Chamunda Mata Raj Rajeshwari is a form of Tripurasundari. There is a legend behind the mothers name Chamunda. The origin of the mothers name is narrated in Durga Saptashati.Thousands of years ago, according to the goddess Mahatmya called Durgasaptashati, there was rule of two demons named Shumbha and Nishumbha on the earth. They tortured the earth and heaven greatly. As a result, Gods and humans went to the Himalayas to worship Goddess Bhagwati. But no goddess was mentioned in praise. After this, Goddess Parvati, wife of Shankar ji, came there to bathe at Maan Sarovar. He asked the gods, who are you worshiping? Then the gods became silent but because of the nature of Bhagwati So Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva do not even know. Then how can the God of Gods tell who he is, so he became silent. I am praising. I am the divine form of self-power. I reside in everyones soul.Maa Durga also got a name due to Parvatis appearance from her body. Hearing this, the messenger went to Mata Koshiki and narrated the words uttered by both the demons to the mother. Mother said, I believe that both Shumbha and Nishumbha are great forces. But since I take a vow that I will marry the person who defeats me in battle. [1]All these things the angel told Shumbha and Nishumbh. So he became enraged at the words of both the cells and said that the womans courage to challenge us for war. Then he sent two asuras named Chand and Mund and said that take his hair and bring it to us. Chand and Mund went to Goddess Koshiki and asked her to go with him. When the goddess refused, he attacked the goddess. Then Goddess Kaushiki took a black form on one side of her obedient wheel Bhrkuti (frontal) and after rescuing the asuras, took Chand and Mund to their Nizdham. The mothers name became Chamunda due to killing both of them.In spirituality, Chand is the name of Pravarti and Mund Nivarti, and Mother liberates the living beings from both Bhagavati Pravarti and Nivarta. That is why Jagdambas name is Chamunda.
