The quality of samosas has gone down a bit. The sauce that comes with it feels like its just a puree from a can of tomatoes with a little bit of spices. I hope they go back to making those really tasty samosas they use to make 2 years ago.

Pure veg restaurant, what a great find. We got samosas because of local peoples recommendations and it was a good decision. Samosas were really good. 4 stars only because of 2 reasons - first off service is VERY SLOW. Looks like they are under staffed, cant say for sure since this was our first time. We got pushed way too back and others were served first just because we were still deciding. Owner us a very aged person so we didnt complain to him but they are under staffed. 2nd reason for 4 stars is because there pakodas were VERY OILY. So much that I squeezed 1 and oil oozed out between my fingers!! And the baigan bharta was sweet. Sweet as in it seemed like they added ketchup to it. I hope they read comments and will work towards it.

I love, love, love this place. The samosas are absolutely amazing and perfect for picking up and sharing at a party or potluck (pre-covid, obviously.)If you are looking for other food, although everything I have had so far is great, the paneer korma is my personal favourite, with strong and yummy flavours. The Chaat is yummy. The naan is heavenly. The prices are great and the portions generous. Highly recommended.

The food here is okay at best. Its basically Indian food on a budget. Oddly, the dishes here taste a lot better than their other place on Pare street (which was honestly the worst food Ive ever had apart from the short eats/appetizers). The staff is friendly and attentive but dont expect too much. The dinning area was moderately spacious with clean washrooms. The best thing about any of the pushaps is their appetizers.

Ive been going here for 15 years, as, back then, it was the only vegetarian option in the West Island. Theyre the reason I love Indian food now, as my Italian upbringing had never exposed me to Indian cuisine. Im vegan and they have always offered vegan options, and they dont use eggs at this location and ghee is not a part of their cheese-free curries, so its an excellent bet for vegans. I live in Toronto now and Pushap still remains my favourite Indian restaurant--and I even served their samosas at my wedding! The service and prices are exceptional and the family that runs the place is truly friendly and welcoming and we even knew each other by voice and name. I recommend Pushap to everyone and I always look forward to enjoying their food when I visit family in the West Island.

Ca
Review №45

One of the best cheap food places that I know of in the West Island. They serve a variety of foods at very reasonable prices. I love them for their samosas at 4 for 2$ (it used to be 5 for 2$). The samosas arent the best of the best but they still are pretty damn good. I suggest you bring cash. The staff is generally nice. A little heads up: if you expect something out of this world from this eating place you will be disappointed, but if you expect bad you will be pleasantly surprised.

Sometimes I feel like Im buying soup in Seinfeld with an Indian twist. Ill naively show up way too late asking about Samosas. The proprietor will tell me, in the same sentence, none left...how many do you want?. I never know how to answer. One night I said twelve and he said no but gave me a look as if he was giving me a second guess. I guessed eight and he said no again. Shoulda guessed higher. The following week I tried again, pressed my luck with twelve only this time he encouraged me to go for twenty. Twenty Samosas is way too much even for a long weekend. I insisted on twelve and he agreed. While waiting, another customer who had phoned in an order and was picking it up inquired about adding Samosas and asked if they had any left. Typical no..how many do you want? answer. The guy was courageous enough to ask if there was a discount if he bought a certain amount. Proprietor answered no, two for 1 dollar which is an amazing deal for the best Samosas in all of Montreal. The confused patron responded with Ill take five. He was charged 6 dollars.
