I am an artist creating large paintings. To take photos of my artwork I have Nikon D5200 and 35mm prime lens with Hota HD circular polarizing filter, X Rite Passport, tripod, 4 x 500w halogen lights putting 2 each both sides at 30 to 40 degrees both sides, taking photos at F8 to F11, ISO 100 Aperture priority mode, timer 10s. Opposite facing wall blacked out too. Everything appears to be correct. BUT. Still the photos do not come out sharp enough and the colours (especially reds) dull. Overall, photographs of my paintings fail to capture the colour vibrancy of my paintings when placed side by side. Outside in sunlight it is good. BUT problem is that I live in flat and have no option but to photograph my large paintings indoors. Kindly help. Should I dump halogen and go in for strobes?
