Surmay is the place for seafood lovers in pune. One of the best restaurants serving all the types of coastal dishes at average rates.Their solkadi is best I’ve ever had till date. I had literally 2 glasses of solkadi which was irresistible.We in starters ordered,Prawns rawa fry 5/5Pomfret rawa fry 4/5Baby shark fry 5/5Chicken Ghati 3/5 it was a bit spicy.Chicken Malvani 5/5In main course..Crab masala 5/5Surmai thali 5/5Prawn thali 5/5Clam masala 5/5Each of the item was fresh and could be told by taste with abundant flavours. Clam masala is worth try.Each thali consist of bhakri/chapati , solkadi, fry item, gravy item. A single thali makes a person full so it quite appreciable as per quantity of serving.It’s located around the sihagad campus so its easy and the worth try place for college students.

Surmay - A delicious treat for all sea food lovers !!!!!After month of Shravan, I was looking for good non-veg option in town and found this newly opened branch of Surmay. A small place which can accommodate 15-20 people at a time. Checked their wide menu which made me crave for everything. The menu comprised of fish delicacies, crabs, prawns, clam preparations. Also they had included chicken, mutton delicacies.We group of foodies ate following food delicacies :Pomfret ThaliThis big plate(thali) comprised of fish curry, pomfret fry, sukkat (dried shrimp) chutney, solkadhi, bhakri and rice. The fish curry was made from blend of grated coconut and indian spices. Pomfret was nicely marinated with spices and then tossed in rawa and fried on frying pan. Sukkat chutney is crispy chutney made from dried shrimp. Solkadhi is mandatory with sea food, it is blend of kokum and coconut milk.You can eat fish curry with bhakri or rice, both combinations are amazing.Kingfish (Surmai) ThaliThali comprised of kingfish fry, fish curry, sukkat chutney,solkadhi, bhakri and rice. The kingfish was cut into pieces and then nicely marinated in spices and tossed in rawa and then fried. The fish curry was spicy curry which tasted good with rice.Clam CurryI am big fan of clam, as it has unique taste when it is cooked with perfection. The clams were cooked and then tossed in coconut infused spicy gravy. The deliciousness of clam curry with solkadhi was best combination.Baby Shark FryFreshly cut baby shark into pieces and then marinated with ginger paste, turmeric powder,chilly powder and salt. Then it is shallow fried on pan. The taste is so delicious that your mouth will salivate.Prawns masala thaliI am big fan of prawns and yes this prawns thali wont disappoint you. This delicious prawns thali comprises of prawns fry, prawns curry, sukkat chutney, bhakri and rice. The authentic coconut,chilly based goan style cooked curry tastes delicious with rice.Crab curryI would say you need different skills to eat crabs. The crabs curry was nicely prepared and served along with bhakri or rice. Just look at the picture, you will definitely crave for it.Chicken Malwani masalaThey also serve juicy chicken cooked in malwani spices. This coastal delicacy is way beyond my expectations and yes its a must try.Overall a lovely place for sea food lovers. The service is quick and prompt. But for regular dishes some waiting will be there. But not more than 5-10 mins.Food: They have variety of food options available, from Sea food to Chicken, Mutton. And most of the dishes are pure maharastrian style. So you will love it.I tried many dishes from the menu:1. Solkadi: Refreshment to begin with. Amazing taste. Sweet, little spicy.2. Fish Thali: Akazing King fish Rava fried in red masala, accompanied with fish curry, Sukat chatni and bhakri.3. Been to Surmay multiple times at the Karve Road branch and its never been a disappointment.Sinhagad one is recently opened, was here for some fish hogging.Speaking of the ambience its small shop, they have tables outside. But never judge a book by it cover!!!!The staff try keeping up with all the orders, service is fast, food served is piping hot and delicious.You definitely cannot miss on Surmay if you love fish and are struggling with some month end money problems!Coming to food -They serve the best Solkadhi! It been long that had such authentic perfect solkadhi in pune. You definitely cannot miss on the glass on 1 or 2 soulkadhis. Try and thanks me later on.Its flavoursome, Loaded and super satisfying.Fish- prawns- crabs everything cooked to perfection.The flavours were super balanced, nothing was really overpowering but nice mild and not at all bland.Tried couple of fishes here! Duhhh you have to when you come here.Prawns Rava fry and Pomfret Rava fry is something you should definitely order. Prawns were super fresh and tender.Not only fish even Surmay serves amazing chicken delicacies. Had chicken Ghati which was hot and spicy had that village touch to the recipe. Chicken Malawi was on bit suble side but full of flavours.Tried couple of thalis here:All thalis have the Indian bread that is optional either roti or ric bhakari(opt for rice bhakari), dry dish fry, the curry ,and the fish which you choose in you thal.We had surmai thali and prawns thali. Thali is loaded, enough for one person.Apart from this,Had amazing amazing amazing Clam masala..It 5 on 5 win win dish here. Take my words, I place my bids you cannot go wrong with it.Also Crab masala.Crabs were perfectly cooked and the masala was scrumptious. Loved how the whole thing came out to be.Surmay has become my favourite place now for trustable fish quality, amazing quantity and taste is perfect.Moreover falls light on your pockets.

Surmay ...assal malvani ...we visited this place becsuse they are very famous for sea food.They served all asal malvani thali, fish thali ,chicken thali, They always served good sea food items like sumai fish ,prwsns,crab etc.We just loved all sea food item and this place is highly recomended for sll sea food lovers.

Absolutely mouth watering original taste with proper blended malwani spice together with just the required flavour!! Will be a revisitor!!!
