I was on hold 30 minutes, so I hung up the phone without being helped. On another couple occasions I was on hold 20 minutes. Once the reps answer the phone, they try to be helpful. However, phones need to be answered more efficiently.Just to be fair, nurse practitioner Despina is very caring, answers all my questions and does the best she can to help me at every appointment. Thanks.
If I could give negative stars I would! I was in a car accident last week and was informed by emergency to follow up with my primary care if symptoms worsen. I called this morning at 11:00 am and was schedule with Steli at 4:30 pm. Being in the medical field I wanted to make things rrun smoothly so I asked the receptionist if they would like the information from the emergency room where I had X-rays done She stated no they will get that information when I get there. I live in Gilbert and was on my way to my appointment when I recieved multiple calls and one voice message stating that stelli wants to cancel my appointment and for me to go to urgent care/emergency. I call back and I am on hold for 15 mins. I am informed that the appointment is to late and she would need to order x-rays. I informed again that I had x rays done. And was asked why I was coming in. I infomed the medical assistant that I was there. Once I came in they stated that they were unsure why I was there. And again the xrays came up. Once again I stated that I had x-rays done. The medical assistant said the doctor will look at you but they are unsure why. I was not called back until 4:45 pm 15 mins after my appointment. I was seated and asked again why I was there and explaind once again. The medical assistant then said so what do you want her to do it is 4:30 pm? I showed the paperwork from emergency room. return or contact your physician immediately if your conditions worsen or change. I informed her that thier receptionist scheduled me for that time. She stated she was not sure why she would do that. I walked out. This is the worst office and physician I have ever delt with!
I love my NP, Despina, but the hold times to get an appt is RIDICULOUS. I am currently holding 20 min already.
THE WORST EVER! I am a 60 year old man. And a new patient here. I have never in my life seen or experienced anything like this place. Its truly UNBELIEVABLE. I HAVE CALLED AND CALLED FOR 5 DAYS STRAIGHT NOW. THEY WILL NOT PICK UP THE PHONES. NO WAY WILL THEY PICK UP THE PHONES. There is not even an option to leave a message. IT IS TOTALLY REDICULOUS! I just cancelled my next appointment and found a new doctor who actually wants to see me. And what a relief ! Goodbye and Good Riddance. OMG !!!!!!!
I will not post a negative review unless I feel that the public can benefit from this information. I was a patient until 2019 when I had pulmonary & cardiac symptoms (including severe pain), and all the NP said was to sit up straight and stop slouching. Yes, this really happened. The next day, I went to Banner University ER and was diagnosed, properly treated, and recovered four months later. Before that episode, like previous posters, I also had difficulty getting refills and getting medical assistants to call back. The office staff appear to be overwhelmed and the doctors and NPs overly busy. Ive since switched to a practice that has none of these issues. It doesnt have to be this way.Edit: A relative of mine still is a patient there, and now his doctor (Fatima Martinez) is leaving. There is only one doctor at AIA who can take him on as a patient, and she isnt able to see him for four months. An overloaded practice is not a good thing.
We are not happy with the way this practice conducts business and treats patients. Its a hassle dealing with them; from waiting 15 to 30 minutes on hold to schedule an appointment with a doctor to dealing with the rude front office staff, this office is very disorganized over all. Its also a revolving door for doctors; you wont have the same doctor for a decent amount of time. Doctors seem to come and go quit regularly and patients arent given notice that their doctor is no longer with the practice. To make matters worse, on many occasions they have billed the wrong lab when patients have gone in for blood work leaving them with unnecessary lab bills in the thousands. Also, getting a referral takes a very long time and thats if you dont fall threw the cracks. Theres a lot of incompetence at this office and it seems like it all leads back to those who are managing it. I simply cannot trust them with the care of my family members.
I do NOT recommend Associated Internists of Ahwatukee (AIA).In my opinion, AIA appears to be putting profit over their patient (and provider) well-being by booking patients every 15 minutes without giving consideration of the patient’s current health care needs and their overall health. On 8/31/21 I waited 2 hours to be seen. While waiting to be seen, several quite elderly patients shared that they had also been waiting more than 1 hour. Once seen, my clinician told me that the day before she had a total of 10 patients on her schedule. By the next day, a “walk-in” patient was scheduled every 15 minutes!Maximizing a clinicians schedule (and the practices revenue) is understandable, but patients are unique, and some patients are quite ill. So, instead of scheduling a walk-in patient every 15 minutes, AIA should consider a patient’s current concern, history and age. Those with a higher illness burden should be given a 20 minute or 30-minute appointment. This gives the patient the time needed to share their concerns, gives the clinician enough time to see and treat the patient, and decreases the wait time for patients waiting to be seen. Background:Ive been a patient of AIA for 10+ years and have worked in healthcare for the last 34 years. I do not post reviews, but am absolutely compelled to post this review.
Don’t walk, run away from this office. Don’t believe me, check out the other 99% of HORRIBLE reviews. DESTINA is a total nut job. If you need a prescription refill, plan on that taking a month because NO ONE answers the phone here. I have asked to speak to the owner because they did not answer my calls for 6 days until I called on the 7th day and told them I was writing to the medical board. DESTINA’s assistant is the most in compassionate person on earth. SHAME on the owners of this HORRID institution.
Service here is HORRIBLE, timing is HORRIBLE, they literally make you sit there for 3 hours in the waiting room then another 3 hours in the room just waiting!!On top of that, they were suppose to fill out FMLA paper work so that I can help my father to his doctors appointments since he can not drive! The whole 2-3 weeks I was playing phone tag with one of the MA’s until I gave up! This experience was horrible. Let me add one more thing...NOONE SMILES, NO ONE GREETS YOU, the A/C does not work, the place is not clean nor are the chairs.DISGUSTING AND TRUST ME SUN LAKES OFFICE IS JUST THE SAME!!
Dr. Martinez is a knowledgeable physician, she is caring and compassionatemy entire family is care for by her and I only have great things to say about her professionalism.
Literally the WORST office staff in the history of any doctors office. I know that sounds dramatic but I have been a patient for years now... you WILL have to call and badger the staff to get anything done... prescriptions, call backs and especially referrals. They always apologize yet still put forth zero effort in changing. But all of the Doctors at this location are amazing!! shame the doctors are stuck with such lazy staff
Absolutely terrible, I can’t even get them on the phone.. when my prescription was out I couldn’t get a callback from Alexis Woods assistant to refill prescription so had to get a manager to refill, after being out of my meds for about a week... then i got sick and needed some assistance on whether it was covid or just a cold, couldn’t get them on the phone... I’m not exactly sure how to get ahold of them besides literally going into the office, stay away from this place unless you want no callbacks, no way of getting them on the phone
As the other reviewers have said....this is the worst staff and doctors office period. They have set a new standard in lowering the bar in healthcare. Ive been going here for 10 years and to get appts., refill precrips etc. is a joke. They are currently denying my prescip refill for Statins until I see the dr. which they now require 2 times a yr.$$$$ even though my blood work from 2 months ago came back fine. Generally Ive had to resort to email on there healthline they have set up for prescip refills, etc. generally get a response in a day or two. When you actually get the office on the phone and have to leave a mssg. for an assistant with a question.....good luck (usually a 1 or 2 day response time). Your Doctors will constantly change also if you stay w/them for any length of time. Ive stayed w/them a long time but too lazy to change offices.....Im done with them now.
With this place - google should have a zero star option. One star is too much. I have been calling this place to get a prescription mailed to my pharmacy and they have not done it yet.
Not enough parking. Often extremely busy and long wait to be seen, even with appointment made well in advance. Office staff seemed overwhelmed. The only reason my husband stays with this practice is he has medically complex needs and it seems too hard to switch doctors. I left the practice because of what I consider poor care by the nurse practitioner. Also for the above reasons.
My experience here has been the best! I find Dr Fatima Martinez to be a very caring and compassionate Dr. who has helped me in every way. Makes me feel like she really cares and spends time with her patients. Staff was great also and I so appreciate Dr. Martinez
The other one star reviews say it all. My wife and I wonder how they manage to stay in business! We found an office with two internists instead of the nine at this office.....goodby Lana.
Awful. My MIL has been going here for 3 years, always terrible service. Today she called to get a referral and the office CLOSED DOWN!! (Gilbert) They did not notify patients or anything. They just left. Nice job, thanks for caring. We are moving her to One Medical.
Terrible office. They operate as if theyre doing you a favor by existing rather than treating patients as customers. When you call you will wait at least 10 minutes for someone to answer. The receptionists are grumpy and rude. When you show up to your appointment it takes over an hour to be seen. Absolutely worst office ever. No concept of how to operate a business.
I have been coming to this office for at least 5-10 years. They have always been so nice and welcoming...UNTIL today. I shouldve known from the tone and attitude I received from creating an appointment yet I proceeded (everyone has a bad day). The front staff seems overwhelmed, short and unhappy. Since I had to wait now 15 mins past my appointment time I have been looking for other doctors offices. No one WANTS to come to a doctors office. I refuse to be treated like a nuisance when I do have to make a doctors visit.
I am sorry to have to write a bad review, however Dr Woods medical assistant NEVER did get an order for a test I needed. I NEVER got a call back saying it was in the system as I requested. I had to cancel three appointments with another medical person because I did not have these test results! I still do not. I am no longer a patient of this mismanaged group.
The lab in the office is terrible staff is any way Been there twice in the last year. First time they didn’t have the correct size vials to draw the blood. Don’t understand that one. Today I went as I was using them for another doctor as Lab Corp office that is close by only does drug testing. I went in Brea called my name wrong Paul I was the only one in the waiting room, finally Went in she was using paper work for a year ago Which I wasn’t there for so I had her do the draws any way as one was the same. She was very rude in her explanation on fasting Hey its AZ and 100 degrees outside of course I’m going to drink water as I was only there I thought for one test which didn’t require fasting. She asked which arm I said pick one she was put off by that comment. And then said I had to do a urine sample which the doctor I was there for had done one 2 days ago. I’m not sure what her problem is but I advise her to find another line of work if she doesn’t like dealing with people. I’m seriously thinking about finding another doctors office because of this lab
Okay when I first arrived at associated internists the lady that worked at the front desk at the time she was very disrespectful cussing at an older gentleman who just came in for his appointment then was cussing through out my whole visit then just recently set up a doctors appointment at ten then they called me back to reschedule for a later time I had no problem with it so I went to take my mother to her doctors appointment and was running late i called to notify them and they would not want to see me because I was late so I drove all the way from Peoria to to the doctors office and natalie would not see me or talk to me they did not want to refill any prescriptions for my high blood pressure , fungus, and gabapentin for my seizures they promised to do so but now a month later am still battling to get medical attention the doctors here will not help you there was a young lady here fighting to get her prescription of mental medication she stated that she has been fighting with them for the last 7 days so I advise the people this is not a good location to seek medical attention you could die waiting for help
Multiple doctors and nurses practitioners. I have had appointments with several of them because if I need to see a doctor I just call and ask for the first available appointment. My regular internist (Dr. Mouaikel) is hard to get into because he is not taking any new patients and is awesome. The doctors and nurse practitioners are very skilled but dont have a lot of time for you. (They do listen to what you have to tell them though). Prescriptions can be electronically sent to your regular Pharmacy for pickup. Sometimes you have to be on hold for a long time when calling the office. They have a patient portal on the internet where are you can look at your lab results and send messages that get to the person you need to right away if you are having a problem with follow up labs or still having symptoms. If you send them messages they get back with you right away. The office assistants are extremely busy and are difficult to get a hold of. They have a lab on site and Sonora Quest is close by for radiology. If they refer you to someone make sure you look on Yelp to find out how satisfied other patients have been with him or her.
I had seen Dr. Bebawy since I was 14 years old and he was a phenomenal and caring doctor. Despite the horrendous office and billing staff, he was what kept me coming back. Then he just...left. Without even letting his patients know. And their office could give less than a care in the world about his patients. They refuse to refill prescriptions that I desperately need but also do not work with you on getting an appointment with a new doctor. They told me to come in for a walk in appointment for my prescriptions, and turned me away twice. Because of this, I will be contacting the BBB on the patient client relations that this office completely undermines. I will also be telling everyone I know to avoid this office like the plague.
I first want to say that this is not a reflection on Dr. David Bebawy, as he has a great bedside manner, is very professional, and I felt he was knowledgeable and sincere. I’ll also say that this office has convenient office hours, and I’ve been a patient for about 2 years. However, the handful of times I’ve had to interact with the office staff, I found them to be impatient, unhelpful, confusing, and sometimes incompetent. There are some very nice people there, and I am sorry to lump them in with the others. Here are some examples of concerns I’ve had with this office:1.) The very first time I went in, the lady could not draw my blood because she had no butterfly needle. Nobody else has EVER had to use butterfly needles on me to find my veins, but they told me to just come back some other time.2.) When I call, I have problems getting a hold of someone, and I’m often transferred to a voice mail. In the past, I’ve left SEVERAL messages and received no return call, but this seems to have been improved. Recently, I have gotten call backs.3.) I went in for a general physical, and was sent to a lab to have my blood drawn (because their in-house lab was closed). When my results came back, the staff called me to go over them, saying I needed a follow up set of labs because of some liver enzyme that showed up. This freaked me out! And the staff was not able to provide me more information on this, but she said she would fax my lab order to the lab of my choice. I went to the lab, and they did not have the lab order, and said the doctor’s office hadn’t even put it in the system. I called and called the office while I was at the lab until someone stopped sending me to voice mail and faxed in my lab work.4.) Shortly after, I got another call from the doctor’s office to go over my lab results…but she tried to go over my PREVIOUS lab results. I told her I already had this conversation, and asked if she had my new results. She did not and said she’d have to call me back. I waited a week, and finally called them. Yes, they had them and everything was fine…but nobody had called to tell me this.I still have no idea what the heck that concern about my liver was about, but I was told to come back in 3 months.
Horrible place, keep getting my lab orders wrong so they wont fill prescriptions. Doctors change constantly. Avoid at all cost!!!
I really like my doctor and love the walk-in option but have had a terrible time trying to get service. I was there almost 2 weeks ago and a prescription was called in which was delayed because they needed an override. I have called several times and get a recording that says I will be called back by the next morning, but have not received a call. My drugstore has also tried several times to get a response. I really need this prescription and dont know where to turn.
This place is trash. From the PA Despina to the staff. I would highly recommend looking elsewhere if you want REAL patient care. Completely unprofessional. This practice doesnt care about their patients.
My experience has been highly satisfactory. There is careful attention to collecting medical history and ordering the indicated tests, base on history, examination and self-reports. I have also noted that unnecessary tests are not called for. I have faced no difficulty in obtaining needed referrals. Prescriptions are dealt with expeditiously. A real plus is that the office is open part of the day on Saturday and one can be seen by one of her staff as a walk-in. Another plus is the multiple locations.
I used to go to this office when I lived in Arizona. I went in because I hadn’t been able to keep food down for 3 or 4 days. They told me it was a little stomach bug and I’d be fine. I went back in a week later, still unable to keep any food down and they still told me I was going to be fine. Two days after that I went to the ER and they told me it was a stomach infection and gave me antibiotics which cleared up the whole not being able to keep food in me problem. But now I’m left with major stomach problems because they didn’t take the time to figure out why I was unable to keep food down. What a freaking joke.
Made an appointment a week ago. show up for my appt. 30 min early and wait for an hour. Eventually I ask whats going on and lady informed me there are a few people ahead of me ... Why even make an appointment. A walk in patient came in and was seen before me. This is the worst medical clinic Ive ever dealt with! Definitely changing doctors.
I don’t recommend getting blood work done here. They told me it was “walk-in”.... the wait was over an hour!
VERY Disappointed with this office. I have been going here for over a year and never had any issue until today. I sat in the lobby for 3 hours. I understand that I was a walk-in patient, but there was about dozen other walk-ins that showed up after me and got taken back before me. I waited patiently for my turn. I even asked the rude front desk ladies and advised that I had been waiting and had to leave for work she said I had one more person in front of me when they never put me on the schedule at all.
I have been going here since Dr. Tokatlian opened this office over 25 years ago. It really was a top notch office.Great doctors and staff. Sorry to say ... in the last few years it is all falling apart.Front office does little and don’t communicate with back office, doctors and MA’s don’t communicate as I have called about a situationFor over 2 months leaving weekly messages on the MA’s voice mail and still have not gotten a call back. Before I bail on this practice, I am going to try their Riggs Rd. Office as my wife went there last week and was happy, and told me it was like the good old days the way it was.
Patient portal isnt worth the electricity to load it. Office hasnt added any information to it. It doesnt indicate any email capability. In doctor versus office management, while doctors are good, office management seems to take priority.
I was really nervous after reading some of the reviews. I have been to the office several times and everyone has been friendly and helpful. We have moved several times and I am very careful when researching and choosing drs. I have not been disappointed with my choice here. I love Dr Tokatlion, he takes time to listen and evaluate and the appointment wasnt rushed.
I arrived for my 10a appt as a new patient after walking around the building to find the correct entrance. It may have been 10:01a. I stood in full view of the receptionist behind a gentleman who was having a discussion with the receptionist. When she acknowledged me and asked my name she informed me I was now late for my appt at 10a as it was 10:03a. She asked me if I had completed the information packet and I told her that I had. She went to speak with the doctor to see if I could still be seen and came back to inform me I would need to reschedule my appt. I declined and advised her I would find another doctor. I certainly understand the need to be on time for appts and that the doctor has a schedule to maintain, however, being told I was too late to be seen while waiting at the reception desk to be checked in is, in my opinion, ridiculous. I took time off from work to be at this appt, filled out the info packet in advance so I did not need to come early but apparently my time is not of value. This physicians group was recommended to me by a friend but did not leave me feeling that I would be valued as a patient.
Medical issue putting me at high risk of sudden blindness and this office is more concerned about receiving the $20 copay for me to come in and do nothing before sending the referral for the surgeon immediately. It is impossible to actually see a doctor unless you schedule your illness months in advance. You are stuck only seeing a PA and the office staff could really care less. The disregard for patients with serious and ongoing medical issues is disconcerting and alarming.
Below is my original 4-Star review. Ive since had some terrible experiences which have brought my impression down to the current 2 stars. In addition to the sometimes impossible phone situation, this clinic will, without forewarning you in any way, charge you over $20 just to get a copy of your own medical record. You will then discover that they keep inaccurate medical records, which will explain why your short term disability claim was denied (you discuss your symptoms with your doctor, but your medical record says you deny all symptoms and are just fine). Your physician will leave the clinic without any advance notice being given to you, and without any replacement physician who is covered by your insurance. At that point, in the middle of a health crisis, youll be forced to wait a full month to get into the earliest possible new patient appointment at a new clinic.Ive had only good experiences with my in-person interactions with doctors and staff here, and highly recommend both Dr. Woods and Dr. Bebawy.I havent tried to go in for a walk-in appointment, but every time Ive had a scheduled appointment my service has been prompt.I would say this is a five-star clinic, except for one significant flaw: this place is very difficult to get hold of by phone, whether youre calling for an appointment or trying to return a call for lab results. Expect a regular ten minute hold time if you need to call for any reason, and if youre calling for lab results expect a potential game of phone tag as you leave voicemails back and forth.
They are very rude they don’t really care about their patients And the staff sucks.. it is going down hill since doctor David Bebawy has left the place.. the management is rude they change you if u have not seen the doctor.. and like to give out information that is a violation of Hyppa STAY A WAY FROM HERE AT
This office has one of the worst office staffs that I have ever encountered. I go there every month to get my blood tested and they act like it is my first time there EVERY TIME! They were supposed to call in my prescription over 3 weeks ago and I still have not received a call back to find out when my script will be filled. You wait on hold for at least 15 minutes every time you call and the staff never knows the answers to your questions. They say that they will call you back but they never do. I asked for my Doctor to call me back and was told there is no guarantee that she will call you back. There are a lot of doctors in the valley - do yourself a favor and pick one of them as YOU WILL NOT HAVE A GOOD EXPERIENCE WITH ASSOCIATED INTERNISTS!
By far the worst medical experience I have ever had. I have been incorrectly billed by them on several occasions and had lab tests order that I did not agree to have and was charged an additional $750 for said tests. The staff are impossible to get in contact with as they never respond to phone calls or voice messages. Avoid this place at all costs.
Very professional staff, very efficient. Dr. Tokatlian one of the better doctors Ive seen in 64 years.
Ive been seeing Dr. M for 20 years.
I found the entire staff to be courteous and helpful. The doctor I saw was very professional, thorough and informative.
Brilliant! Dr. B actually listens and reflects your concerns and arguments. Best doctor I have had since I was 3
Thats actually a 10th of a star... if that.Writing this from the waiting room... had a 10:15 appointment and I didnt see Despina until 11:30. There are walk ins getting in faster than I. Hey, not like I dont have a job to get back to or anything folks. This place actually stops taking calls in the middle of the day for lunch- says the office is closed!! Are you Fn kidding me!? I would suggest you look elsewhere, this place is a complete GONG SHOW.This will be my last visit.
I needed to get a physical done, and hadn’t established a physician since moving to Phoenix, AZ – my insurance site suggested Associated Internists. I called and asked for an appointment for a physical. The receptionist advised that the doctor I wanted to see wasn’t available for new patients for 2 weeks, but their nurse practitioner Despina Laloudakis, was available the following week. I took the appointment at 9:00am. I was asked to come in early to complete paperwork. I was there at 8:45am, and wasn’t called back until 9:45am, and then wasn’t seen by the NP until 10:30am! She apologized, but then rushed through my appointment, being short and rude. It was the strangest “physical” I’d ever had – no blood work, she didn’t examine any part of me that I didn’t point out. I also had caught a cold from my son, since making the appointment and told the nurse and the NP that I didn’t make the appointment because I was sick – as I wasn’t sick when I made the appointment…3 months later, I received a bill. Physicals should be covered 100% by my insurance. I submitted the paperwork that their rude receptionist required to amend my medical record to say that I had requested a physical, and it was denied by the NP that I saw that didn’t give me the physical that I asked for. She stated on the denial that I was seen for a runny nose and congestion, and that if I’d asked for a physical at the time I requested the appointment, I would have been told they do not do physicals for new patients… Stay away from this place!!!
Looking for new doctor now... Response for refills is terrible (my mail order co faxed twice and called 3 times over 1.5 weeks and still no response) and this isnt the first time Ive had to make multiple phone calls on a prescription. Phone system is poor, have to listen to several minutes of announcements before getting through (I dont care that they have new office opened in mesa and dont need to hear when I have to make multiple phone calls to get a simple prescription worked out). Entered data/vital stats into my chart incorrectly. Had to wait 20+ minutes for my first appt, 2nd appt was better tho. The only benefit is they have a lab on site and draw blood right there.
Absolutely the most horrible experience, I made the appointment one week before I could go in, appointment was at 11 I got there way before my appointment after filling out all documents and being there for 45 minutes they told me that I will have to wait two more weeks to see a doctor please do not go to this place you probably will die before you can see a doctor go anywhere else
This place has the worst front staff
I usually have good experiences with staff and doctors.
Excellent doctors, excellent staff!
If I could leave less than one star, I would. Especially because Dr. B is gone.
Dr Bebawi is the best.
