Recent visit , was an eye opener, great audiences, guru ji despite communicating with the group on Facebook live, had a simple conversation with me laughing away. It proved the strength of my heritage and his simplicity .

Its one of four mutts which was formed by Adi sankaracharya, its an amazing place to visit, very calm, clean and nicely maintained. They have rooms as well, which you have to book in advance and come. Its very near to the Puri Beach and Market.

THE STAFF/ PANDITS ARE VERY BAD AND THEY ARE VERY RUDE....THE STAY WAS VERY BAD AS WELL...THEY DIDNT EVEN BOTHER TO GIVE A STAND FAN AND GAVE US VERY BAD ROOMS...VERY BAD EXPERIENCE

Govardhan Peetham is established by Sri Shankaracharya. This is one of the 4 Mathas established by him. This is the most peaceful place in entire Puri. Excellent devine place to visit in Puri. Walkable distance from Puri beach. Have a blissful evening here after visiting puri beach.

The Govardhana matha is a monastery located in Puri in Odisha. It is associated with the Jagannathtemple and is one of the four cardinal mathas founded by Adi Shankara in the 8th century CE. The deities here are Jagannath (Bhairava) and the devi is Vimala (Bhairavi). The mahavakya is Prajnana Brahma. There are Shri Vigraha of Goverdhananatha Krishna and Ardhanareshwara Shiva installed by Adi Shankara. The whole of the Eastern part of the Indian subcontinent is considered as the territory of Sri Govardhan Peeth. This includes the Indian states of Bihar, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Andhra Pradesh till Rajamundry, Odisha, West Bengal, Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Sikkim, Meghalaya, Tripura, Mizoram, and Uttar Pradesh till Prayag. In The East Gate of India Adi Shankaracharya founded the math at Puri named as Govardhan math. he put four temples on four sides of the country to protect any kind of an unexpected invasion or the boundary Gate to protect Hindu religion from outside invasion. other three Maths? In the north in Uttarakhand Sharda math, West at Dwaraka, and Sringeri Math in the south.

Good place, it has a spiritual atmosphere. It has one temple inside and one more Vimala temple outside. The vimala temple is very beautiful and it has a nice pond. The other temple which is inside is the main place for their regular worship and bhoga offering.This has rooms available. New rooms are good. Also for festival purposes two big halls are there. Halls have separate bathroom while rooms has attached bathroom. All the three time prasad is available in a day. The amazing part of it is that all the food and lasting are free. There is no demand of money. One can donate as per his satisfaction and capability.It has a garden which contains some flower trees and Rudraksh tree. This place is also known as Shankaracharya ashram because the head of this matha Shankaracharya stays here. They conduct many sat sanga programs. If you want to take darshan of Shankaracharya then generally he would be available in the evening and meets people in room in 2nd floor.There is a vedic gurukul. Many boys study Veda here and thay can be seen during breakfast, lunch and dinner time. They generally serve during these times. Another set of staff are there who take care of other management there. Only things I didnt like was some staff members behave a bit rudely. Else its a good place. Best if you have a contact of someone there.
