What an amazing restaurant and bar. The bartender makes fabulous cocktails! Food is prepared in an open kitchen that shows the luv they out into the food. Menu was exciting, fresh and flavorful with plenty of plant based options. We will definitely be returning!

Ordered the chef surprise. with everything we had with drinks the price and food was amazing. tuna so succulent you would melt in its mouth. old fashioned wasnt too bad.

Had dinner here the last night before they closed for July. The food was creative and expertly prepared and plate. The wait staff genuinely seemed invested in the experience. The space is small and a bit noisy if the restaurant is full. Not another corporate or mediocre middle of the road experience.

Disappointed night. Had looked forward to trying this place finally after 2020. The menu layout was confusing - apps vs mid course vs entree (like their old menu layout use to be). The server Laura was amazing and helpful with service and answering questions. The pate and burrata were great portions to start off with along side the funky small “bread rolls.” The beef tartare ppl rave about tasted nothing but mustard (and we are lovers of the mustard) - just over power. The undercooked french onion dumplings missed the mark too with that caramelized onion flavoring. It is Great idea though. Other items we ordered needed more salt. The pork belly needed to be crisper and tender the fat more - but had a delicious sweet corn. The trout however was amazing and flavorful. The cocktails were also on point. And a Saving grace to have when the lemon tarts were having a problem setting - maybe due to hot atmosphere, idk. Cheers to the bartender and service staff🥂

Unbelievable experience and possibly the best meal Ive had in 5 years in Phoenix. They no longer do tasting menu but you can build your own from the thoughtful menu offering. Everything we had was food of flavor and simple beautiful, a d cocktails were great, and the lovely brick patio with climbing jasmine reminded my of New York. A must!

Good to great food. Excellent wait staff. Small menu, but nice variety. Nice location, not a huge venue. Somewhat crammed if outdoor seating unavailable. Love the use of metal straws and metal stirrers in cocktails-awesome progress. Menu (at the time of review) offers mussels, octopus, and uni. Would like some transparency about the sustainability of the capture and sale of these items to go along with the progress of this place. Restaurants in general need to be better about offering sustainable sea animals given the dire condition of our oceans and its inhabitants. This entails knowing origin and method of capture, as well as offering food items that are endorsed by the Monterey Bay aquarium and the likes. I look forward to continued progress on that front from this restaurant.

Had a special date night for an anniversary here and it did not disappoint. It was a rare rainy night in the valley and we moved inside which had a fun atmosphere. The food was uniquely delicious. I had the pork chop which was fantastic, the thin trim of fat completely melted in my mouth with each bite.

Great place, was out first time and did not disappoint. We loved the cocktails and food and the whole experience was amazing. Manny was our bartender/server and did an amazing job explaining the menu and offerings. I had the pork belly and my wife had the fried chicken, both were exceptional. We loved our time and will definitely be back.

Id like to start by saying that everyone we were in contact with on this night was so kind & warm. We made a reservation for a patio table in August but the temp was just right with the fan on. Our server was knowledgeable on drinks & the food. The food came out in a timely manner & I loved that every component was seasoned or had its own flavor to contribute. Pictures of what we had are posted. The only gripe we had was a minimal desert menu (2 options I think?). We would def go back & we would def recommend to friends 😊

Perhaps one of the few truly 5-star experiences Ive had in my lifetime. The best meal I have eaten to date. The decor was nice and the atmosphere was cosy. There were few tables in the restaurant, and a communal seating on the patio out back. We left it to the kitchen $75 per guest, and the wine pairing was $35 per guest. This was totally worth it. The pounded beef tenderloin was great, the pickled fennel added something amazing. The Tuscan kale salad was very nice the white cheddar was a standout. The sausage in the sausage stuffed quail was the best. The duck breast was wonderful. Dessert was a chocolate mousse and toasted marshmallow with cacao nibs. To finish off the evening we bought 4 beers for the kitchen. Perfect.

This is a great neighborhood restaurant thats on par with many of the best restaurants in Chicago or New York. Experimental in its flavor combinations and outstanding presentation in a cute, non-pretentious atmosphere. Highly recommend for local folks as well as foodies from out of town looking for a great experience.

We spent a couple hours here for our anniversary. Very small place. There is an outside patio if u like sitting outdoors. The kitchen and chefs can be viewed preparing all the orders. We chose Leave it to the Kitchen with the wine pairings. This five course meal was delectable. The wine pairings were spot on. Overall, a very enjoyable experience. My only criticism was being seated extremely close to another party... so close it was as if they were sharing a table with us... A bit of a nuisance. However, I would return happily and am very grateful to have spent my anniversary here.

Went to Dinner here with a friend. I have wanted to try this restaurant for a while. It was everything I wanted. The wait staff was attentive and knowledgeable. The food was delicious, and the drinks were superb. I had a cocktail to start, that had pea shoots in it, yum! Then we did the Tasting Menu with a half bottle of wine. Perfect meal, with excellent company, and great atmosphere! I would definitely eat here again.

I had an absolutely lovely meal here at Restaurant progress. Me and my wife ate every bite of our food and the drinks were phenomenal. Tucked in the lovely melrose district its an awesome place for a date and with other local eatery / bars around its one your going to want to add to the list if your out bar hopping.

Very hidden. Excellent experimental house drinks. Ive only had one dish, recommended by everyone. That dish was a new experience in flavors. Modern yet catchy atmosphere. And staff is generous. All close.Also there are seals from New York above the kitchen

My best friend and I decided to head over to this nearby Italian restaurant. We both love eating Italian food and, surprisingly, the food was fantastic! The waitress greeted us with a real smile, and they were swift to assist us in our seats. The menu has also been fully clarified, and they can genuinely answer all your questions. I recommend the place highly!

THE PERFECT DINING EXPERIENCE. This place is magic. Hip, intimate, romantic, cozy, elegant, exciting, and INSPIRED! The young man who built and runs this place has found his calling in life. The place cant seat more than 100 people and no matter where you are, youre right on top of the open kitchen watching this incredible team craft gourmet meals while smiling and laughing. Its quite the synchronized dance. The food is exquisite...not cheap but worth it. I havent even mentioned that its within walking distance of my house in an assuming little spot youd barely notice if you werent looking. If youve got a special night coming up, this is the place. Its hard to describe the lighting in a bottle that is Restaurant Progress.

I took my wife to Restaurant Progress as part of our Babymoon after spending the day at the Montelucia. Ive heard a lot about this place and intended to try it for some time. Their hours are pretty short and (Ive heard) it can get busy and hard to get a table. We got there right at 5 PM. A little early for dinner but fine since we had a show downtown later in the evening.The space is small but packed with chic ambiance and mouthwatering aromas. I was digging it. The staff was friendly and seated us right way without a reservation. The greeter claimed that all of the tables inside were taken by reservations and put us on the patio. It was a cool space-- both in decor and temperature this time of year. It was a little disappointing to see half the tables still open on the inside when we were leaving an hour or so later. My wife is 8 months pregnant and would have appreciated sitting inside.The server was amiable, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu. I wouldnt call the spread comprehensive but each entry was solid. Having to avoid some of the entrees with raw ingredients, we settled on one of the salads, duck breast for me, and tortellini for the mom-to-be. I ordered an Old Fashioned and the cocktail delivered.The salad was mix of arugula, apples, dried dates, goat cheese and pine nuts. It had the appropriate amount dressing-- enough to make itself known but not enough to make me question my life choices. The duck breast was a scrumptious mix of umami from the duck and roasted vegetables, and sweetness from the sweet potato puree. The microgreens added a freshness to every bite. Take me home country roads... as long as I can eat one of these again. Delicious. My wifes tortellini presented in a classic sage butter sauce. Overall a fine dish but the pasta was undercooked and tough.Yes-- the portions were not big and probably the reason why I was warned this restaurant was a little overpriced. Listen-- I am sure theres a Buca di Beppo not too far from your house if youre looking for bang for your buck. I found Restaurant Progress to deliver on ambiance, service, and quality food. Its a great addition to the Melrose community and the rest of us salivating Phoenician foodies. The only reason I didnt give it five stars is because the greeter could have been more savvy with the seating and made us a little more comfortable. Cheers!

If asked to sum-it-up in a single sentence, it would be......Artistry on your plate, in your glass, and in the ambiance surrounding you. The menu is small, and it changes seasonally. Staff are quite well-versed in expounding on any dish, in case the description alone leaves you questioning. I am not adrinker, but I can clearly see the magic worked in front of my eyes, and in the responses of others upon their first taste. Venture in with an open mind, and your palate will be duly rewarded, I can assure you.

Had the delicious 5-course chefs menu. Between the four people in our party we essentially tasted the entire menu. Staff was warm and accommodating. The capocollo, quail (pictures below), sausage and sausage were our favorites.

Restaurant Progress was recommended to us by the Arcadia Meat Market staff, and we are really pleased they did. There is a very well-considered menu with lots of options for any dietary restrictions, and the friendly staff were very able to discuss options and make recommendations. Same for the excellent wine list, and recommendations were spot on. The decor is interesting, and the atmosphere is not excessively loud. Highly recommended.

My husband and I went here for my birthday the other evening and it was such an amazing experience. We did the 5 course meal and each course took you through a layer of fabulous flavors. My tastebuds were the happiest they’ve ever been! The food is fresh and there is a lot of passion put into it. The service was also spot on. Everyone was warm and attentive. They go above and beyond to make sure you are well taken care of.

I was introduced to this by a friend who lives nearby. Truly a spectacular meal - much of their ingredients are locally sources, and there is an emphasis on organic, as well. The servers are well acquainted with the wine list and make excellent recommendations for food and wine pairings. The prices are reasonable, especially when considering the quality and service.

Wow. So how do I sum this up... I guess the best way of describing me and my wifes night at restaurant progress would be to call it a dream. Upon entering the vibe of the place is awesome. The kitchen is fully open so you get to watch the incredible chefs as they cook up amazing meals! The whole place has an awesome look and feel to it and the music is played at a nice level and creates a relaxed and chill modern ambiance. Our server was awesome and helped answer any and all questions. The whole staff is extremely attentive and I we were approached by almost everyone who worked there at least once to make sure everything was going fine. For starters we ordered the beef tartare and the little gem salad. The beef tartare was excellent and the little gem was easily the best salad I have ever consumed. For a mid we ordered the steamed mussels. This dish was INSANE and a must try if its on the menu. Easily the most tender and flavorful mussels I have ever had! For our entrees we ordered the bavette steak and the charred octopus. Both were incredible but the octopus really stole the show. For desert we ordered the white wine poached pear which was decadent and an excellent way to end our dinner. The chef also graced us with a free chocolate and fruit tart! Which honestly blew my mind, it was so deep in rich cocoa flavor and the fruit was delicious! We also ordered libations of course, both of which were excellent. We were also given champagne on the house in celebration of my wifes birthday. Overall a dreamy and incredible experience. As of now I can easily say it was the best dining experience I have ever had. Highly HIGHLY recommended!

Stellar food and service. Its the best kept secret neighborhood joint tat gives you that amazing meal, with high quality ingredients without stuffiness. Be comfortable, be casual, but bring your discerning palate and appreciation for truly fine cuisine. And the wine doesnt disappoint.

Most amazing experience I have had at a restaurant. Took my wife here for her birthday. From the time you walk in the door till the time you leave you are taken on an epic journey in the world of food. The atmosphere, the staff and the amazing pairing of flavors in the different dishes is simply amazing. This is definitely a hidden gem in Phoenix that everyone needs to experience at least once.

Wow!... just wow! Blown away by the food and service. My boyfriend and I sat out on the patio and enjoyed 4 different magical choices from the menu. We started off with the Beef tartare then followed that with the chorizo mussels. We each sipped on a delicious cocktail as we enjoyed our final courses of roasted squash tortelli and octopus with chorizo for our main course. I would strongly recommend everything that we ordered to any foodies!!!! The crazy thing is the service we received was as good as the food. If you haven’t tried this place yet you need to.

A cozy place in downtown Phoenix, Restaurant Progress serves dinner from 5-10 pm Tuesday-Thursday and from 5-11 pm Friday-Saturday. The restaurants bar , serving tables and kitchen are all in one area attached to a small outdoor space for those who prefer to sit there. My food was delicious and I enjoyed my whole experience of dining in this restaurant.A cozy restaurant for dinner with great food.

I recently had the most amazing dinner here. We opted for the 5 course with wine pairing and since I love trying new and unique food combinations, it was such an incredible experience. Actually, one of a kind. Our server was amazing. I was so impressed and I cant wait to come back!

Tasting menu is worth 2 hours and excellent food at each course. Service attentive and on top of everything. Cherry tomato salad fresh and lots of different tastes. Each course was same level of excellence. Duck breast surrounded by parsnip puree that was a perfect complement to the duck.

If I were asked what is the best restaraunt in the city at this moment i would say restaurant progress. From chef to staff to ambience to menu to everything, they perfected the dining experience. Everything was top notch. Originality in the menu, well trained and wonderful staff and service, cool atmosphere, it hit on all notes. The dishes popped with flavors on well conceived and executed dishes. A real get.

We recently went to Restaurant Progress for a special night out and were very pleased with food, service and presentations. It was awesome. My only complaint, and it is fairly big and the reason I give it 4 stars, is because of my main course. I had octopus and it was absolutely delicious but I only got one tentacle - one! And a bunch of clam shells. Very disappointing on that course but the rest was great. May try this again to see if they are more generous.

I cant say enough good things about this restaurant. The service was personable and yet not intrusive. The atmosphere is rather quiet but not boring at all. The decor is perfect. The food is truly inspired. The flavors complemented each other perfectly. I have rarely had a meal this amazing. It is a higher end restaurant, so plan on staying a bit and paying for what you get. I cant recommend this restaurant enough.

Restaurant progress was fantastic. This was our first time coming here and we choose to do the chefs tasting menu. We were very pleased with all five of the courses. It was great that they served us different items so we could taste each others plates and get even more variety. We were definitely pleased with the experience and would recommend this place.

This was an amazing dining experience. We got to sit outside in the patio in the afternoon and as the sun set the lights turned on and made the setting very romantic. Restaurant Progress is one of the finest restaurants in Phoenix. The food is magical, prepared to perfection and with superb ingredients, and it is honest food you eat. The scallop crude blew my mind away, and I could never fathom how good raw scallops tasted. The ambiance is perfect, and the waitstaff very well trained. This restaurant is en par with Tratto.
