Family camping trip. Plenty of RV hook ups. Nice clean campground. Facilities are clean and stocked. A lot to do like swimming, fishing, kayaking, hiking

Heyburn is one of Idahos hidden gems. The lake views are stunning and the campsites are well placed. The facilities are clean and well taken care of and the cabins are great. It is a little confusing to navigate at first, but once you find the main thoroughfares, it becomes a little easier. Saint Maries is only a few minutes from there and is a pleasant little town. When the pandemic ends, I will most certainly return.

Awesome rv site! Love the area . Wish we could have stayed a few more nights. It’s a drive to get here but when you do ... it’s something special .

While it seems like youre in the middle of nowhere, the relaxing Vistas, easily accessible pull through campsites, and close by walking trails make this a wonderful retreat to recharge and reconnect with nature and your camp mates. Wonderful place to spend some time.

Great experience on the lakeside. Beautiful views all the way around. It wasnt corned or anything. I just wish the lodge and restrooms were open. I assume it was just closed for the off season.Looking forward to going often this summer.

Great park. So much to do from hiking to water sports and camping.

Its hard to give this beautiful campground 3 stars. My wife and I stayed for a long weekend, Saturday through Monday, and had a great time. Our only issue was or camp site. Unless youre staying on your own, avoid the upper loop on Chatcolet. We stayed in #114 and there was about 8 of wood under one end of the picnic table to try to level it. Other sites along the top of the hill were similar. We ended up moving our whole camp on Sunday after some of the other folks had left. There is a 10 minute drive from the office to the campground and youll end up driving through a community of cabins. The front office was really helpful in changing our site with a quick phone call. The campground near the office was spectacular and the camp hosts were friendly with a big wood pile (the firewood bags make great fish bags but try not to return them if you use them like that). All in all it was a beautiful park and we had a great time.

My husband wanted to go camping for his birthday weekend in October. One of the camping areas was still open and we had a nice site within walking distance of many trails. Peaceful, relaxing, and lots to see.

Ive only been here a few times. Looking forward to exploring this park more.

Camp sites are clean and there are plenty of trees. Hawleys Landing has great services. The only downside is that its close to the highway and the highway is loud day and night with logging trucks and what sound to be drag racers.

Very brief visit to Rocky Point. Very family oriented place with beach, playground, and Marina in close proximity. Recent wind storm uprooted several large trees and the clean up crew was hard at work.

Fabulous campground with electricity & water hookups, a dump station, freshwater & trash as of October 2021. Only the Visitor Center was closed. Very close to hiking & biking trails.

Always a nice place to visit. Enjoy the outdoors & see wildlife.

Great beach at Rocky Point and amazing historic buildings. Big park and lots of natural visitor experiences. Nicely maintained and easy to find everything.

Want to visit this park from last 1 year and finally got a chance last week to go there. Park offers great scenic views and have nice picnic area. Found it to be more useful for people looking for boating (and I don’t have one). I really enjoyed the bridge walk and views from top of the bridge. It is worth going there but only if either you wanna do boating or cycling.

Beautiful. Make sure u pay for parking. Big paved trail. You can fish or ride bikes. Camping is available but its closed right now. Little cabins and outdoor covered areas for rent.

Overall it was a really beautiful place for camping. However I think its a little overpriced for what it is. Also their is too many rules that are very closely regulated. The water was really nice on the hot weekend. I personally wont be camping there again.

Quiet. Comfortable & clean bathroom and showers. Amazing path on former railroad bed, including a wonderful elevated bridge over the lake! Very friendly & helpful staff, too.

Absolutely love Hawleys landing. This is our second trip here and our boys love the all natural playground. You can tell someone out some thought and heart into the project. And with Rocky point down the street, you cant go wrong here.They offer both rv and full tent camping. Highly recommend!!!

This place is beautiful! We did the Indian Cliffs loop, which is about 3 miles and it was a bit strenuous with a good amount of climbing, but worth it for the spectacular views at the top! Our 7 yr old handled it great, though I was nervous in a couple of places because of the steep drop off on part of the trail. Overall a fun visit and well definitely be back to camp!

Very nice place. The water is clear towards the shore and looks blue from far. Nice walkway beside the water and an amazing bridge where you can walk and ride bicycle. A must visit!

Entirely overpriced for what you get Dont bring more than 1 car or you basically get charged for another site. Hosts and the people who run the marina are very short with people and rude. Too many unecessary rules and VERY strict to the point of harassment. If you want to have fun, go somewhere else.

What an amazing state park. Lots of places to wander beyond just the campground and the lake. Good clean facilities around and a nice visitors center.

Great campground on the lake. Lots of trees around the spots giving some privacy. Nice trails. We stayed at spot#45 with electric and water. A lot of bees just a heads up if you’re allergic. No mosquitoes. Showers/bathrooms aren’t bad. AT&T cell service is very spotty, Verizon is pretty good.

We stayed at Chatcolet campground and had a blast. Some of the sites are small but ours was big with a nice view of the lake. We were also next to a path that goes down to the large field with a play structure. My son loved playing on the slides and swings. There is easy access for boat and a trail at the front of the campground. Nice bike trail and a good beach a couple miles away. The downsides were spotty cell service, no power, and no showers.

Quiet campsite with toilets and showers. Water/electric hookup. Tent only sites also available. Easy access to the Coeur dAlene bike trail. No lake/beach access. Have to drive down to Rocky Point for that. Still, a great home base for adventuring in the area.

I booked this site for hammock camping. Before booking, I read all of the rules and regulations listed on the website and even downloaded and searched the PDF rules. NOTHING on the site or PDF said that hammocks werent allowed. After traveling from New England and using hammocks all the way, we arrived to see Please No Hammocks signs. Being a New Englander used to rude and aggressive language, this was taken as a suggestion and not a rule (as they couldve posted Hammocks are Prohibited instead). We set up our hammocks on appropriately sized trees using our tree saver straps and were approached by the host who said hammocks arent allowed. We had to take them down. Our only saving grace was the host letting us borrow a small tent. I asked why this rule isnt anywhere on the website or PDF rules and received no answer. I wouldnt have booked here if Id known.Second issue, the directions suck. The reservation gives an address, GPS coordinates and directions to the visitors center, not the camp site. Our campsite was 7 miles away up the road without any sign. It took forever to find the place and other people were lost too, driving around aimlessly.Out of all the state parks Ive booked, this was the most expensive.Only reason why this is 2 and not 1 stars is that the bath facilities were pretty nice overall. The hosts were helpful in giving us a tent to use, otherwise it would have been 7:30 pm trying to find other accommodations or cowboy camping on the ground. The hosts also had clean sponges and dish soap at the water spots which I havent seen at other campgrounds, which was nice.

Love this area. Leslie and Beth have continuously been helpful. My family and I are enjoying our cabin so much.

Park was nice and clean. Park rangers were very friendly. Bathrooms were open and seemed very well kept up.

Our family has been camping here every Memorial Day for the last 25+ years. The bathroom facilities are superb, and we rarely end up with a party issue over the holiday.

Good spot for paddleboarding and picnicking along the trail of the coeur dalenes. Only a few tables and benches. Some people just sat along the rocky shoreline near the water. Plenty of trees and shade.

Spendy for tent camping. 30 a night 7 a night for each vehicle. Beautiful lake with plenty to do

Beautiful location and so close to the Trail of the Coeur D’Alenes! We were not big fans of the actual campground itself. We stayed in Hawlings Landing and it was average. The spots are very small and not easy to maneuver any size trailer but it’s doable. There isn’t much distance between sites (tent or RV). There is no beach access from the campground... you need to drive to Rocky Pt which is only 3 mins away.The biggest negative is the road noise. All night long. It’s very loud so make sure you get a spot on the opposite side of the campground.We would go back but only because of the access to the trail mainly.

Lovely setting on a beautiful lake but without much direct lake access.

This is a very nice state park with some interesting history! The trail is easy to walk or bike and it is handicap accessible to the bridge and further! The lake is beautiful of course and there is a small beach that is safe for swimming.

GREAT PLACE TO STOP. QUICK WATER ACCESS. PARKING IS AN ISSUE..PAY A FEE TO PARK.

Been here many times. Love being so close to the lake. About $60 total for two nights wasnt too bad.

Have been there before, but this time with a larger group. Its nice, spaces a little tight, and Wi-Fi only at the center where you check in. Staff very nice!

One of the best state parks in Northern Idaho also one of the oldest , highly recommend to go check it out but please clean up after yourselves keep the areas beautiful as it was when you found it jah bless

This is a beautiful area, water sports, fishing, hiking, kayaking, and it has many places to access the water. I will be back for an overnight sometime!

Amazing hiking trails with beautiful views of the lake. Coeur dAlene Trail passes right through so you can bike from Plummer stop at Heyburn State Park and head through to Harrison

This is a nice park. There are multiple trails, which are all clearly marked. There is also some informational stations and a few places with maps indicating where you are on the trail. There are porta potties in the parking lot, but the parking only holds about seven cars. Is a very nice, quiet, and beautiful place.

Nice clean park. Its a good idea to get reservations ahead of time and review the sites. Many of the tent sites are not level and the ground is hard and lumpy. The bathrooms have flush toilets and are cleaned often there is good drinking water available. Also nice hiking trails ans bird/wildlife viewing areas. White tail deer seen daily. Theres an excellent swimming and kayak or paddle board area. If you have water dogs, theres an on leash and a separate off leash swimming area. Really a wonderful park

We stayed 3 nights in the Benewah campground. Trees and terrain created privacy, bathrooms were very clean and FREE hot showers!!We were in a campervan that required no hook ups and we backed into our spot easily. We had a citronella candle that kept the bugs away. We were out biking every day. Most campers had kayaks or boats and were on the lake.This is a big state park with multiple campgrounds. We drove around to access the Trail of the Coeur d’Alene via another entrance.Tip – Conkling Marina to the NW along the lake serves a great breakfast!

We are tent campers and its hard to find a campground that isnt full of big RVs running their generators. Heyburn has 2 or 3 campgrounds, including one called Chatcolet that is more geared toward tent campers or smaller RVs. There was a friendly host at this site. The bathroom was very clean. There were deer grazing in the meadow in the morning. Some of the campsites have a view of the water and some dont. Theres plenty of shady trees and shrubs that provide privacy between the campsites. So, its a good place to camp and there are some activities nearby like the marsh boardwalk and the walking trail.

The cabins are an awesome get away in winter...Very cozy ❣🌠🌄

Lovely little lake, so many incredibly cool Birds of all kinds to see and listen to on the water, the Beautiful euphony heard before sunrise this morning made me want to go back again and itself ! Also a very clean campground, friendly host or camp staff on November 15th did an excellent job around the grounds and on the facilities.

Beautiful park with great access to the trail of the coeur dalenes. Riding over the tressle that crosses the lake at chacolet to harrison is probably one of my favorite two places ive ever ridden bikes.

Wish it was a smoke free zone. 😢 Loved the space though! Was clean and had nice playground for kids (not baby though)with some sand and water. The 4 stars is because there was a whole family of 10 people who were all smokers who were there. Those guests really ruined it for our family outing. I REALLY Wish it was a smoke free zone that was safe for kids. Made us sad we had to leave due to rude smoking family.

Hoped on the bike trail from here. Had parking and clean outhouses.

The Benewah loop is paved. Good for the kids and their bikes/scooters. Campground is kinda cramped. Swim area at the camp is very small and can only accommodate a few people at a time. Camp was clean and had power and water.

Very cool spot to camp, boat, fish, swim, view wildlife, bike...you name it!
