Hands down one of the best Korean spots in the Bay Area. Their Ddeokkbokki is SO good, the sauce being actually saucy (just like my Korean BFF makes) and not disappointingly soupy like some other spots Ive had. Perfect warm comfort food. And same with their cold kimchi noodles, omg, DIVINE. Such a delicious summer dish that I will enjoy all seasons as long as they have it. I will absolutely be spending lots of my money here making my tummy happy 😍

Enjoyed bibimbap for lunch with their in-house dining experience.Food was delicious, as usual.Service excellent.Staff wore masks.Loved their in-door dining set-up. Tables had tall screens to separate diners from each table. Hand sanitizer on each table. Place was well kept and clean.

Very delicious and authentic. A little bit overpriced compared to those in K-town at LA, but considering inflation, COVID impact, and it’s probably the only choice for real good Korean food in Petaluma, it’s acceptable.

Incredible, we had banchan, spicy shrimp and jabchae for lunch. Very reasonably priced a d very good food. Im used to Korean in SF, but hands down I prefer this over any of the restaurants I have visited before.

This place is great...Im from Petaluma but, no longer living there but, My family comes here quite often. This place is always great service, food good....Kal-bi my go to and the soft kimchi tofu soup is great. The side they put out is the perfect amount &we always ask for more lol 😆 😂

It was ok, the food was not bad, but not great. We thought some if the food was less flavorful compared to other Korean restaurants. The kimchi pancake was a bit thick and soggy (we tend to like a little bit crispy at least on edges). What was weird though was they would randomly tell potential customers they were closed, but then they’d let in other customers that came in afterwards. Then when we asked for more rice they told us they ran out of rice and couldn’t give us more, but then we saw some new customers come in and order rice with their dinner. Some weird service. Maybe they just don’t care.We won’t be going back.

This is a great Korean restaurant especially for someone new to Korean cuisine. They have a great online ordering system and are partnered with Petaluma Food Taxi for delivery.

This restaurant has turned Korean food into an almost-weekly comfort food necessity for me. Daniel, the owner/server is friendly, has a fantastic memory for your preferences and provides a welcoming environment for his customers. The food is fresh and tasty! For any newbies to Korean food, I highly recommend the Chicken Dolsot Bibimbap pictured here. It’s a delightful combination of rice, cooked veggies and grilled chicken, served in a hot stone pot with a poached egg on top. It comes with an accompaniment of six small bowls of amazing pickled veggies and Kim Chi. You won’t be disappointed.

I’m Korean, and enjoy making Korean food at home. I don’t always have the time or the energy to cook intricate meals (as many Korean dishes tend to be), so I am so grateful to have a local restaurant that I can depend on to make superb and authentic Korean food. The dishes are absolutely flavorful, and they also make their banchan excellently. I really appreciate the variety of ingredients used for banchan, as well as the freshness of all their ingredients. The generous portions and extra items are certainly noticed and appreciated. Additionally, I know that a lot of effort goes into packing everything so neatly while we can only get take-out. Thank you for staying open during the pandemic and making consistently delicious food. Looking forward to dining in safely!

The food here is AMAZING. I cannot say enough about how good everything is, especially the bibimbap. I can honestly say this is the best Korean food I’ve had! The service is outstanding as well, they’re so kind and polite. Always with a smile even when I’m sure they’re overwhelmed with orders.

Good Korean food, wonderful owners. I also see that they are kind and respectful to their waitstaff.

Clean and simple decor. Husband runs the front of house and wife runs the kitchen and thats it. So there will be delays on when your food comes out. Reasonably priced for the portions the freshness and quality of the food is on point.

Our family loves this restaurant. Every dish is delicious. They offer a great option for Korean food which is authentic and there are options for the less adventurous and foodies alike.

Amazing food! hooked us up pretty fat and still doing take out orders. Highly recommend, had no idea it was there until all the other restaurants were closed and that was the only place open!

Their food really is that good. Delicious soups. Unusual and tasty appetizer treats. Spicy stir-fry. Try the beef bulgogi. Wow!

The staff are always pleasant and welcoming. The menu isnt the largest, but has a great variety and there is something for everybody - including a number of vegetarian options. Even when busy, the staff are attentive and the wait to receive your food is reasonable. It is very family-friendly and has become our go-to local Korean spot. Worth a visit!

We have eaten Korean food in numerous locations. LA and SF etc.And in Korea various times. Soban has a modest exterior. But the service and food is excellent. Theyre as good as the best anywhere!

I tried Korean restaurants everywhere I go. This is one of the best places to get authentic Korean food. Their pancakes (especially seafood) are the best I ever had.

Excellent food and very authentic! Dont be intimidated if youre unfamiliar with Korean cuisine. Have the server guide you through the menu to your liking. So glad we have expanding ethnic cuisine in Petaluma.

Best and only korean food Ive found north of SF. Their spicy beef soup (yukaejjjang) is like happiness in a bowl.Hope they expand into more space and offer ayce kbbq someday

Warm reception and service. The place is warm and inviting. We had the seafood pancake, Spicy chicken stirfry, BBQ short ribs and the seafood rice in the clay pot. It was all delicious. We will be back to try more.

This Korean restaurant was my first. I loved all that I ordered. They offer wonderful vegetarian and vegan dishes, too! My tea was comforting on that particulary cold day. Im looking forward to taking friends and family with me next time.

Oh my GOODNESS! This place is amazing in every way possible. The food, the servers, the atomosphere, everything was beyond my expectations. The food was amazing, and an amazing way for people to dip their feet into korean cuisine. The servers were so polite and kind, being very good with making sure our waters were full and we were happy with the food. The restaurant was very comforting and warm feeling, and I immediately felt comfortable. I recommend this place 100%.

Very good Modern Korean home made dishes while keeping an authentic tastes. They are using natural chicken and not adding MSG (some third party products might contain it though). I think they are the best in North Bay and very competitive even all of Bay Area.

First time eating Korean bbq. Service was excellent. Our waiter did a wonderful job explaining the dishes. Food was fantastic. Strongly recommend the sea snails and bulgogi. Spicy means SPICY here.

Soban is so great! We used to have to drive to Santa Rosa for Korean food. It is so nice to have such a good restaurant so close to home. Kind of tucked away in a shopping center, so you are not likely to just stumble upon it. They use fresh ingredients and make their own pickles. The owners are very nice and hardworking people. We go there every week or two. Best Korean food in the north bay!

Very attentive and kind staff, delicious, attractive menu and a stylish, clean environment. Randomly, they also have awesome beer options (Deschutes, Stone and Mad River were among the selection when I visited), which I was not expecting! Cant wait to come back 😃

My wife and I have been to Soban in Petaluma about 7 times since it opened up a little over a month ago, and every time its been fantastic! Originally we are from Southern CA — and having sought out some of the best Korean restaurants between San Diego and LA, and having lived in/traveled South Korea for several months, I have some pretty high expectations for good Korean food, and Soban is among the best Korean restaurants Ive tried. Having said that, in regards to traditional Korean food in the Bay Area, its second to none.Additionally, its pretty cool that Soban is family-owned and operated — run by a husband and wife team who are some of the kindest and sincere people weve ever met. Also, as a self-defined beer connoisseur, they have a surprisingly awesome selection of craft beer; even some from San Diego, which I loved. Anyway, I highly recommend trying Soban Korean Cuisine, whether youre craving Korean food or you just need a really good beer.

Been here six or seven times and each time theyve been absolutely fantastic. The ddeokbokki, pancakes and galbi are my favorites. Theyre in a small place and usually fairly busy but Ive never been unable to get seated within a few minutes. Worst-case scenario Soban is definitely worth the wait.

I wan on the way to Santa Rosa and stopped by this small Korean restaurant. and what a surprise....I am a Korean and know what the Korean foods taste like and they served me good Korean foods. Satisfied.

So many good things about Sobans food and service that I I hate to comment on the very minor critique of the food that we encountered in our dining experience. Although the food was very good, both my dining partner and I found the marinate just a touch to sweet to our liking. The sweetness tended to hide rather than enhance the wonderfully prepared meat in our dishes. The only other critique is about the kimchee which we found to be OK but could probably do with a bit more fermenting and seasoning. The overall dining experience was very positive and these small criticisms are perhaps due to our personal preferences rather than a reflection of our positive dining experience. Let me add, that the service was top-notch and we will return to dine again and to drink the wonderful varieties of on-tap beer that you can get with your well prepared meal.

Pretty reasonably good Korean food with reasonable prices. I want to say it wasnt spectacular, but it was decently good, and for Korean in this area thats hard to find.

Having been here a few times I’ve had the pleasure of trying many items from the menu... And let me tell you... This place rocks! Excellent Korean food, very friendly and fast service. The pancakes are delicious. The Dolsot Bibimbap is hella good. The glass noodle and veg starter is awesome... And last but most certainly not least, the pickles to start the meal are out of this world! Always fresh and excellent food.

This is my favorite Korean restaurant in the area (I travel from Santa Rosa to Petaluma for their food!)Everything is so tasty...and they do not use MSG. A perfect place to come when Im craving Korean cuisine. The owners are hard working, conscientious people who value the quality of the food they provide to their customers and refuse to compromise. Everything that comes out of the kitchen has been personally prepared or monitored by Jung for quality. She wants everyone who comes to the restaurant to experience what a home cooked Korean meal is like.They use organics when possible and only use high quality meat. Also, their Kimchi is made in-house! A gem of a place, a total hidden treasure. Also a beautiful and clean restaurant with great beer on tap!

Great Bibimbap in the hot stone bowl, yummiest in the Bay Area! Great service, I wish I could order one of everything but I cant get over their bibimbap. I would love a little more variety for the side dishes offered free with any meal!

COVID-19 Update: The food is still incredible here and now they have soft-serve available for take-out at the restaurant by the pint! Take advantage of being forced to do take-out and get Ssam, lettuce leaves for wraps and a spicy paste to go on your lettuce, to go with one of your entrees and practice your skills without the risk of public embarrassment. Then, when we can all go out to eat again we can show off our impressive chops at creating delicious little bites of amazingness! If Ssam is an unfamiliar concept check out videos from Serious Eats and Eater for some instruction on eating Korean BBQ with Ssam!The food here is AMAZING! Ive tried most of the menu and can say unequivocally that it is all delicious. The spicy dishes are SPICY, so those with a low threshold should take note. Try some cold soups or noodles on a hot day, be a little adventurous: You will not be disappointed! The proprietor is one of the nicest, most welcoming, restaurateurs you will meet and if you go in for take-out you might get treated to some K-Pop on the stereo in the restaurant. Kicking myself for not eating here sooner. Make sure to get the side dishes and kimchi!

For the North bay peeps, it gives us the feel of the East bay, but not the long drive. Banchan could be more plentiful but overall it hits the spot for korean. Japchae, seafood pancake, mackeral, and soonduboo. Highly recommend a visit!

Great food, wonderful service, and simple but clean and organized interior design. They have menu items that you wont typically find in other Korean restaurants, such as a great microbrewery selection on tap, chive pancakes, Kim chi fried rice, vegetarian options.

Surprised to find genuine Korean food in Petaluma, but this hit the spot! Our waiter was the owner, and his wife does the cooking.I had japchae and tteokbokki (spicy, chewy rice cake), and both were fabulous! Hope this place can stick around. A welcome change from Thai, Vietnamese, and sushi.Also, while the decor is simple, it felt much nicer inside than a typical grocery parking lot restaurant.

Bland at best. Service is very slow. I think they forgot about us because the three other customers they seated after us got their food first. If I didnt ask where our food was, they would have totally forgotten about us. Bibimbap was disappointing. Kimchi appetizers were lacking in flavor and spice. So yeah. Never again!

This is the LAST time I ever eat at that place. I ordered the octopus lunch special and the owner proceeds to tell me that the cost of octopus has gone up and that he will have to charge me $5 for ban chan. He said he needs to make a profit somewhere.Then take it off the menu or put MKT like other restaurants. How is that the customers problem? Koreans are known for their de jup = hospitality. He said most Koreans cook at home and his American customers dont know the difference. Ive eaten here a handle of times, trying to support local as well as fellow country business owner but, IM DONE. You are getting VERY little and being OVER charged. Save your cravings for Oakland or Tov Tofu in Santa Rosa. ITs so MUCH BETTER!!!P.S. Found hair in the ban chan before and I let it go... but dont be rude to a customer because the price of goods went up. Not cool ~
