A great place for research and testing. The place is spacious and natural. All the departments have their independent areas where more and more test models can be made.The best is the Mumbai coastal model. Each and every detail is shown accurately. Amazing experience visiting this place.

It is a water and power research station for conducting various research projects related to river engineering and other hydraulic projects... I m working here for my BE project.... The people here are really nice and they have outstanding knowledge about the subjects.... The institution is a subordinate organization of Ministry of Water Resources under the central government of India.... Truly love this place and feel proud about it that such a great institution is there in India

A research area for model studies related to major rivers, breakwaters,shoreprotection and ports. They have prototype model of all major rivers for research and other data.very large area and is known as Central Water Power research station .They have a guest house accommodation for training officials also.under GOI.Had seen models of Jnpt and others also.

Place of research managed by Central Government and inaugurated by Jawaharlal Nehru. My B.E. project place. Very calm environment and maintained open place.Work related to all Indias main ports is done here. Well known Ganga project is also under work here only.

Nothing special. It is a work place. And it is also know for colleges students trip (mostly civil Engineering and diploma students). If you want to visit this place then only visit in cwprs open day. Rest of day ,the place is restricted . Only the people who work here are allowed or have to take special permission ( permission is only given for valid reasons like college study trip etc)

There is cool infrastructure.. And so many research was done about Water flows.. Every scientists is coperative with student.. Learning opportunities so high.

With the dawn of independence and launching of planned development of the nations water resources, CWPRS became the principal central agency to cater to the R&D needs of projects in the fields of water and energy resources development and water-borne transport. Today, CWPRS, a part of the Union Ministry of Water Resources, is one of the foremost organisations in the world in the field of hydraulics and allied research. CWPRS provides specialised services through physical and mathematical model studies in river training and flood control, hydraulic structures, harbours, coastal protection, foundation engineering, construction materials, pumps and turbines, ship hydrodynamics, hydraulic design of bridges, environmental studies, earth sciences, and cooling water intakes. The studies conducted by CWPRS are able to provide hydraulically sound and economically viable solutions to various problems associated with projects on water resources, energy and water-borne transport including coastal and harbour engineering. CWPRS also collaborates with other organisations like WAPCOS and educational and research institutions to complement its activities. Thanks to the Government of Indias financial support, CWPRS has been able to keep pace with the rapid advancements in hydraulic research by way of updating its facilities and expertise. As the Regional Laboratory of ESCAP since 1971, CWPRS has offered its services to a number of projects in the neighbourhood countries as well.
