Great place to visit to see our history. The collection is good and place is very well maintained. Best place to visit and see the freedom fighters in pictures. I would suggest to take young kids there to see what our freedom fighters have done for us so that we can live this life. The entrance and the temple looks too good. Great work.

👍I was very impressed with this meusem. An outstanding feature of this place is that its huge !!!.The very first thing you notice are the large doors that welcome you resonating what enterance to a Maratha Empire is.When you enter the complex, you feel history playing in front of you with large walls and buildings. As you proceed to the meusem you have a lords idol to worship.Followed by an old printing machine which bears date of production. If you take the Pune Darshan bus, this meusem if first on the visit. The doors of the meusem are opened in front of you into a dark room that is lighted slowly - and glimpses of Tilak and his life are all over the place. It has a dedicated Tilak work room.My favourite was the wall bearing his entire life in the form of pictures.Overall a very satisfying experience.

One of the great heritage place in Pune. Lokmanya Tilak resides here. He also published his news papers from this place. One small museum with lot of photos & information are displayed here. Recreated Lokmanyas study & Jail cell of Mandale. Nicely made. Many famous statements made by him are displayed all over. Ganesha palakhi used for procession is also on display & same is even used today. In premises old house of Tilak is also preserved & seems under maintainace now a days.

He is one of the reason for what now Poona Pune is being called as Oxford of East in India.Free no charges, ideal time in the late afternoon as in morning Pune Darshan Visitors crowd the museum.

Stellar collection. Youd never know its size from the street. Jam-packed - plan on lots of time, especially if you know something about local history. One key place this museum could improve is in the lack of interpretive information. I got a lot out of it because I was there with a local friend who was extremely well-informed. But on your own, its just a large collection of beautiful objects. Maybe a rental audio guide, more plaques, etc. Maybe even an identifiable docent on each floor? Really do take the time. Youll be happy you did.

If you are interested in history and you really want to spend some time there you better not be with a guide. There is a lot of crowd inside and you are not allowed to stay at a spot for a long time. So dont let a guide or a timed visit take your time away from absorbing the place.

Although neatly maintainedvery less things to see heremany things have been lost to the vagaries of time & businessthe property is being modified/encroached for rents from businessIt should have been isolated as a heritage icon given its rich historybut all this takes a backseat when money comes into play

What a time to visit this museum, just before the start of the Ganesh Festival, celebration of which was started by Lokmanya Tilak himself. The work of the pandal was going on when I visited. If you have interest in the Indian history and want to better understand how things unfolded in that era this is the place you should not miss. The museum was well maintained and the attraction is the study room of Lokmanya. A letter written by Lokmanya Tilak during his days in jail is worth reading, it showcases the raw emotion of a man who has lost his wife. The government should do something about upscaling this place and giving Lokmanya Tilak the respect he deserves.

This museum depicts the life history of Lokmanya Tilakji from his childhood to his last time through a photogallery. Photo of his parents, grandfather or simply the entire family he lived in during childhood. I can seeBal Gangadhar Tilak, the founder and editor of the newspaper Kesari, started publishing, and it is still published today. He was kept in jail, then he learned two laguages, learned German and french and also wrote Gita secrets.Kesari is still published in the newspaper today. You will find many registers in which the old to new Kesari newspaper is preserved.
