The food was really great with warm hearted staff. I tried the Tandoori Roasted Pineapple dessert it was unique and yummy. For main course we had Tiger prawns for main course with saffron rice and it was delicious. Highly recommend this place it has spaced tables and romantic vibe.

Loved the place. Amazing food, atmosphere. Great service. We went there at a time when they were taking last orders, still they served with patience and as they would have done normally.

Tried their grilled beef tenderloin. I wanted it to be medium rare but it was more of well done than medium. Having said that the dish was very good. Wish there were more options for starters.

Really beautiful cozy little heritage hotel located in the heart of white town. Stayed there for 3 nights. Hospitality was outstanding and they really make an effort to make sure your stay is memorable. Food was delicious just that servicing time was on higher side though you can enjoy the warm cozy ambience and relax. Given the popularity they have, pre-bookings are highly recommended.

Best hotel in White Town! Me and my wife stayed here for a week. Stay was really comfortable and excellent food ! Best part is that its very near to Promenade beach.

Loved Villa Shanti. The place was so clean and very well run. Every one, right from the manager to the restaurant and bar staff were so professional and very helpful. The food was so fresh, starting from breakfast. Fresh juice, fresh fruits, lovely omelettes. Rissotto and French Onion soup was also very good. Rooms were very clean . Was a great experience. Will surely recommend Villa Shanti to all. Thank you.

Definitely a must visit restaurant in Pondy. Nestled in the courtyard of the villa, this place looked very inviting. They have more north Indian food than French cuisine but the food was flavorful. We had the citrus salad to start with. The salad was just alright, but the highlight was the prawn handi for main course and the creme brulee for dessert. Both were really great. Their cocktails were enjoyable too.

Worst restaurant...... Which Sees dress code for people..... Actually we were in an traditional outfit.... And there wore many table over there.... But the lady there told us there are no seats...... Does people need any dress code to eat food in an restaurant..... Nonsense...... Cursing u that your restaurant will never develop....

Had heard and read this as a must visit for food.. however found it more hyped.. did not enjoy the (veg) food as much.. the risotto dressing was same as the salad we ordered.. pasta was nice.. but nothing wow..Cocktails were also not worth a repeat also..The servers also cld not guide us with correct portions to be ordered.. ambience is nice.. however overall more hyped than what it actually is.. hot afternoon, the ac was also not effective... :( (review is for veg food we had)..

Totally in love with the ambience. Me being a vintage lover was totally impressed by their theme. The food was amazing. Especially their grilled fish with olives and risotto. And a special mention about their Princess of Vellore cocktail which had an amazing mixture of drinks. Perfect for anytime of the day.

A Typical laid-back restaurant and hotel, in the French-side of the city - Ponidcherry. Close to the beach as well. The cuisine is both French and Indian. We just went to the restaurant. It is usually very busy, so should make an appointment before you go!

It is indeed a place for food lovers. I had a good experience here, the usual breakfast time is till 10am and they dont have an option for brunch but they fixed us the tastiest pasta ever and a club sandwich. The food was yummy and the ambience was beautiful. Finding a parking space was a hassle, but that is common in Pondicherry. The service was great, all staffs were friendly and efficient.

Its a Boutique hotel. I had stayed there few years ago. Rooms are spacious in colonial decor. No elevator, only stairs. Small bar in the ground floor. Restaurant service french & Indian cuisine. Very delicious offerings.

The ambience was very impressive. Since its open air dining restaurant you will get the AC facility. We have ordered one white sause pasta. Which was not cooked properly though the sause was okay.. Cost was bit high from my perspective and drinks are really good there.. They serve all kind of drinks...it is very appropriate place for the date nights.. if you dont like much spice in the food and then you can go and enjoy there with your girlfriend or loved one.

Ambience is good. They have very limited items in menu. Basic south and north Indian food. Bruschetta was delicious. Try their mocktails as well (beach blossom was good). If going on weekend then book your table in advance as it gets crowded in the evening.

Serene and comfortable. Orange and chocolate mousse cake was lip-smacking! The only downside I found was they have limited meal options for vegetarians.

This hotel is not really a 4 star, however, it is clean and does the job of a peaceful sleepover. The staff is amazing. However we found the rooms to be very small. The breakfast was disappointing as well with hardly any choices. A French restaurant should be serving a nice French breakfast instead of a South Indian one that one can have anywhere else in Pondicherry.

The crembrule is really good,Mr and Mrs smith pasta with vegetables was great.Beef tenderloin was nice when well done. The vegetables was good with it and mashed potatoes was creamy. Its good for those who like that kind of food.Very comfortable chairs. Polite helpful staff. Weekdays are not crowded.We asked the staff to pick and he picked fish tikka which was great for Indians unfamilar with French cuisine.4293 for 5 people was expensive but a great choice once in a while.

Never had such a bad food anywhere in Pondicherry. Ordered multiple things - lamb was dry and felt like rubber, risotto was bland and wasn’t creamy, can’t describe pasta in words. Water was the best tasting thing

Quite disappointed with my experience this time. Ordered food at 7.30pm, but it only came 9.15pm. My friend got his chocolate shake almost 45 minutes after he ordered. The long Island ice tea barely had any alcohol in it and it lacked the punch. The butter chicken and mutton Rogan Josh were average in taste. We wanted to order continental dishes, but they didnt have it. Wonder why they took so long to cook when the dishes are limited. At their price point, I would recommend to visit Coromandel instead of villa shanti

The place is mostly busy and filled, you may have to reserve earlier for getting a seat hassle free. Otherwise you might have to wait for sometime. It is little bit on the costlier side. But the food and ambience is worth the wait and the cost. Great dining experience and hospitality. Food is tasty. Very quick service once you get a seat even when the place is full.

This is my second time. There is an easy going feel which I like, it slows you down and thats a good feeling to have. I especially like the open patio seating, the calm white theme.The food is nice. I had the pomelo prawn salad, a French onion soup and a a chicken Risotto with some nice chilled beer.Always a mainstay in Pondicherry. Cheers!

The ambiance was very nice. Food was also good and the staffs were very welcoming.

We were a group of 15 had lunch on 8th July. Every dish took around 45mins. Though the staffs tried their best, I do not know why they werent able to serve anything on time. Hyper expensive place. Truly doesnt worth the price. Taste is little lower than average.

This place is not pet friendly , very cruel that they allow pets only when we trap them in the Crate which the staff used the word Cage. Ministry of animal welfare please make a note. Clearly they have mentioned pets friendly place . This is the holiday destination and they expect our pets to trap in their so called Cage. Very insensitive

Very bad food. We had butter naan, panner butter masala, chicken curry. Taste is very bad. Staffs behaviour is not good. No proper response. Lot of time for food delivery. The lady at the reception behaviour is not at all acceptable.. do not visit.

One of the best places for food in Pondicherry. Whether it is French, Tandoori or Indian, the chef has some amazing fusions for foodlovers to try. I stayed at the hotel as well which is a beautiful quiet and cosy place. Do try the Chicken Risotto.

Naam bade aur darshan chote, any basic c restaurant will have more options of food than this hotel, note:- have appointment before going there specially on weekends. Taste is ok and cost is high.

NOT RECOMMENDED. Really bad dining experience. VERY SLOW SERVICE. Rude staff not at all cooperative. Took 50 min to serve 2 naans & 2 dishes. Asked them to make a dish spicy, says we dont serve spicy food, will not make it spicy. Had to eat bland peshwari chana masala, its supposed to be spicy. Served the worst Long Island Ice Tea ever, literally just water and Smirnoff. Only ambience is good, no ac and a seriously lacks fans.

The good: If weekend brunch place had a name, it would be called Villa Shanti. A heritage villa converted to a casual upmarket restaurant, this is a good place to chill with your friends over some drinks and food. The salads were very good tooThe bad: Slightly on the expensive side for its service. We felt paying 400 bucks for a bottle of beer was not worth.

It was a recommended outlet. We were received well. But then no one turns up to take order, they did miss items ordered, they did not deliver in the order we wanted, and alas the food did not taste great. Half baked pasta, over cooked tikka, fermented Kadai vegetables.Service was pathetic and with what we saw we presumed they decide on whom to give attention.Overall a bad personal experience for us.

Nice and peaceful rooms. Good restaurant. French menu was less. I selected this hotel based on reviews of french cusine. Expected a lot of french items in menu from others review, but disappointed. Idli, dosa, toast, paratha, Omlet and cereals were the only items in breakfast menu.

Villa Shanti is an amazing place with great food and the staff never disappoints you with their service. The ambience is relaxed and nobody ever hurries you through your meals. A must visit place especially for an evening to be made memorable.

Very nice Ambience ; perfect for Sunday lazy lunch ; little funny but we ate proper indian food here, dal, mix veg, roti and to our surprise it was just perfect!

4 star for the food and ambience, additional star for the senior management... We had a issue with the restaurant manager and sounded it to one of the staff... For our surprise, the Managing Director took the feed back very seriously and called us back to check on the issue... Much appreciated gesture I would say, no wonder they are so famous.

Authentic French restaurant. Open space and indoor dine in. Due to the climate we had indoor dine inn. Ambience and mood was totally great. Chicken Risotto, Grilled Beef Tendorloin, Naan, Butter Chicken Masala, Virgin Mojito, pasta and fish. No regrets with taste😀 very limited options available in the menu may be due to Covid. Must place for people who would like to taste the French food.

We reached and inquired at around 15:00 if they were still serving and the staff informed us they can only serves snacks and drinks, which we were fine with and parked our hired motorcycle to reenter only to be gestured by a rude employee to stop while he kept speaking on the phone. He looked away continued speaking on the phone while holding his hand up all the while, like some sort of police official trying to stop you from entering a place you’re not needed. When he finally got off we told him we already spoke to another employee and we’re going in.What followed was probably my worst dining experience in a while. The whole place seemed to have an air of arrogance. I understand this is meant to a high-end place, but where’s the humility? We were served by a staff that apparently hates the management but until we spoke to one of them and found out what was going on, we actually thought everyone carried a holier than thou attitude in this place.What we were served was worse than Mumbai street side food. Firstly, no option for vegetarians. Secondly, the fritters and samosas they served were not at all worth the hype this place gets on social media. Lastly, on the upside the bar served great drinks, especially the bloody Mary, but that for me just doesn’t upgrade the whole experience.All in all, save yourself some time and money. There are other great cafes and restaurants within the white town that would more than sufficiently satiate the foodie in you. And most importantly treat you like a customer at the least.

Pricing is worth it. Great ambiance and service! Food could be better tho

This is a food Mecca for anyone exploring cuisines in Pondicherry. A luxury fine dining experience which will definitely be the highlight of your day.We tried their highly recommended Tiger Prawns and Fish Risotto and both the dishes blew it out of the park. The portion size is good for one person only so order one dish for each one of you.The French Creme Brulee was another authentic preparation and should be tried if you have a sweet tooth.

Reservation must for dining...Prices are slightly higher...A neat and friendly staffs...

Service was poor.For the price and the taste this was very hyped.We tried the French cuisine exclusively, and were left sorely disappointed.It might be that they’ve cut back on the menu and ingredients on the food due to the pandemic - for example the lamb wasn’t tender.Was left profoundly disappointed with the service staff - who seemed genuinely disinterested.

Wentv for dinner with family...spent about 2hours.... Tried various dishes...not much into starters salads and soups... ordered fish beef n chicken...beef was worthy and delicious.. ambience was great...once in a lifetime place to visit

Clean and tidy place. Has a restaurant and accommodation facility as well. Food is very tasty, having options of Indian and Italian cuisine. Was over crowded the day we went and had to wait for table, although the person in charge of providing a table was not courteous and told us they cant promise a table. They seemed to have the attitude of whether you stay or not doesnt make a difference to us. Management should definitely give better training and should be well prepared for situations of being over booked.

I went there for my daughters birthday dinner. Only 3 of us.I called few hours in advance but they clearly says they are not taking reservations. On reaching, I was shown a list of 12 reservations before I could be given a place.There should be clear communication between the person on the phone and the ones interacting with the guests.The service was slow and in spite of being one out of 6 total occupied tables(10 PM crowd really goes down quickly), it was very difficult to get the attention of the waiters.The food is okayish. i find the place overrated. It can pass as an overpriced tourist restaurant but nowhere near the standards of a French restaurant.Its like me living in Scotland falling an accent and trying to be Scottish.Maybe I had high expectations it maybe there is scope for improvement.

This is a review for the restaurant, not the hotel.Largely an average experience after a long wait for a table. The food is good, and the service of the food is pretty quick. The drinks on the other hand take a long time to be served and arent that strong. Not sure if they are short on bar staff or if the staff they have need more training.The place has a nice ambience, just like most of the villa restaurants in White Town

Food was too tasty. We had vegetarian crepes, chicken spatzel and chicken with cauliflower two ways. They do serve alcohol but due to elections the restaurant were shutting at 10pm. For desserts we had creme Bruker and Lava cake with vanilla bean ice cream

If youd like a gourmet experience in Pondicherry, this is one of the places to go. The quality of the ingredients and the taste is magical. Dont be afraid to try the exotic dishes, all of them surprised us. But our favourite was the pesto pasta. It is very difficult to find a table so if youre here on a weekend. Make sure to get a reservation at 7.30. weekdays its pretty free.
