This dilapidated Wada once held the first school for girls in India which was initiated by Mahatma Phule and Savitribai Phule. There is a small sign board on the street but no one really notices it. This Wada is an important historical monument and needs to be repaired and brought back to its former glory.

I am looking for the Governments action for the renovation of bhidewala- where first women school started by Mahatma Phule and Aai Jyotibai Phule. This is sad reality of India. Government building big statues of other people and not doing anything for the real heros of our society.

The place is counting its last days. Its a thing of shame to us. The first girls school was started here by Mahatma Jyotiba Phule and his wife Savitribai Phule. Today the condition of this wada is in very poor state. Pune is called as hometown of education also the pune university was a former name, then renamed later into Savitribai Phule University. Such a big name in field of education and we cant even keep its ancient history intact. Government should look after into this matter seriously as its the pride of our nation and should be declared as national monument.

Bhide Wada is not just a part of history, it helped create history! It assumes much significance as it served as the location of the first school for girls in the whole country. Way back in 1848, Savitribai Phule and her husband Jyotirao Phule took the revolutionary step of setting up a school for educating girls in this wada. Despite severe opposition from various sides, they managed to continue with their efforts to educate women. The property may not be in the best of shape today, but a visit is still worth your time.Location: MH SH 114, Tulshibaug, Budhwar Peth, PuneTimings: NAEntry Fee: No entry fee

Its one of the historical place in pune but government of maharashtra and archaeological department ignoring from its development. Why government can not make memorial here for the extension of Jotiba and Savitri Phule Principles. Government can earn the revenue also by making national memorial here. सरळ सांगतो सरकार भैताड आहे आणि डोक्यावर पडलं आहे म्हणून त्यांना असं काही सुचत नाही बघा.

The structure of Bhide wada is in its last phase. But it has a historical tag attached to it. On 1st January, 1848 an untouchable caste, who is denied education as per Hindu religious rules that is, Mahatma Phule along with his wife Savitribai started Indias first school for girls at this place. Its the most important part of Culture of Pune. But neglected due to caste biased of people in power and administration. Hope government declares the place as national monument.

One of the most important landmark of India regarding Education of Woman .... The birthplace of woman education of India. Salute to this place ....On January 1, 1848, Jyotiba, along with Savitrimai and Fatimamai, started the first girls school at Bhidewada in Tatyarao Bhide. It was an unprecedented revolutionary event. This incident ushered in a new revolution in India. Muktai, who is the offspring of this revolution, further asked, What is our religion? He asked such a tough question to the Dharma system. When Dharmamartand started attacking Savitrimai with dung, Savitrimai used to take one extra cloth in her bag and go to school and change the dirty cloth. Later, Savitrimaila-Jotibana Lahuji Salve and Khanduji Mahar provided protection.Muktai is the granddaughter of Lahuji. Savitrimaya, who started this revolution, was only 18 years old at that time and Jyotiba was only 21 years old. Savitrimaya, 17-18 years old, stood shoulder to shoulder with her 21-year-old husband, who went to war with the world. The pair and the work they did was amazing.Think about it. On the one hand, while this struggle was going on, they also fell in love with each other. . They were able to fight this battle because they loved and trusted each other. He did not hate those who fought against him. Jyotiba and Savitrimaya can never come down from grace.Today, the youth of Maharashtra should follow the example of Tatyarao Bhide, who opposed the society to start a girls school in Jyotibana. The Bhidewada in which Jyotiba-Savitrimai started the revolution is not visible to the naked eye today. This bad condition of Bhide Wadya is very painful for the mind.Bhidewada should be preserved as a memorial to the unprecedented revolution of January 1, 1848. The coming generation should understand Jyoti-Savitri as a revolutionary.
