Adorable place to naina devi temple. Jay mata di
The temple is well maintained with very decent staff. All pandits does not forces devotees to donate like others. The temple is on the top hill there are two ways of reaching it. From Chandigarh Manali highway take left from kaichi mor and in next 20kms you will reach the temple. The second route is from anandpur sahib... around 22kms. Once you reach the temple it is mandatory to register with your local id at the office at bus stand. Dont take prasad at the entry as the shopkepeers will charge a lot. However u can get it for half price one u reach nearby the temple.

Naina Devi Temple, one of the 51 Shakti Peeths of Maa Durga, is located in Bilaspur district of Himachal Pradesh. This grand temple situated on the hills of Shivalik mountain range is situated at an altitude of 11000 meters above sea level. It is believed that the eyes of Mother Sati fell at this place. That is why this Shaktipeeth was named Naina Devi. This temple is the center of worship of the devotees of Durga Mata. Learn interesting stories related to it.According to a legend, Lord Shiva got distressed when Goddess Sati surrendered herself to Agni, after which she started carrying the corpse of Mata Sati on the shoulder. Seeing this form of Bholenath, all the gods were frightened and came to request Lord Vishnu. Vishnu then disillusioned Lord Shiva by splitting Satis body in pieces with his chakra. It is believed that Shri Naina Devi Temple is the place where the eyes of Goddess Sati fell.According to another legend, another story about the temple is also prevalent. It is said that there was a boy named Naina, who once came out to feed his cattle. During that time he saw a white cow pouring milk on a stone. He continued to see her for the next several days. Then one night while he was sleeping, Mother Naina came in his dream and told him that the stone is his body. After that the boy named Naina told Raja Bir Chand about his dream. Then the king got Shri Naina Devi built a temple at the same place. This temple is also famous by the name Mahishpeeth. It is believed that Shri Naina Devi killed the demon named Mahishasura here. Mahishasura was a powerful demon who was blessed with immortality by Brahma. However, for the end of it, Brahmaji had also talked about his end by an unmarried woman. But Mahishasura left worrying about this and started creating terror in the earth and heaven due to his ego, due to which all the gods combined their powers, troubled and invoked a goddess to end Mahishasura. For this, the goddess received different types of weapons by all the gods. But unaware of this truth, Mahishasura, enchanted by the beauty of the Goddess, offers him a marriage. The goddess says that if he defeats her in a war, she will marry him. But in this crusade, Mahishasura is defeated at the hands of the goddess and the goddess removes her two eyes, ending it. For this reason, this temple was named Naina Devi.According to another legend, it is believed that once a gem of Mata Parvatis ear ornaments fell into water and reached Patalalok. When this happened, Lord Shiva sent his Ganas to find the gem. But he could not find it, due to which, Lord Shiva opened his third eye and then Naina Devi appeared. He then went to Patal and asked Sheshnag to return the gem, then he presented the gem to Lord Shiva and apologized for his mistake.
