What a lovely experience that felt just like dining at a friends place! I personally enjoyed the comforting hospitality- It wasnt an intimidating experience one would expect at a star property. Everyone was smiling around, stopping by to talk about the food, laugh at a joke, make a suggestion...I think its this warm hospitality that really puts you at ease! Brownie points to Chef Bhuralal for sharing interesting travel tales and life lessons with us. Hes a happy, hard working face Im not going to forget for life ❣️Plus the quality of food is so good, we stuffed ourselves but didnt feel uncomfortable 🤤 Speaking of food, please do not leave without having the dahi vada and dal baati churma - its a royal feast served to you with the familiarity of home style cooking.

Ambience was awsome. We went for team lunch. The items served were very very slow, I did not find my plate any time full. Thali was big but did not sereved fast enough for thali restaurant. Even asked repeatedly for wheat roati, paneer tikka or subji but they did not get those also. Sweet served were in very Lees quantities e.g. Only single gulab jamun find in photo attached. Not recommend to anybody if you are spending more than Rs 1000.

Before starting with my review, Id like to say that dining at Shakahari is more of a Royal experience and is something which I would highly recommend to everyone reading this review. Now lets get started.Shakahari, as the name suggests, is a pure vegetarian fine dine Indian restaurant. The hostess greets you with a smile before sprinkling rose water on you. Rose water is an essential part to welcome guests royally. As I entered, the first thing that came to my notice was the plush sofas, the elegant maroon curtains and the overall ambiance which makes you feel as if you have entered a modern royal palace.Coming to the food, Maharaj Jai Kishen, and Chef de Cuisine Gaurav lavishly craft the menu, and it changes every two months. For my table, I had a mix of Punjabi and Gujarati cuisine. After settling down, a big silver plate arrived and seeing the size of the plate I knew I was in for a huge treat. Now the real show starts where there are a host of servers coming over and serving you an array of dishes. Beginning the royal meal with the assortment of delicious cold and hot appetizers, out of which I loved the Handvo which is a Gujarati lentil cake served with green chutney and Subz ki Shammi which is a pan-fried vegetable kebab having a subtle flavor of cinnamon and cardamom. The mains are something like a never-ending flow of delicious food on your plate. Dal Baati Churma with ghee is something you should never skip when you visit Shakahari. I was overwhelmed as it tasted similar to the one prepared by my mom. Another homely dish was the Gujarathi Kadhi, a light, flavorful curry which I prefer drinking directly from the bowl. Kaju Batata Rassa had tender, soft potatoes with cashew in a tangy red gravy. I also liked the Val Muthia Nu Shaak which is regularly prepared at Gujarathi households. It is a delectable preparation of red tomato based curry with field beans, fenugreek, and gram flour dumplings. There were hot puris, Amritsari kulchas, and bajra no rotla to go with the curries.I was also served Tarkari Kichdi which is universal comfort food and goes amazingly well with the dal or kadhi. Ps. do not forget to add ghee to it.And yes! There is Aamras too for all the Mango-heads out there! After I got done with the heavy food, it was time for desserts. Shakahari has a dedicated desserts room called as the Mishtan Bhandar which is a literal translation to Sweets Repository. There are around 30 types of desserts awaiting to get devoured. Their kulfis are prepared in-house and served as kulfi falooda which cannot be missed.Your meal is not complete there. The final element is their Paan which also acts as a mukhvas. To sum it up as I mentioned at the start that dining at Shakahari is a Royal Experience which will keep bringing you back for more. The hospitality by Restaurant Manager Mr. Partha and his team is a cherry on top. Special mention to Mr. Vinod who took care of our table and made sure our plates were always full of delicious food.

Looking at the thali pic literally waters my mouth as the soul satisfying taste still lingers :-)One of the most delicious curries I have ever tried...Paneer from kadai paneer just melted in my mouth and the Saag Mangolia(green curry in thali) felt sooo subtle as if it had more soul than physical! Veg pulao is something that deserves special mention...every grain of cooked rice was flavoured with utmost attention and detail! I can go on for almost every item in the thali :-)Three course meal served in the format of Thali - ALL UNLIMITED so you can choose where you want to indulge more. Thali combines the flavours from different states of India - Maharashtra (masala matki, Shrikhand etc.), Rajasthani (Dal bati churama, kadi), Gujarati (dhokala etc.), Punjabi (Kadai paneer, saag etc.) There is a separate dessert room but I had no room left in my tummy by that time...though couldn’t resist my favourite Shrikhand which tasted like home made!About the service - I felt the service was bit slow noting that staff would generally wait after serving starters as it’s a 3 course meal. I had to ask them to serve all 3 courses together however still felt service was slow as some of the guests had to wait. Hence 4 stars instead of 5. Having said that, staff is very friendly and the head chef Mr. Buralal made sure to give us a visit and was happy to pose for some pictures with the Family. Also gave me some tips on how to make yummy Shrikhand :-)We were celebrating my Sons 6th bday and overall it was a great experience! Definitely worth the price! If you live to eat and are vegetarian then you must visit this place at least once!

The furnishings is top notch and luckily we were the only when ones as the place had just opened up for business around 12:30pm so service was superb before the rush came in.-- A drop of ink may make a million think.Pawan Manghnani

I went to Shakahari Restaurant for Sunday lunch with my family. The ambiance of this place is very good. You can notice that modern & flashy colours is mostly used & that creates an overall good ambiance of this restaurant.About food and starters, it was a Southern Special week, so most of the spread was from South India. I had started with Rasam & Makai Sorba. They both were good and set the mood for luxurious buffet lunch on Sunday. Then we were served almost 7 to 8 starters like Crispy Babycorn, Dal Vada, Mushroom Kebab, Paneer Kebab etc. I liked Dal Vada, Mushroom Kebab & Crispy Babycorn. Along with the starters we were served Ice Tea which was going quite well with the starters. In the main course we had ordered Dal Makhni, Subz Panchmel, Dal Batti-Churma, & assorted breads that include Tandoori Roti, Nan, Laccha Parantha & Missi roti. They food quantity they served in main course is too much, please make a note & order accordingly, otherwise there will be too much of food waste which could affect your overall experience (as it was my case)! The main course was also tasty, especially Dal Makhni & Subz Panchmel! Churma was also good. The only disappointment in the main course was Dal Batti. As the Batti was not properly fried and the Dal they served was actually Dal Fry which is not authentically served with Batti! Generally the Dal which comes with Batti is mixed about 4 to 5 different pulses.About Dessert, it was a huge spread again almost 20 items would be there. After having filling starters & main course, there were less scope for us to go for dessert. But I tried a few of them and I liked Rasgolla very much. It was soft & immediately melted. One of the best Rasgolla I have ever had in Pune. I also tasted Chocolate Ice cream, it had a strong flavour of Chocolate which somehow deteriorating the taste of the ice cream.Overall food was good, you have to have a big appetite! Service was good (even though the restaurant was full of guests) & staff were quite courteous.Cost wise, its on the high side, but sometimes you can treat yourself!

A restaurant having a really attractive ambience ✨⚫place :-located on first floor of JW Marriott , perfect atmosphere for having dinner with your family. The architecture has been done excellent and is pleasing.Plus you get to see a live kitchen. The lights are dim , could have been little bit more brighter.⚫ seating arrangement & cutlery :-Sofas are comfy but the chairs arent .Furniture is amazing and matches to the hotel and name too .Coming to cutlery , spoons , forks , plates , bowls, glasses , are all made of silver which is very good for our health. The presentation of all these is very attractive which is kept on the table including the napkin fold.⚫food :-A pure vegetarian restaurant having a number of food varieties and menus including live kitchen.I wont prefer you to come here and spend thousands on food here... because the food is not tasty as youll expect when you go in such luxury restaurant. The price for food isnt worth the taste.Ill instead suggest to go to Alto vino or paasha which is much more better.⚫staff :-The staff here is very polite and helpful and have a good knowledge of everything served in this restaurant..Overall you must visit once to see the ambience and have a experience of the shaahi restaurant.❤️

Vegan all the way...JW Mariott Pune, Guys after enjoying Pasha, Jw Marriott Pune Ive decided to try all your restaurants with my family & friends. So we tried Shakahari today.Starting with chana, dahi bhalla along with pappad, chutney and achar was delightful and different. However the choice of main course fell completely out of line and being a vegetarian ex Hotelier foodoholic I could say that with experience. Plus the matar in paneer matar was partially cooked and lacked that punchy taste it is famous for (its cant be creamy). Dum aloo was ok but could be perfected. Ive had aloo poshto but loki poshto was something new today. Dal in dal bati churma was great. Panchratna dal was tasteless.Oh, and everything they served us was cold and lost its taste further! Most Indian dishes are served hot - usually at the temp we recommend for soup.I wish hostess had told me about amazing choices you had in the dessert section before we started! Full marks for all the options and display, especially the lechi thingy but zero marks for gajar halwa (its not supposed to be so dry and khoya is not added separately in cooked gajars - instead cook gajar it in the milk until milk itself turns into danedar khoya and no Nestle milk maidplease) and gulabjamun (its outer crust was burnt and hence turned bitter)

We went for dinner last week. To be honest, this is a highly over priced thali considering they provide only 4-5 starters, 4 vegetables, dal-bati, 2 types of rice, 2 types of dal and 6 Indian sweets. Ice-Cream and fruits are not considered as desserts especially when you charge 1400++If you look at other Thali places in Pune, they have ample options at a fraction of the cost. And they also have better taste. You could also try training your staff to be a little more giving in their service. They were reluctant to serve and this is not how you treat guests.I would rather spend my money on more palatable and friendly options for thali in a big city like Pune

Finished our conference at JWM and headed to Shakahari for a quiet dinner by myself. Fantastic experience. I am allergic to certain foods, so they were careful not to give me that. The service was exemplary, The staff were really amazing, caring and cheerful. There is a room exclusively for desserts, the chef had come to recommend the desserts. I ended speding about 2 hours at the restaurant. Overall my review would be as follows:Ambience - 5 starsFood - 4 stars, but 5 Stars for DessertStaff - Definitely 5 Stars

Over Hyped.. i had heard great reviews and hence had great expectations.. and so booked a party of 7 for a birthday lunch.. Was sorely disappointed.. the food was mediocre.. very poor and small selection of starters and main course.. too little variety.. The Daal Batti and Dahi wada were great.. and so was the choice in sweets.Even the service was below par.. though i paid full price.. this small choice in food and bad service could have been due to the Axis Bank half price promo being conducted during the same period..Only thing Royal besides the menu, was the Silver Thali and the Price...

Been to Shakahari some 12-13 times. It used to be quite good earlier. But since they have changed to thali system, it has been a total nightmare. Starters & main course have no taste left in them. Half cooked food & breads. Dal makhani has too much of butter these days. Seems like master chef has changed & so is the quality. No exclusiveness in the food.Deserts are still good but fewer in number as compared previously. In short, lavishness of the food has gone down the drain.

Shakahari is a pure veg indian restaurant located in JW Marriott, Pune. The place serves pure veg indian food on a silver thali which consists of hot appetizers, cold appetizers, main course, staples, rice and desserts. The ambience of this place gives you a royal feel as soon as you enter, the entrance is decorated with flowers and diyas which will definitely bring a smile on your face. The restaurant has royal maharaja style seating with sofa and chairs and continuous silent music is kept on playing which gives the restaurant a calm and royal atmosphere. The service of this restaurant is quick and beyond accurate, the staff will serve you food with a big smile and will keep on bringing the dishes after regular intervals, as soon as your water glass gets empty the staff will notice it within a second and refill it, they will also explain you about the dishes which are served and will keep on asking whether you want to have anything more, the most accurate service i have ever seen.Coming on to the food which i tried in the thali:1)DAHI VADA:The best dahi vada ever, the vada was soft and fluffy enriched with balanced sweet yoghurt and was garnished with tamarind chutney and red chilly powder. The sweetness of yoghurt, the tangy flavour of tamarind chutney and the spice if red chilly came too good on palate.2)KARELE KA CHAAT:This was crispy fried fryms made up of gram flavour and were given shape of karela so the name came Karele ka chaat, the fryms were topped with yoghurt, shev, tamarind chutney, the dish was crispy and sweet with slight tangy taste.3)Green peas tikki:This was soft and moist tikki made up of green peas with little sweetness and was not too heavy, a simple and delicious tikki with green peas.4)CUCUMBER SALAD:This was cucumber based salad with a gujrati touch.5)DAL BATI CHURMA:This was one of the best part of the thali, the bati was soft and enriched in clarified butter, the dal was thin and had subtle flavours and when the bati was converted into churma and the dal was poured on it along with some clarified butter the flavours were exceptional and fantastic.5)PANEER TIKKA MASALA:This was paneer tikka masala with creamy flavour and it had a little spicy flavour to it which made it unique and the best part of thali, it really came good with roti.6)KADHI:This was gujrati style kadhi with slight thin texture and was sweet in flavour, the hot kadhi was balanced with sweetness and it was so tasty that i literally sipped it with spoon and loved to have.7)ALOO:This was boiled aloo tossed in little spicy masala and was really unique.8)DESSERTS:There were more than 11 plus types of different desserts which include indian mithai like, besan ladoo, motichoor ladoo, kaju katli and then indian desserts like phirni, thandai, kheer, shrikhand and some hot desserts like halwa and gulabjamun, the desserts had a balanced sweetness and were thick and creamy, there was even a kulfi section and it was served along with toppings of your choice, the dessert spread was huge and never seen this huge dessert spread in any restaurant. They served three kinds of staples like paratha, garlic naan and bhakri, the paratha was crisp, the naan was crisp with slight garlic flavour, the bhakri was soft just too good on palate. The restaurant also has a bar with some cocktails and mocktails, you can enjoy your food with a good drink as well.Top five reasons to visit this place:1)The place has taken vegetarian food to another level with unique flavours which will make you forget regular food.2)The place has a royal ambience with silent music which makes it calm and you can enjoy your meal with good vibes.3)The service of the place is accurate and quick you dont have to wait for your food for long time.4)The place serves food in original silver thali and vessels, which makes your experience more royal.5)The place gives you a lot of different dishes and desserts that too unlimited serving of all the dishes which brings a smile on your face and fills your stomach with relly unique food and silent vibes.
