water. Parking is available within the hotel premises. All rooms have a sea-view.

The hotel is well located and rooms tastefully done. The food is terrible and the restaurant staff are very indifferent. The breakfast is very ordinary and inspite of items written on the menu card it is not served. They dont provide fresh juice but give frooti in tiny cups. And they are not apologetic. Most of the items in the menu card are not available. Housekeeping is good and very courteous. The reception desk does not start before 6 am and you will have to wait till they come. You will have to pay for the tent on the beach. The hotel does not provide for it.

Away from the crowded beach hotels of Swargadwar, it is a beautiful place to stay. Tranquil blue sea is visible from all the rooms. Kitchen serves quality food.

It is one of the oldest hotels in the area. It is closer to railway station, couple of well known temples - sonar gouranga and hanuman bedi. Actually it is walkable, one may just walk down during evening when it is not warm and humid. Location of the hotel is good, however entry road to the hotel is not impressive. Seemed safe and secured. Room and room service was at par, in fact better if compare the price. Except the family rooms all rooms have sea view balcony. Room 302 is the best one. One can enjoy sitting at the beach or balcony, or the open terrace on the second floor.Back gate leads directly to the beach that is mostly used by guests. One can enjoy evening on the beach comfortably. Kids play cricket on the beach at a cemented pitch on the beach.Reception arranged for autos at the precise time when requested for. One may alternatively can walk 40-50 yards towards Mayfair to auto stand. Autos are available almost round the clock except midnight.Quality and quantity of food was good. Got 3 choices on breakfast, that came as complimentary. Of course one can place an order if looking for something specific, that is invoiced to customer. Liked the taste of food. Guests from eastern part of country will tend to appreciate the taste more. There are other restaurants around at walkable distance, if someone wants to explore.For temple visit I request for the hotel priest. We were happy with the way Priest took as around the temple.Given past experience at one of the 4 star rated hotel, this budget hotel is pretty impressive. Hotel staff were warm, and took care of everything. In fact, room service called to remind us for dinner. I was checking-out at dawn, night before I was asked if I needed an early morning call and vehicle.I will like to stay at this hotel again on my repeat visit. Thanks to all hotel staffs and managers who made our stay comfortable.

DONT EVER BOOK IT OR READY FOR DISASTER.... Worst hotel, Dirty and poor rooms and the darkest point of the hotel is rude and bad mannered staff. Who does not know how to talk and deal with families. They treat guest like their labor staff and dont no courtesy for even senior citizen guests and females. They book rooms at very cheap rates and upon check in they provide the worst to worst room like 100 year old lodge or Dharamshal. Which guest definitely deny and ask for other room, then they will say hotel is fully booked and you will have to take our higher category of room at 4 times costly than you booked. Its there scheme to invite guest and upsell the costliest room of the hotel by allot them a dirty and non standard room. They all know know one comes regularly to Puri its once a while only and we should pull money as more as we can from the guest. They are not worried abt any action, feedback, govt or any tourism authority.  DONT EVER BOOK IT OR READY FOR DISASTER....
