We had dinner here on 10.09.2021. Inside the restaurant is very beautiful, nice atmosphere, polite staff. Food was good but expensive, one dish starts from 23€ and more and its not extraordinary. Very hot, as no window or air conditioner. Because it was too crowded, they forgot to bring frites to the tartar that we ordered. Otherwise, it worth to visit once, this very old and famous place in Paris.

It was here that Benjamin Franklin prepared the Treaty of Alliance with France (Louis XVI’s plan for alliance with the new Republic-February 6. 1778). Upon Franklins death in 1790, a funeral service was improvised at the café in front of his portrait. Other notable diners include Marie Antoinette, Napoleon Bonaparte, Voltaire, Rousseau, Thomas Jefferson & many more!
Super cool and historic place. Ask the staff about the history. Your boy Ben Franklin & Thomas Jefferson would sip coffee and get crunk here. Food is exquisite (especially when you take into consideration French cuisine is less than per Italian/Spanish counterparts) Its a museum that serves great food. Go spend some money.
10 stars for the ambience, 2 stars for the food, but ultimately Id give 0 stars because of very likely food poisoning. Three of us (in a group of nine distributed over 2 tables) were sick the night after dinner (which was last night). Will not go back.
Worse treatment I have ever had in a Paris Restaurant. The waiter was extremely rude. Though the table next to us got olives and bread right away we never got any even after we requested several times. My wife ordered beef well done, sent it back three times and it was still rare. It became obvious we were unwelcome and they became so blatantly rude my wife was in tears and we had to leave. If you dont want Americans in your restaurant put a sign out front. We love Paris and the people, but if your American avoid this restaurant.
Go for the history. Its been there forever, and tons of cool people across time have eaten and drank in the same spot you do. Food wise, its good. But you can get similar fare for less around the corner if you want.
We would have loved to love our experience but sadly The Procope did not meet our expectations. Once seated, we were told there were about 1/3 of the items on the menu that were not available including some of the items the restaurant in known for. The dishes we ended up ordering were simply okay. The escargots were good but the rest was not. The restaurant did have great service and they offered us champagne to apologize for the situation. The restaurant did not seem to have a ventilation system to cool down the interior and it was unpleasantly hot inside. We do hope this was just a one-off, as some previous reviews have been good.
Second time - we have brought our son to this historic place - one complaint we have is the desert - java lava chocolate cake should have come hot and not that tiny, and when we asked for why it was cold, his response was ‘it is cold served’ which is ridiculous to counter that way for a desert known and named to be hot in the first place. I would not go again, food qualty is not that great either; chicken was super dry in one of the traditional recipe we ordered. Though, you definitely need to see the inside decor for its historic value.
Made a short stop here with 4 young kids before the dinner rush so they could try escargot and get to see a fancy french restaurant. The staff was awesome and the kids loved the experience!

My wife and I visited right around opening time for a quick snack (cake/ice cream) and were seated right away.The staff were very welcoming and friendly. The food was pretty tasty too, with a decent though not overwhelming number of dishes to choose from.The best bit about the cafe is the history. You’re free (within reason) to look around the place and look at all the pictures and items of certain famous guests from times past.Recommended.

Very old and famous restaurant in Paris. The dishes are good, tasty, but not as perfect as the atmosphere. The stuff is friendly. Prices are not very high. I enjoyed my evening there. But if you want to have dinner there, you’d better book a table, otherwise you will stay in a queue for more than half an hour. Nice for romantic evening for two.
The receptionist gentleman couldn’t find my name on the reservation list and asked me how I made a reservation. I told him that I reserved a table on the website of the restaurant. Then, he searched again and still couldn’t find my name. He asked me again how I made my reservation. I told him the same. He still couldn’t find my name even when I spelled it out. Only after I showed him a confirmation e-mail that the restaurant sent me could he find my name. I don’t understand why it was so difficult.Apart from this, everything was perfect.
Historical, iconic place. Traditional French cuisine, everything was so delicious and decadent. Food is elegantly plated and looks like artwork. Service is very friendly and welcoming. There is a legend that Napoleon lost his hat there so the hat in the window of the restaurant claimed to be his. His or not, it’s great marketing and paying tribute to great times in their history. Hats off to chef who made absolutely delicious, incredibly tasty dishes, paired with equally flavourful wine it was great meal and memorable time in Paris.
Great old-fashioned venue. You can either book in advance or get a table as a walk-in. Service was superb! Staff was very nice and polite. Loved their fixed menu with onion soup, complimentary bread, and duck confit with mashed potatoes. Everything was just delicious! The rosé I had by the glass was very nice too. Overall, a great option to dine in Paris. They open all week long which is a plus too.

Friendly English-speaking staffs, good service, food is tasty and not so pricey (given it’s french cuisine). One of the oldest restaurant in Paris, even only for the decoration and atmosphere, it’s worth trying! I really enjoyed my dinning there!Lunch set is less than 30, good wine available for less than 10 euro. Recommend to book a table, but 1 day in advance would be enough.
Very bad service. The host has the worst attitude ever.Don’t go if you don’t have a reservation, they make you wait for more than an hour even though they say it’s going to be less.It’s not worth it
O my... For me it was a dream come true. Having a plate of Le Procope Signature, sitting under Napoleons famous hat, on a Saturday afternoon... What else could I ask for?The plate was marvelous, enough for 3-4 people, I couldnt finish it. All type of seafood, even those I couldnt recognized. Tasted all, and almost finished the whole plate. Service was good, French style.Go!

This is a the oldest french restaurant in Paris which is still open from 1686 (!) The food is french and the service is great. On the left side at the entrance you can find Napoleon Bonaparte hat, which was left there when he could not pay the bill (so the story says).Business lunch is good, but prices for every extra are amazingly high, so note that in advance.
The place is chick, it has a nice vintage decoration and cozy atmosphere. It has some historical value which makes it interesting to visit. The service is good, our food arrived pretty quickly. Great food, sidewalk seating (would you eat any other way in Paris?), and excellent wine selection dont come cheap. Service wasnt too fast either, but we got used to it after a few days in France and taking in the natural rhythm of the city.We had the beef stew, pork curry and fowl with cabbage. All were excellent choices; quite filling, tender and unique.The only thing that was a negative in this whole experience is the fact that they have bathrooms with a hole in the ground and two handles to grab onto. Quite strange for an upscale French place like this.
Wanted to go here since its the oldest restaurant in Paris-1686! Went our last night. Food was good though my medium rare steak came out well done. After a short conversation they reluctantly took it back and brought me a properly cooked one. The place itself it amazing inside. Make sure to take a leisurely stroll to the bathroom. Good experience overall but very expensive. Be prepared.
We stumbled upon this restaurant on our first night in Paris after traveling for 11 hours. Without knowing any of its fascinating history, we were attracted to the 18th century style decor and the lively atmosphere. Obviously we didn’t have a reservation but the hostess was extremely helpful and we sat in the waiting area and had some of their house wine, which was delicious. It was a Friday so we did have to wait a while but it was a very pleasant experience. If you decide to dine here, read up on the story about this cafe because it is so interesting! So when we finally sat down at our table, we ordered the prix fixe menu (entree + main or main + desert), which is quite reasonably priced for a nice restaurant in Paris (€35 per person I believe). Food was great and the servers were really busy but had amazing work ethics. We had a great time there. But more importantly, I felt like we kinda became part of the restaurant’s history, along with all the artists and philosophers who once gathered here to hang out! Really cool spot

You must visit this place even if to imagine that you are sitting in the same place where Voltaire, Rousseau, Napoleon and Benjamin Franklin once had lunch. The food is absolutely amazing, every dish was delicious. We had a mix up with Filet Mignon meaning pork for the French by default while English speakers expect beef but that is my fault for not researching. Skip their prefixed menus and specials and go for the French classics, you wont be disappointed. We had foie gras, onion soup, seared tuna, great escargot and pork filet mignon (I dont eat pork though but potatoes from that dish were great). For the amazing level of food the price was very reasonable because its not a tourist trap, we saw locals eat there also.
I have daily menu for late lunch(early dinner), staff are nice and I ate very well. The atmosphere is pretty old French, like it.
Well, too much touristic, I was not impressed. The dessert was good, but the dish was average.

I was hoping to have an authentic experience at the place marketed as the oldest cafe in the world. However they only serve espresso coffee drinks. The espresso machine was invented in the 1900s... Would have loved a coffee the way they made it in the 1600s. The rest of the building kinda of interesting to walk though thought.

Nice and cosy restaurant.I found the food really good and tasty, even the bread with butter was so tasty.For sure try the creme brulee, it was extremely delicious!We didnt have reservation, but after an hour it got crowded.

Came here on our last evening in Paris and had a solid french meal. My wife had the fish and risotto which she enjoyed. I had the beef cheeks which were also pretty good. The foie gras appetizer was good, too. The highlight, for us, was the escargot appetizer - they were by far the best ones we tried in Paris.
On the pricey side. Had the 100 day old chicken casserole, was very decent. The beef cheek was very well braised and goes well with the macaroni. The escargot was steamy hot, maybe abit too hot to be served. Onion soup was mildly warm. Desserts were delicious. Overall service was decent. But nothing significantly impressive.

One of the oldest coffee in paris. In the old times (17th century) they decided that coffee was noble enough to be a moment for gathering of great minds of the times, bars being for lower class minds. The interior is great and very cosy.

Beautiful old french restaurant in the center of Paris. Exellent service with good English and English menus. Notre dame only a short walk away perfect for a romantic evening or catch up with friends. Traditional French food and good selection of wine. Eveyone enjoy there meal however if traveling from overseas meat is rarer then expected eg from Australia or US medum well done stake will seem medum rare. This is common in france so request to be cooked slightly longer. Booking is essential. There was also a cool little jazz bar not far away with a good night life in the general area. All good fun. I have included an image of the menu that also contains history of this fine establishment. It dates back to the 1600s with many famous historical figures frequented this place one could imagine these historic folk enjoying coffee and conversing in the little dining rooms surrounded by books and ornate fixtures. Very cool. There are also many old art works of French culture. A truly unique ambience to be savoured.

Walk thru a doorway in the wall off the street and enter into a different place, into a narrow enclosed mall, continue further more and a cobble stone alley, lined with various types of restaurants, with outdoor seating, just a wonderful atmosphere, and ambience.We sat here, being one of the oldest established restaurants circa 1686 with history to boot.We ordered the salad for starters, followed by the the fish ( pollock), and the duck (canard), accompanied with a crisp, chilled rose, just great on a hot balmy night.This fish was cooked perfectly, nice and light. The duck leg was deep and complex flavoured, with mushrooms and a good bodied sauce,with baby potatoes.Followed by the classic dessert creme brulee. Could not fault a thing.Our waiter, who was fully in control in a relaxed way, made service a joy and enjoyably relaxed.Highly recommend this place!!! Fantastic!!!
Absolutely lovely lunch! We sat downstairs and enjoyed outstanding services. Everybody was so professional and courteous. The food was excellent too. Perfectly prepared salmon with caponata, amazing escalope Milanese and rigatoni pasta, delicious duck magret. We were celebrating my dad’s 82nd birthday and his dessert arrived with a sparkler in it while the restaurant staff softly sang Happy Birthday. It was unexpected and very sweet! A divine experience, we look forward to returning.
My braised beef cheek had a hair in it.. discovered it as I was just halfway through my dish. They took my plate away and did not even offer to replace it with a new dish. I was left there still hungry but just billed out as the excitement over the food was gone. They still included my HALF eaten braised beef cheek in the bill so we still had to explain to them that we are not happy to pay for it before they unwillingly took it off our final bill. ☹️
It is like being in another century. What a great experience. We had a very special time in this beautiful Restaurant. The Soup al oignons was the best I have ever had and the Creme Brulee was extremely delicious. Will be there again in May. Service was perfect and Cafe Procope will be my favorite Restaurant in Paris.

Came across this restaurant during a bike tour. Check out the second floor if youre a history buff. Recommend the hot chocolate, the whipped cream was to die for. Beat the rush by going in the morning.
We came here because my husband was very interested in the history of this restaurant. We weren’t quite hungry enough for a meal, so we decided to have some desserts. I ordered the sorbet and ice cream assortment, choosing raspberry, passion fruit and chocolate. They had really good, strong flavours. The service was friendly and the décor exuded faded opulence. If my parents visit Paris with me, I think they will appreciate a meal here, so I’ll be sure to come back.

Beautiful, historic decor, friendly, helpful service and DELICIOUS food. The Coq au Vin was sooo good. My hanger steak was juicy and perfectly medium. We had the dessert of the evening - a mango claflouti with mango ice cream. Very good. We considered the fixed price menu but decided to go a la carte. Even with my glass of champagne it was under 100 euros. We felt it was definitely worth it for the meal we enjoyed.
Its past its heyday. Tourist trap. Escargot was a let down, our entrees were good, but decor was dated. It needs a good refreshing. We had Veal stew and Braised beef cheeks. The wine menu could be better as well. My daughter liked her salmon kids plate, so that was good.
Oldest continuously running cafe in Paris. The story is Napoleon left his hat here to pay for his bill when he was a lieutenant. Prices in the menu was quite reasonable. Booking in advance recommended. They have 3 floors of dinning areas. We went late September only the 1st floor was almost full. Great rich onion soup! has more cheese than onion in it!
I dined in on December 24th. The place was pretty packed as a lot of restaurants were closed early. I waited 40 minutes to get my appetizer. I waited another 50 minutes to get my main meal. I then decided to order my dessert ahead of time to avoid any more delays; I got my dessert in 5 minutes while I was still working on my main meal. This place ruined my Christmas Eve dinner and I’m never coming back.Avoid this place at all costs during holiday seasons if you are planning to spend quality time with loved ones.

Its hard to find something negative about Le Procope. The place is just magical and the food is divine. Try the snails and the Coq au vin. Go there if you want to be transported to another era.
