We were in varanasi and decided to go at shree Durga Mata temple. And it was right decision. This is compact and beautiful temple coloured totally red. Varanasi is a city of temples and this is one of the best place to visit in varanasi.When you entered into this temple people gives you water to wash your hands. It feels holy. It has a small lake beside this temple but not open for people.Reflection of this temple in water looks extraordinary.

Vibrant place. Actually its a temple of Goddess Drugs which used to be crowded by many monkeys, so also known as monkey temple in many books and on internet also. But the Priests prefer it to be called Durga temple only. So they tried to remove monkeys and were partly successful also. So now not so many monkeys are visible around it.

The colours of the temple are very attractive.. on the backward left side there will be bajana(singing songs) and at the entrance there is lord Krishna temple on the left and Siva temple on right here you can touch the lingam(idol) and can do meditation or puja(prayers/offerings) for free.. but beware of fraud purohit(preachers) before you hire them to do any puja ask them about full payment at the end also they ask another payment dakshina(for food) so be alert even if they curse or shout dont be afraid real purohit wont accept much amount

A decent place for paying a visit to godess durgaa. The area is quite good but needs a bit maintenance as the water body in there stinks of dead fishes and nothing is actually done to it, may be because its a place of worship or whatever, but it really needs to be taken care of, otherwise the place is quite soothing and provokes the inner peace, if one is looking for it. You get no parking space in and around there, but can get the floral garlands and other things which are required for the worship.

Also known as Durgakund temple, this place offers you clean drinking water. When entering the temple, you will have to take out your slippers and shoes for which you will be charged Rs. 2 to keep it securely.Check out some of the pictures I have added.

The very thing youll notice about the temple is the striking red colour. The temple itself is a calm and quiet area but something, a powerful presence still lingers amongst the temple grounds. The power maybe of Maa Durga herself or of the chanting of the devotees, who knows. The temple area is quiet clean and spotless. One can spend up to 30 mins quite easily here.
