The best library one can find at the prime location of pune .. Membership fees are fair enough compared to services and hygiene provided... Their cafeteria service is again good one.. Atmosphere is very well suited for students... They also have a vast collection of books..The only issue is with seating arrangement..one has to reach library as early as possible to assure the seat in library because British Council Library seems to believe in the early bird gets the worm theory ;)

The must visit library of Pune. They have great collection of books, from fiction and non-fiction to management, history, literature and science. British Council Library has a reputation of being a very well maintained and updated library and they rightly live up to the name. Also, their online resources are excellent as you are given access to a host of journals and newspaper subscription(both Indian and Foreign). The study room and reading hall have excellent ambiance. As a student you get an excellent environment to concentrate on your work. The management and staff are very helpful and have done excellent work in keeping up to the library traditions.

We’ve been a member of the British Council Library for the past 7 years. It’s a place my family loves to keep going to. Not only is the collection of books extensive, but the expanse of the library also provides an open and relaxed ambience. One can easily access many online resources through their website. The staff at the library is extremely warm and co-operative. They ensure that your query is addressed to your satisfaction. They are very open to suggestions and feedback. It’s a pleasure to watch them interact with children; very warm and caring.Events are organised regularly, which are well thought out and meticulously executed. Love being a part of the British Council Library. Kudos to the team.

For readers, writers, freelancers, and for anybody looking to amp up work productivity - IDEAL. 5 reasons:1. The book collection is decent, and the online library version makes up for what you dont get in paper format.2. Well designed, well maintained, and high quality infrastructure (seating/air conditioning/lighting/wahsrooms).3. Neat little cafe inside the library, for coffee+sandwiches+snacks without pocket-pinch.4. Friendly and helpful staff (unlike the disinterested snobs generally manning library desks)5. Events on weekends, for community expansion, literary experiences, and social initiatives. Not convinced? Pay a visit and decide.

A library providing books only by British authors. Having been a member for a really long time, I can say the library is good but not great. Most of the famous books are almost always withdrawn and they never seem to get them back. The ambience is relaxing, theres plenty of space to sit and browse through. The study area is good. The DVD collection needs vast improvement. Upon requesting a book, I never found it in the library. The staff is blunt most of the times to even their oldest patrons. With a collection of over 20,000 books, DVDs, audio-books, award-winning independent films, magazines, newspapers, graphic novels, comic book and periodicals, their collection is never ending. However, you’ll only find books by British authors or the ones that are published in the UK here. The perfectly lit library with the peaceful ambience is just the place to immerse yourself in a good book.Timings: 11 am to 7 pm. Old collection! Kind of dedicated to British literature/arts/movies/music. There is a world outside and apparently they dont want to pay heed to that. Books are quite old and not all are in good condition. You will not find many technical/engineering/medical etc. books. My suggestion is instead go for online services like Amazon Prime/ Kindle Unlimited. Now coming to the main point - I got an email to renew subscription. When I tried to renew it online I couldnt as I have fine pending. 2400Rs / DVD. I had checked out 4 DVDs and then couldnt revisit. Now I am supposed to pay 9600+ Rs as fine. The funny thing is they never really sent any reminder over SMS/email for returning the same. And now my account shows 9600 Rs.Stay away...

The British Library is among the oldest libraries in Pune, and has a huge amount of resources for all kinds of casual and educational reading, besides providing assistance for English language exams.Their new place at Ramsukh House is really nice, and as a 10 year-long member, Ive loved every visit Ive made here (I do miss the large bookshelves and the ambience of the previous location every once in a while though). The PC and search systems they use are slow (seems to be a result of some cost-cutting). Theres a café where one can have light refreshments and snacks, and a decent amount of space and silence for one to read in peace. The staff can be a little harsh and uncooperative at times; However, for me, its been mostly a great experience.8/10. It is clear that they did not even give a little bit of importance to my urgency and unavailability. I will be leaving the country for few months. Library is good. Interior, atmosphere and facilities are upto the mark. But few major flaws make this library really useless despite all things mentioned above. One, they arrange too many programs and with each program comes a holiday for the library, so basically library remains open only for 18-20 days a month. Second, library opens late i.e at 11o clock and closes too early i.e at 7o clock as compared to other libraries in the town. So despite having facilities like cafe, sofa and all, u somehow get deterred from your primary focus, study. Decide wisely!

Overtaken by MPSC students with tonnes of material of their own, just like the Russians took over Goa. It used to be a place for reading, but not anymore. MPSC students enter the facility the moment the library opens and never leave until late evening. They sleep in the library, and leave their material like they are on a state transport bus to book the place when heading out, only to return hours later, or at times, even not return. Its basically become a study hall where there is no place to sit, as all the desks are taken and in a situation of being permanently booked.A genuine reader who, if does not queue up at 11 a.m, will be left fumbling for a chair to sit. The MPSC Brigade would continue to sleep at those desks, and watch movies on their phones using a headphone, with no books in sight even to just fake it. It has become a replacement for Jayakar Library of Pune University, where you could basically hop in, and settle for a lifetime. This is no more a library, but a reading hall. Also, the books have gone down in number, I guess owing to digitalisation, which is good, as it means keeping up with the times. A few readers might be disoriented with this idea, as obviously a book cannot replace a handheld device. If you wish to join, and wish to spend quality time here, give up that thought and sit at home. You shall never find a place here.

No books on science technology maths and medicine. They keep only British publications in the field of Law and Commerce; however this collection is also quite disappointing. Now a days they r on a strict cost cutting drive and have discontinued British Chess Magazine and Flight which they cannot afford.Economist magazine is weekly but many times comes once in 2-3 weeks.Reading Hall is always occupied by MPSC students reading Marathi books.ONLY 2 out of 5 computers are functional. The computers have power backup but not uninterrupted power supply.A lady staff member once could not differentiate between UPS and UPSC. The library people find it hard to understand the difference.Such is the technical talent of these tecnowizards!!!Their Online book catalogue is the joke of Library Science. The narrow and congested washroom(with broken ventilator glass for Day-time astronomy workshops) for male visitors has no separators between urinal pots!!!!!!They do run some cultural programs which seldom attract any crowd. .WHEN THEY RUN SUCH CHILDISH PROGRAMS MEMBERS are NOT allowed to USE READING HALL. Actually the bread and butter of the library is reading hall but in that respect also these people dont strive to deliver . There is no WiFi which they had promised long back and the BCL Staff talks about online reading resources!!!! Once they had an amazing and rare and huge collection of books on technology but some idiot top level manager of massive stupiďity in NEW Delhi advised them to dispose off these gems at a throw away price and the library became permanently poor. The local management has zero managerial acumen and sense of business. The readers of this library had a certain class at one point of time but I think now they all have deserted because of the stupid policies of BCL India. You will find MPSC students sitting on FLOOR everywhere in the Crowded reading room like some refugee camp .ON TOP OF ALL THIS ,FOR LAST 60 DAYS (since JUNE 1 TILL TODAY)THE LIBRARY has been kept CLOSED as they have relocated to a new and smaller campus and HER HIGHNESS QUEEN ELIZABETH is busy in interior decoration !!! BCL PUNE has the highest density of most useless books and even their frequent sales of books cant dispose off the accumulated garbage and u feel like charging them anti dumping duty for the books they display.Pathetic!!! The library needs to review its purpose of existence ASAP! !!
