First thing first, if you are an avid lover of Bengali Biryani then dont try here. Your quest for bengali biryani wont stop here. The aloo wasnt having taste n the rice was having only the smell of Ator n not the flavor.Ordered Fish fry n moghlai as well. The 3 stars r for these two. Price is on the higher side.Coming to sweets, rasagolla was like the kc das type the sponge ones n not the soft ones.
Apyayan – Ilish (Hilsha) festival review+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++While browsing through some restaurant searching App, we stumble on a post that Ilish festival is ongoing in Apyayan from 3rd to 19th August. We have been at both Aundh and Wakad outlets before and liked their Bong delicacies. As we didn’t cook hilsha much at home in this season, we thought of giving it a try.Food (3/5) :-Ilish Finger : In starter, we ordered Ilish finger where 4 pieces were served. The amount of Hilsha inside stuffing was okay but the coating was not crunchy or crispy. The coating was thick and made of flour or cornflour rather than breadcrumb which made it soft. Moreover it seemed the fingers are not freshly fried rather warmed in a microwave.Boneless Ilish Paturi: Paturi was excellent and we had with steamed rice. The amount of mustard was perfect which didn’t make the taste pungent. Quantity of Hilsha inside Paturi was good. However instead of coconut paste, poppy seed (Posto) paste would have been better ingredient.Ilish Biriyani : Biriyani was a bit of turn off as the rice from chicken/mutton biriyani served with 2 pieces of Hilsha added separately. There was no aroma of Hilsha in the biriyani rather Kewra flavour used in chicken/mutton biryani was dominating. As you see in the picture, Hilsha was over fried which could be another reason why aroma of Hilsha was missing in the Biriyani.Cost (3/5) :-Hilsha is a premium fish; comes at a premium price (Rs. 1200-1400/kg in retail). So it’s expected prices of Hilsha dishes would be on a higher side. But if the premium prices doesn’t reflect in the quality of the servings then the prices looks exorbitant!Service (4/5):-Service staff was polite and courteous. He sought feedback too for the dishes served but wasn’t trained enough to handle the feedback received. One point is deducted due to incorrect billing done initially. But I must admit they have accepted the mistake and given an instant apology.P.S – This review is written purely on the special dishes served in Ilish Festival only.
This place is not just for Bengali folks out there in Pune but for everyone😊. Anyone who loves or want to try Bengali cuisines can come and enjoy. Food here is pretty much close to what you can find in Kolkata or any other place in West Bengal. I myself belong from Kolkata so I can definitely say that. Although there is one difference though, if you were having Bengali food in Kolkata or any other place in Bengal, then it wouldnt be as pricy as it is here😉. Hence one star less. But I dont mind visiting this place once in a while, even though their high prices because at least you get authentic Bengali food in return which satisfies you and your tummy😋I have been to other Bengali restaurant in Wakad area.I would rather choose to go this restaurant instead, as they have better service, have clean and hygienic environment. Definitely recommend. My personal favorite items from their menu are: Fish Fry, Chicken Cutlet, Doi Rui, Chicken Rezala, Chingri Malaikari, Mutton Biriyani. And yes, biriyanis here are served with one aloo and egg as we get in Bengal 😊😊
I am giving them a five-star rating solely because of the home like taste of the Bengali cusine. Its an absolute place to taste Bengali dishes, particularly the variety of fishes. Also you can get Bengali style cooked chicken and mutton. The prices are very much reasonable.People (specially Bengali) love to visit this place. I can definitely assure you, it is a nice place to get a bengali taste, particularly if u want to try fishes. Even a variety of Bengali deserts are also present.I would want to highly recommend the apayaan restaurant owner to come up with some more outlets within the Pune city.
This place is heaven for all food lovers who loves bong foods. Bengalis staying in Pune or any parts of Maharashtra would request to visit this place and go for the authentic platters they have. I cant believe I had Fish Fry in Pune which was awesome. They also serve Kolkata style biriyani with alu and boiled egg. The biriyani had that same flavor and aroma. The owner is a Bengali gentleman and so are the staffs. The food is worth the value and not going to dig a hole in your pocket. I feel blessed to find such an awesome place so many kilometers away from the City Of Joy.
Very good restaurant for all Bengali People.. You can get any Bengali Dishes and sweets in here.. Ambience is Awesome and the food quality is good.. tasty.. price is reasonable. You can get a special discount on your bill value (600rupees) and above.. Stuffs are good and also the manager is very polite..
A overpriced bengali restaurant. Taste is good but the price is much higher.
No outlet in pune
If you love fish, go to apyayan. It will not disappoint you. The taste of food is really good and my rating is based on taste of food only. The service can be enhanced to my favourite place. But still you love Bengali taste then visit this.
Tried Bhetki Fish fry and taste was good. The Mustard base gives it a different flavor. Also the Chicken 🍗 biryani was different than other biryani’s served(I Don’t know how Bengali food tastes 😬)
Worth everything it took a lunch there. Cozy comfy place, good for youngsters. Liked the ambience, neither too brought nor too dark. And the boy who waited, he was very polite, decent, helpful and he ensured a great service throughout.
Rats move freely near the water tank and they can be seen from the seating tables. The Rats also move freely through the ceiling.Taste is good if you want to gamble with health
Really amazing food on a reasonable price...good place to hang out for Bengalis in Pune..I love this restaurant...Mouthwatering dishes they have.. everytime I get confused over which one to select....Every staff is very much friendly...they will help you with utmost care...
Good place to have non veg food spl seafood..i had some dish called fish with semiya...served for two people hot hot straight into the mouth buttery soft...fantastic one
Authentic Bengali foods. Food quality very good price little bit higher side
Desserts were just ok, not like an authentic Bengali sweet..Fish was good.. Many varieties..Fish lovers can give it a shot!!
Amazing food, friendly staff and good ambience. Place is pretty simple, clean and authentic. Reasonable price, taste is very much Bengali 👍
Very authentic Bengali food is served here. Service is customer friendly. Variety is good. Food is fresh. Some sweet items are seasonal and good.
Dont waste your time trying to find this place. The restaurant has closed and there is a for rent sign on the shutters. The crooks did not even bother to put up a proper signage to inform patrons about this closure - the very same patrons who helped them succeed. This is why most bengalis never succeed in business because they do not give a dam about customers.
Where else to go if you want to order Bengali food as per your choice from a lot of variety. You will get very authentic dishes like mocha, enchor, and so many others. I just love this place for food.
Gives a good taste of bengali food in Pune!
Found hair and a cooked fly in my food. Cant imagine the hygiene level they maintain. And the replacement they gave us replaced our mutton dish with chicken. Cannot recommend.
Food quality is very good.. service is very good..
I would rate this place 3.5 stars interms of pricing as it is bit costly no much but it is. In terms of variety and taste its good and I would rate it 4 stars. Bangolis living near by can try this once.
Quality of food has degraded over the past two years. Quantity is less. Can barely suffice one, let alone, two. Ahaa Bangali, the restaurant next door is giving Apyayan a run for its money.
The price is too high for an avg food, the quantity of food is less compared to the price. If they are marketing it as bengali food, I am disappointed... Needs a lot of improvement.. service was good though.. but then if food sucks, everything else sucks too.
Worst place to have bengali food. Except for the menu card there is nothing bengali in it. Food was oily, tasteless. Katla fish was stale and smelly. DO NOT think of visiting this place ever. Wasted 2000 rupees today. I wanted to give 0 stars, but that is not possible.
Good Bengali food. Reasonably priced. Parallel parking in the front road.
Authentic bengali delicacies are available. Price is a bit high .Though uber eats you get huge discounts.
Very tasty food. Rui- sorshe and chicken kosha was yumm. Must try!😍
Real Bengali food items.... I really loved it so much.... You can blindly go and eat any of the dishes and you will feel like you are at Kolkata...
Only Bengali food is good but chicken biryani is not so good to eat
Taste of food was 3 out of 5 .Very basic hotel. Thali meel need to improve as per charge they cost for it.Rest is 3 out of 5.
Its a good place to have Bengali food. The food is close to what authentic Bengali food should be. Ambiance is ok.
Earlier I came this restaurant two years back at the time of admission if my Son at NICMAR Quality of foods is very good behavior of staff are also very good. Today I again visited here with my family and again found same good quality food and same behavior of staff and owner of Appayan.
Popular joint for bengali food. Okay pricing. service is good. But being a bengali myself i wud say, food is okay. Quality could improve.
Good for people who love Bengali Cuisine. Must try fish fingers, mochar chop, chicken cutlet in starters. In main course, you must prawn tomato curry, pulav and mutton kossa. While food is awesome, the ambience, cleanliness can be improved and last thing they need to behave well to their customers.
Authentic Bengali cousin is the speciality of this place. The service is quick and professional. The veg thali along with fish curry is quite a delight.Overall good place to rejuvenate your bong taste buds.
Awesome mutton taste.... varieties of mutton taste is good quantity is good quality is good..A good bangali touch...
Went here for Mughlai Paratha but it was not upto mark. The best dish here is Baked Rasgolla. That tastes really awesome.
Unnecessarily overpriced ! They got a tendency of compromising quality of food too.Last time I visited this restaurant on Poila Boishakh. They charged a buffet menu for 999 and overall menu was too ordinary. The mutton they used was just pathetic (quality wise ). I complained the same to the restaurant manager but nothing was being done.I confirm that being my last visit to this place.Personally I would not suggest anybody to visit this restaurant !Terribly disappointed with it.
Worst food experience. Found rubber band in biryani. The food was cold and tasted almost stale. Bad customer service.
Worst food ever. They made me to order plain dal and roti because normal thali was taking ½ hr wait time. But they brought the dal and roti in the same waiting time. And dal was not even good, it was blended with sugar (yuk) and roti with little sweetness. I asked them for curd and I got miski dahi that was another sweet dish. Actually when I asked him Do you have curd? He said which one you want? I replied what are all youve got? He said only miski. If thats the only answer, then there is no need to ask me which one you want? After all I paid Rs263/-, I managed to finish it. This place is very expensive and not good.
Brilliant flavours and very welcoming hosts. I thoroughly recommend this for a quiet and delicious meal.
Good option if u are looking for Bengal food in wakad area. Fish and non-veg they serve is fresh and tasty. Taste wise i will say food is 70% tending toward authentic bengali. A scope of improvement is there. Seating is avg , nothing fancy Just gets the job done.Staff is very helpful and courteous. They even help u out if u are bit new to bengali food like me. Pricing wise i will say their food is well priced.
Wakad apyayan food quality is not at all good, aundh apyayan is much better
Ambience and staff behavior is really good. Food is good a well. Doi katla and bhapa bhetki is worth mentioning. However a bit on the expensive side. Outside this shop there is a local ice cream parlour; sells cone for 30rs. That should be on ones list as well.
Dint liked it, please dont go if you are not a fan of bangali food. I dint liked it...Not even the normal food was good enough for me...
Sera khabar, sera poribesh. Try their special thali, delicious!!
Authentic and awesome bengali cuisine. Kosha mangsho and luchi are must try
One of my friends suggested a apyanan biryani is good from others ..so I tried it as they give some mix of potato which was very tasty and then egg ,chicken leg pieces...taste good ... different from other biryani ones....nice tasty ...
Good Bengali food with lots of options. Good service as well. Recommended.
Consistent good quality bengali food n sweets
Food quality is good. Service also good. Price is bit high in comparison to taste. All over a good place to have bengali cusine.
The best place to get Bengali food in Pune... Though some of the dishes depends on availability...
Good and authentic Bengali dishes. Fish fry is of great quality. Sweets are little costly.
Its a sweet little authentic, sorta, Bengali restaurant. The ambience is neutral. Food is a tad bit expensive and also quantity is a tad bit low. A one time dine out for me.
Oil was stinking...fish was nice..average ambience ...I will prefer the main branch at Aundh rather than this one at wakad
Bengali food avl... r ki chai
Decent food , a bit over priced compared to the food quality. And I didnt find the waiter that good.
This is called Bengali restaurant m fish lover of fresh water only.this place is only for fresh water fish dishes.they provided all kind of fish related Bengali dishes.the taste remembered me my home.its really nice.i advice you to take rohi fish jhal..
Nice and cozy restaurant near to Pune-Bangalore Highway. Authentic Bengali food. Price little bit on the higher side.
Tasty food. Mutton biryani isnt suggested. Otherwise good enough.
Food is really goooooood!!! cost is quite reasonable....wish the ambiance would have been the same then this place would have been one of the most happening places in the area.
Fish is good . For vegetarian less varieties are available also taste is ok ok
Completely worst and definitely not upto that standard where it can call itself a bengali restaurant..and on top of that high price compare to the food they serve..and apart from main course, they are also not giving good sweets..
Very good bengali food nice waiters and very clean
Very nice place and very nice services
I had two extreme experience with this. One was very bad and one was two good. But i will go with the good one. Nice non veg dishes. Chef as well as the staff are bengali. So they know their stuff. Good kosha murgi.
Loved the food. I am a bengali so trying not to be biased. ;) But if you are a food lover try the Chicken Kosha.
Very good behaviour of this Wakad outlet. Very Good food. Fish, motton, chicken items are delicious. Sweets are good. You can enjiy food with your family, friends, alone what ever way you like. Overall good. But they have another outlet at Aundh. Most useless people are there at Aundh outlet. They dont know how to behave with customers. Owner should look into that Aundh outlet.
We stopped by for what looked like authentic Bengali Mishti. We got a piece of Aam Sondesh, Kheer Kadam and Kamala Bhog (₹20 a piece). They were all rock hard. It might well be considered sacrilege to call it Bengali Mishti !! Avoid !!
Typically bengali food. If ur foodie nd ur missing on bengali food this is the place u must visit.
Good option for bengali food..but taste of kolkata has better taste and ambience
Nice place and good behavior, service is bit laggy and good is ok
Good Bengali food. Should try apyayan special thali
Great choice for Bengali food lovers. They also arrange seasonal buffet/food festival like Bengali new year buffet, Ilish festival etc. My favorites are fish chop, moghlai, tawa chicken kosa, chom chom. Go and enjoy Bengali food guys!!
We are dining here at appayan so writing a live experience, the food is good, the only problem that I faced was with the captain ( the main head ) here . We had ordered mochar ghonto which was absolutely not like mochar ghonto, we informed the waiter about the problem and asked him to inform their head, he came back this is how we prepare, so we accepted and took servings. To our surprise when I spoke to the head captain about this he said we should have returned the dish. We asked him to replace the remaining portion which he was not willing. I guess they need to be more authentic with their specialisation and their staff needs to be more humble.
Tried Sweets Like Rosogulla and Gulab Jamun here...They were good.
Keep up the good taste and services rolling..Look forward to another visit soon!
This probably the only decent dining place for bengali cuisine. This outlet in wakad is very close to datta mandir and Hinjewadi bridge connecting wakad with Hinjewadi. The curries are tasty however too much hot and spicy to my liking. Dal is excellent as the chutneys love their Kolkata Biryani. However please keep in mind the rice they use might not suit some people who are allergic to atop chaal. I always felt stomach pain every time after eating their rice.
A good small cozy place to relish Bengali cusine. Decent but nothing wonderful to Boast about.
Biryani... One of the best in town.... Mutton kosha... So yummy... Highly recommended for those who miss bengali cuisine in Pune...
Nice place, service was good, staff was good... I ordered mutton kosha and katla kalia. Both the gravies were sweet in taste which was not at all expected from a Bengali nonveg dish. It was a complete disappointment as we drove 22 kms to have an authentic Bengali food.
Ambiance and quality of food is good, but its too costly! Taste of the food is normal.
Kolkata money podey gelo
Good Bengali cuisine restaurant.. a bit expensive dishes.. had to wait a lot.. but it was worth it..
Quality food.... Taste of Bengali but price is little high
Very poor service, rooms are pathetic..Only one option was there in the breakfast. Very unhygienic bathroom. Very bad experience
Good place for authentic Bengali cuisine. Love this food joint.
