I have visited this restaurant for the first time this month (Sep 2020). I got the menu from the person whom I believe runs this place. We were the only customer in the restaurant (there were no customers waiting in the parking lot as well).Less than a minute after he gave us the menu paper, This person rushed us to make an order, we asked him to give us a minute but he kept rushing. Even while saying the order he kept asking yes next, next then.. and so on!It was annoying! Finally he said that he’ll get the order to parking lot in 15 mins. We waited outside for 25 mins, finally we got the order.Food taste was good. We got a soup and noodles, it tasted good and the quantity was very good. Price was costly.

A hole in the wall korean eatery, but wow! The food is amazing. No. 29, homes style ramen, spicy version, has very unique smokey taste. Caught me off guard but my taste buds were very delighted! The kimchi has a different taste to it, to me its the best kimchi I ever tasted. To me everything seems so traditional, my palette is very happy. Highly recommended. I will return to this establishment as my go to for korean food.

Definitely the best dubu in the area. Youll notice all the other Korean restaurants in the area went out of business. This is because Hwang Bu Ja has defeated them in the free market.

Down home, authentic Korean food. Reasonable prices, and generous, attentive, family-run service. Easy on-off location from Route 46 (eastbound). Try them - ask for recommendations from them if you dont know anything about Korean food; they will help you. Healthy and satisfying.

We ordered their Soondobu (tofu soup).I ordered #4 (clams) while my buddy ordered #7 (beef). But after many visits and trying most of their menu, our favorite is #1 (a combination of everything).I personally like mine spicy . It definitely has a nice kick to it but will not hurt you. But most Americans Ive dined with orders mild and they seem to feel that is the perfect balance of spiciness.Another really popular item is their BBQ short ribs. Can you say finger kicking good?!?!!The food is delicious and extremely reasonably priced! However, I have to deduct 1 star for the small appetizers that come with the tofu soups. You get 1 raw egg, 1 small plate of non spicy bean sprouts, 1 small plate of mild Kim chi and 1 small plate of mild cucumbers.Overall, this is a hidden gem in Morris County. Didnt think Ill find a good Korean joint Id like outside of Queens or Fort Lee.

Have been there quite some years ago, and just went there last week. They have a kind of fixed menu. Not so many customers, but have waiting for almost 40 min. In general the good was good, but the rice in the pot, what happened? The bottom is all burned, so there is quite a lot you cant eat. Wasted a lot! All employees are very serious, no smile on their face, music doesnt fit the restaurant.

We ate here with friends who are knowledgeable about Korean food and were delighted with their recommendation. The house specialty is tofu soup in various flavors, served boiling hot with a raw egg to be stirred into the soup and cooked while its still boiling. Very flavorful, very nice. The meal is served with rice and a variety of pickled vegetable. A real find; highly recommended.

Best korean place within 10 miles of me. Their jjajangmyeon is veryyyy good, just the right amount of salty and sweet, and the noodles are always just right. We usually get the kimchi stew as well because thats my favorite Korean dish and it never disappoints. The jjamppong can be a little better but worth having every once in a while. Budaejigae is also okay but id rather just have the kimchijigae.

This is one of the few times I will ever say, Do Not Go There. We were advised by google that this may be a Korean Restaurant that is in the are you are at. My family and I went in and it was 5:00PM and there was only another family there. That was mistake #1. The owner seemed to be on the other side like some kind of bad italian movie where he had some food and reading a newspaper. The order was made, myself and another person ordering what is called bibim naengmyeon which is cold buckwheat noodles that are in a hot pepper sauce, this is different from mul naengmyeon which is the same noodles in a beef broth which is more a soup. When the order came we had a mix of both which surprised us. It was a spice noodle naengmyeon with beef broth (which doesnt really exist, mistake #2). I have eaten at quite a few Korean restaurants from the area Flushing, Manhattan, Fort Lee, Ridgefield, Edison, etc and this was the first time I ever encountered this while ordering this same dish all over. When the other person asked if this was right. The owner immediately took offense, throwing his newspaper to the ground and started shouting Weve been doing this for over 10 years this way It seemed right away that that person seemed offended and clearly it was not the first time someone questioned this. He got right in front of the other person personal space and actually put his finger on the persons chest. That is when the son of the owner who was the waiter/manager had to pull his dad off him. I could not believe this. At this point I had no desire to eat anymore but of anything I ate I found the food to be lacking in any flavour or quality. We left soon after and the son said we had to pay for our meal and charged us full price. The son was also quite disrespectful and said that you came here and ate our food. Seriously he works with his father most likely because he could not find a real job anywhere else with his attitude. We gave zero tip in the credit card section but found out they tried to give themselves a 100% tip. We had to dispute this with the credit card company and was found 100% in our favor. We found their recipe wrong, tasteless, and the atmosphere was not good.

My group (6 adults, 1 toddler) came here on a Saturday night. They did not have that many customers at the time. My husband was sitting at one end of the table with our daughter. We asked for a high chair and when the waiter brought it, he placed it close to the other end of the table. My husband moved the high chair closer to him and placed it to the head of the table next to him. When the waiter saw it, he practically yelled at us from across the room saying that the high chair couldnt be there because they needed to walk through there and that was why he placed the high chair on the other end to begin with. We perfectly understood his point and had no problem moving the high chair back, but the manner in which he said it was unacceptable. We decided to let it go and give him a break since we saw only 2 staff - the waiter and a bus boy - working that night and figured he was just exhausted. We placed our order and everything seemed fine. One person from our group arrived a little late and was unable to give her order the same time we did. When we tried to call the waiter to give our friends order, we could tell by his facial expression and body language that he looked annoyed. Our food finally arrived and the waiter dropped off 2 stone pots with white rice on our table. 4 people ordered food that comes with rice. Waiter never explained that the rice was to be shared by 4 people. He didnt provide small bowls or plates either. By the way, the rice served to us was practically burnt! The quality of food wasnt great either. We go to Fort Lee and Palisades Park a lot and are familiar with good quality Korean/Japanese food. Our experience was just uncomfortable because the waiter seemed irritated the entire time we were there. We witnessed him somewhat yelling at a couple who were sitting at a table meant for a bigger group and told them to move. While the waiter was in the kitchen, another small group came and the bus boy directed them to a table. When the waiter came out, he appeared upset again at the seating arrangement.Definitely wont be back. We actually wanted to go to Bonchon (which was in the same area) but it was crowded so we ended up going to this restaurant. My advice to the management and staff of this establishment: A little polishing on your customer service skills will surely go a long way.

If you love sundubu, this is the place for you! This has the best sundubu Ive had. I cant speak to the rest of the menu because I always order one of the many styles of sundubu. When you go to a specialty place, you get the specialty! When you order it they bring out an egg you can crack into your still boiling sundubu at the table and a pot of stone bowl rice still sizzling. The banchan arent the best but serviceable.
