Sadly, we could not go inside as we were accompanied by our puppy. The place seemed serene and beautiful.I am writing this so that people can know there are certain restrictions, which we did not know before travelling so far.1: No pets allowed- so if you are travelling with pets then you will have to stay at the gates as you won’t be allowed. If somehow u manage to enter with pets without the knowledge of guards then u will have to pay a fine of 10k. (So stick to the rules)The reason for no pets being allowed inside is because it is a wildlife area.2: No alcohol or cigarettes: don’t carry unnecessary items that can get you in trouble.3: there is a entry fees of 50Rs/each, pay that follow the rules and have fun.We hope to go next time without are puppy. Missed being inside .Take care stay safe.

The road from Udumalapettai to Munnar goes through it. Its an amazingly beautiful road with greenery everywhere. You can see plenty of monkeys on the trees, deers beside in the shrubs, a couple of elephants crossing the road and even bison in the jungle.Tiger will be hiding in the woods for you not to see him. Near Idukki you can see Anamudi, the highest peak in South India. This region comes under the Nilgiri range which is a heaven for the nature lovers. You can see a lot of birds in the morning that are quite uncommon in northern or other parts of India.

By the mid-1800s, large tracts of Valparaiplateau in the Anamalais were under intense tea or coffee plantations after deforestationof the natural forests. By 1866 two-thirds of the plantations were owned by Europeans and the remaining by Indians from coastal towns. Since most native inhabitants either refused to work or were inefficient workers, labour for plantations was brought from the plains of Tamil Nadu to clear forests and grow coffee. Some parts of the forest however were reserved for timber including large areas around Top Slip. This part of the Western Ghats, under the Bombay Presidency were exploited extensively for teak which was supplied to the Bombay Dockyard for shipbuilding and later for railroad ties.In 1855, this area came under sustainable forest management for teak plantations by the pioneering efforts Douglas Hamilton and Dr. H. F. Cleghorn of the new Tamil Nadu Forest Department. In the early 1900s, protection of the Karian Sholas was also ensured (Johnsingh 2006a).The area was notified as Anaimalai Wildlife Sanctuary in 1974. of its unique habitats at 3 places – Karian Shola, Grass hills, Manjampatti Valley were notified as a National Park in 1989. The 108 square kilometres (42 sq mi) National Park is the core area of the 958 square kilometres (370 sq mi) Indira Gandhi Wildlife Sanctuary. IGWS was declared a Project Tiger tiger reserve in 2008.The Park and the Sanctuary is under consideration by UNESCO as part of The Western Ghats World Heritage site. The Sanctuary and the Palni Hills in Dindigul District form the Anaimalai Conservation Area.

Indira Gandhi Wildlife Sanctuary and National ParkTimings: All days : 6:00 am to 6:00 pmIndra Gandhi Wildlife Sanctuary (formerly called Anamalai Wildlife Sanctuary), widely known as Top Slip is located at about 37 km from Pollachi town. There are many places of natural and scenic beauty in the Anamalai wildlife sanctuary. Some of them are Grass hills, Karianshola, Anaikunthi Shola, groves, waterfalls, teak forests, reservoirs and dams. There are arrangements of exploring the sanctuary on elephant back or by van. If you plan to walk in the park, you must have a Park Guide with you and you are allowed to walk in the park for a maximum of four hours for INR 70 per person.Elephant, Gaur, Wild boar, Chital, Sambar, Muntjac and Giant Squirrel are quite commonly sighted. The Leopard is the more visible predator in this Park. The four species of primates found here are the Common and Nilgiri Langur, and the Bonnet and Lion-tailed macaque. The bird life is rich and varied and the Malabar whistling thrush, Grey jungle fowl, Malabar and Great pied hornbills, Ceylon frogmouth and Malabar trogon are all found here.

One of the worst experiences.I have been visiting Top Slip for almost 20 years now and this was one of the worst experiences for my wife and I. There were some men who had brought in drinks and were drinking, smoking openly. They kept playing loud music until 11 pm in the night and it was astonishing to me that none of the wardens, police took any action on it. I finally had to step out of my room and ask the men to turn off the music .I have written a official complaint to Anamalai Tiger Reserve .I am not sure if they are going to take any action but if so I will edit this post later on.

The falls is too good and lively.water force was too good . My long bike ride pains were washed away by this water fall when I stood under it. Wow she is a real beauty of the water body. Love to stand under those waters falling all over your heart , soul and physical body . Lost myself over there. Just try closing your eyes and feel the water with love, Heaven will be there. Must try the above things. Take care of your things because there will be no one to look after things. Dont eat before monkeys they are always watching to take eatables away from you . Hope you like it . Let me know if you feel the same .

HiJust want to share the worst customer service experience I have faced for over 8 months this 2020.We had made a reservation during April, 2020 and due to the unfortunate circumstances cancellation was processed by the Anamalai Tiger Reserve on 27th March. Soon after I have been trailing with over 50 odd mails and several calls to the customer support executive. Everytime I was been told the booking was canceled and we processed your refund. But nope, its been 9 months and we did not receive any refund right until today. This was such a disappointing experience for me. Did not expect that a reputed organization such as this, can turn out to render the poorest response.Being a local guide, its my responsibility to make sure everyone know the facts clear.
