The kitchen is squeaky clean and if you order a fish like bawal, it is fried fresh. The banana rice is presentable. Good vibes this place. Price wise, a bawal is rm 14. Banana rice at rm 7. The food is fresh and agreeable. In case you are undecided, there is a queue outside of presumably repeat customers to note.
This place has faced the test of time and succeeded because I came here in the 60s and still come here in the 21st century. The crowd has been the same so that speaks for itself. As usual must come early before makan time then again many people already come early so booking a table isnt easy. The quality of the good people say has dropped but what the heck the time is now and people are still jamming this place. Curry taste like real curry and everything taste so delicious so make sure your wallet is thick with cash. A place I will still come again for banana leaf dishes, this is my reference though there may be others as good.
Ohmygod!!!! I cant get over the banana leave, fried squid, mutton masala, fried senangin fish to die for
Absolutely amazing place! I love the food. The price is so affordable! Cant get anything at this price and quality in my hometown! Totally amazing! Great experience! I just wish I knew their langauge to communicate better. Luckily my friend could speak their language! Totally amazing experience! Unforgettable!
The masala dosas are one of the best!
Came here for banana leaf, but disappointed with the food taste. Curry and sides are kinda tasteless. Same goes to the side dishes we ordered, fried chicken and sotong. Not worth it for the price we paid for. Service is slower than expected and staff are not attentive.I would recommend other places if you dont want to get disappointed. Seriously.
The roti canai is more than finger licking good. Yiu havent tried roti canai in KL or PJ if you havent eaten it here. No exaggeration. Rice and dishes are good. They serve one of the best dhal too. High quality food. No coconut milk used for those who prefer healthier cooking. The teh ais, or more specifically Teh Tarik Ais is one of the best in town. Perfect to go with roti canai or rice 👍
Follow SOP. Food quality maintained.
Roti canai is not good. Parking is hard to find. Teh tarik too sweet for me.
This place has been around way back since my secondary school days. Perhaps, this place evokes nostalgic feeling, which kept me returning to the shop whenever I am around the area looking for a light breakfast or banana leaf lunch
I love the food so much. Did not get to snap any photo bcoz my fingers just crawl the food right away they give me the veggies and rice and the three type of curry sauces (which u can scoop urself). I completely forgot. We ordered fish, spicy chicken, mutton and fried chicken. They served it hot and fresh. The chef never over cook the food, it keeps the moist and soft when u hv ur first bite. Staffs are kind and polite. Great experiences overall.
Parking is limited. Usually theres a queue so prepare to wait to be seated. Service is quick and prompt once seated. Signature food is roti canai & sotong goreng. Ikan bulus goreng costs RM7.50 per piece, which was soft and crispy at the same time. Choice of dhall sauce, sambar and coconut chutney accompanies roti, thosai or idli servings.
Greta place for roti canai after a while up Bt Gasing
CMCO. 5 Mar 2021.Raju Restaurant in Bukit Gasing is probably the most popular place serving banana leaf rice in town. We first ate the popular dishes here about 30 years ago and are hooked to it since. We came here for brunch today since inter-district travel is allowed. We ordered thosai and roti chanai set served on banana leaf instead of rice. Our favourite is the yummy fried tenggeri fish. As a starter we order the freshly fried wadai. The service crew is efficient and attentive. Prices have always been premium here in line with the quality of the dishes served. Parking is always a headache here but we were lucky to park at a bay within walking distance.
Fried fish is fresh but roti canai quality has really gone down over the years and cutleries were very dirty, every fork and spoon has dried curry or bits of food stuck on it. Eat here at your own risk.
Banana leaf vegetarian and non vegetarian foods with on spot fried, hot and spicy good foods to dine in with familys members.
The rava thosai and roti kosong are brilliant. The tea was less successful, too milky and not strong as I would prefer my tea to be.
Nice food. BLR with fried squid and chicken korma. Not too chili. Very tasty, fresh and chilled coconut. Nice value.
Good service. Before that... Its a most very clean n igenic coffee shop . Chinese and Malays crouds on the daily evening coffee. -- Raam Ramaiah.
Overall Food was average. Price expensive. Disappointed with fried squid with very chewy texture. Fried fish and yogurt were good. Fried chicken, gravy, veggies and resum were average.
Last last time ..food better than Now...more to improve
Food quality is still best in town though I missed the big old tree with shade when dining here every time.
Its a decent place for a meal but nothing exceptional. Service is good.
Excellent service. Delicious food. At the end happy tummy 😂
The food given by this restaurant is not enough. the weighing machine is inaccurate The cashier is also not friendly to listen to our comments/complaints. We are totally disappointed.
Good place to have roti canai. Best roti telur bawang and fried squid. Good place to have breakfast after hiking at bukit gasing. Parking is quite difficult to get if youre unlucky.
Not as great as it once was. Used to be extremely vibrant. Now rather quiet.
Not as good as before. But stoll satisfying
Delicious Indian foods. Great experience eating with banana leaf.
I was in Raju Jalan Chantek outlet a few months ago. Waiter dropped a bowl of curry on me. My clothes, handbag and purse were covered in curry. So I asked the boss how is she going to compensate me for the damage to my handbag and clothes. They refused to apologise or offer any compensation and tried to shove me out of the shop.I have been going there for 30 years and this was how they treated me. I wish I can give them zero star rating.
One of the best banana leaf meals in town.Food is always fresh and hot. You can get chicken or fish made in front of you. The veggies with the rice itself is good enough.Price little on the higher side. But the tasty food and friendly people compensate for that.
Educate Yr staffs... That they shouldnt stand in front of any fans.. When customers are sitting behind... As they stinks like hell....! Damn....
Food was ok. Less seats due to SOP for covid19. The standard Roti Kosong shrank alot
One of the better known banana leaf restaurant in kl. Must try their masala tosai. Delicious.
So much better than Nir****, bangsar. Compare the sotong goreng in terms of taste and portion to know more.
Have been eating here since little, enjoyed every food served especially chicken rendang and chicken masala. Friendly waiters too.
Good foods & services. My favorite Indians food in town.
Good banana leaf. Famous for its Roti
Best roti canai in town...
Very basic. Service was slow, but probably because there was 12 of us. Couples seemed to have no problem and were enjoying their food.
I went on a hike at Gasing Hill with my good old friend, Britney Spears. After that, we were feeling a bit peckish. we came across this imaginary hunger dream tiger who directed us to this restaurant. there, i was warmly greeted by casper the ghost. the food was heaven. i would recommend this place 100%
Food is great. Expect some waiting time for table due to a lot of people. But food serving time is fast.
Food is good and cheap. Vegetarian Banana leaf is quite pricy esp since they only provide 2 veges. You also have to ask for all the sides as they dont automatically give them with the banana leaf meal.
Went for my favorite lunch there - rice and deep fried squids with fish curry gravy, plus all the vegetables. Havent been there for at least 3, 4 years but the taste is still as I remembered it.Found out that the owner sadly passed away almost 3½ years ago and that his classic car collection was sold except for the Volvo that he first purchased (I think). Will definitely come again soon.
Staff very rude and super slow service. If the boss continues to let this happen, your shop is not gonna sustain in long term. Only tourists who don’t know the real taste of local indian food will visit there. Local people will never visit this shop! Will never return again to waste my money.
Typical Indian Banana Leaf restaurant, price on the high side but cooking was delicious. Recommended for hot & spicy food.
Good authentic Indian food, place a bit warm during lunch hour due to direct hot sun shine in to this place. Price is a bit high coz the food quality is there.
Super Yummy, my favourite Thosai here. Its a very old famous store. Okay service.
Price at high side. Taste are average.
Food is good, but the service is not so good
Long waiting time even though not much customers. Food is bland. Workers are all unorganized only owner was doing all the job. Price is super over rated
Very tasty food..
Fresh roti, fantastic curries and dips. Gets pretty packed on weekend mornings but be patient people eat and leave pretty quickly
My wife and I ate late lunch but food still hot. We had chicken lamb and fish fried. On banana leaves. With hot water and resam.
Great place to hangout. I love their roti canai and their fried fish is my all time favorite
After PKPP maybe can expand premise to fit in more table and chairs /outside shop entrance? Parking space limited
One of the best banana leaf rice restaurants in town. All of the fried items are served fresh and piping hot. Their sides are great too.
Good roti canal. We had the grilled sotong (very good) and fried chicken (mediocre) too. Usually very busy in the morning so prepared to wait for a table.
Poor and rude service by waiters. Look down at customer when refuse the extras. Food acceptable
Best roti canal and dhal
Food is not as good as it was before. Most annoying are the staff. Except for the cashier, the rest are rude and arrogant. Better try the other restaurant down the road.
Went to the restaurant in the morning. It was crowded with people even on a the eve of CNY. Ordered the a normal thosai and one masala thosai. The taste was good as we can see each piece was freshly prepared pair together with dal and curry.
Not a good place. Good location. Food isnt tasty and gave me tummy ache.
