We, 4 people went to Tikona fort on 20th Oct, it was a very nice experience. Although a red alert gave in Pune District, still most part of the day it was light drizzling. Route to till the base of fort is very nice and scenic. Tikona is small but one of the important fort is Maval region. It took almost 45 mins to hour to reach to the top. Trek is very simple and easy. Only the Balekilla portion of the bit tricky. It was very cloudy over there at the top. So overall its easy and simple trek.

Tikona Fort, 50km away from Pune, via Pune - Somatane Fata - Pawnanagar - Tikona peth and Pune- Paud- Tikona Peth. Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj renamed this to Vitanddgad,It took almost 1 hr to reach on top of fort... Tikona one of fort which Shivaji Maharaj give up in Treaty of Purandar. Non Profit Organisations like Shivdurg Pratishthan are doing gr8 job for preserving the fort.

A really awesome trek.Had started from pimpri, reached Tikona in 1.5 hours. The beauty of the hills can be seen in the photos i have tagged along which i had clicked on my journey up.The trek started off with a good uphill(an angulated )climb followed by a normal to moderate climb. In the end there were a few 15 to 20 steps which were literally 80 degrees.Thank god they had ropes there and then there was The Fort. A beutifully created and located fort , with a good height.Total trek time including climb stay and back took 2 hours.

It was good for beginners but if you looking for some more thrill and adventure, you will miss here. In rainy season atmosphere were foggy at top of the fort. It, s better to carry water over the top, vehicle can go to the base of the fort. 1to1.5 hrs. take to reach at top. Route is easy. Food and shelter availability is ok and slightly costly as compared to their quality.
