The food and wine was great. Unfortunately they sat us on the other side of the road where there were just 3 tables. The other 2 were empty all night so it was lacking in atmosphere and we felt a bit forgotten about, constantly having to flag people down for service. As I paid the bill I mentioned this so they were aware and could improve. I was told they were busy, it was Saturday and then the host sarcastically wished me a lovely evening. Left a really sour taste to a meal that cost over £250. I’d skip it and go somewhere that cares more.
This one is for the foodies. Very unique and delicious menu with fresh local ingredients. Although it is on the higher end in terms of pricing, I absolutely recommend as one of the best restaurants in Sicily. You will be blown away by chefs creations. And make sure to try fish of the day in almond milk and lemon sauce.
Interesting menu, comfortable seating, nice decor, attentive service, great atmosphere!
Spent an evening at Gagini with my girlfriend. We took the 6-course option at 85 euros each. There was a small insect on the surface of the first service, I finally returned the dish, the owner subsequently came to speak to us more than 4 times explaining that it was ground pepper when I had very well seen that it was an insect. Finally the dishes were a succession of disappointments, no very particular dish, no surprising arrangement, lack of creativity in the visual and sometimes even unpleasant in the mouth as was the squid on grilled romaine with raspberry. Finally, in terms of cuisine, Gagini offers unsurprisingly expensive cuisine like in a 1 michelin star restaurant but really far from it, and therefore disappointing. I have to say, however, that the service from the waiters was good and the wine delicious. However, I do not recommend Gagini.
Tried the 4 course menu with wine pairing, everything was just excellent. Highlight of our trip to Palermo. Would definitely re visit. Wine glasses and all tableware are gorgeous!
Wonderful staff and service. They accommodated our large group on shirt notice. They were also able to adjust the chefs 12 course tasting menu for a vegan friend in our group. They also made great wine recommendations throughout the evening. The 12 courses lasted about 4.5 hours. It was a memorable and delicious way to spend our last night in Palermo!
The food and presentation was very nicely done. Unfortunately we did not enjoy the accompanied organic wines as much as the food.
I loved our dinner here. Great service provided by a team who has a passion for fine food paired with excellent local wine. Not every dish was perfect, but it is exciting that the chef is pushing to exceed standard expectations and experiment with the best local provisions. We had so much fun trying everything on the tasting menu with paired wines. Truly a fun and memorable evening!
Beautiful restaurant. Excellent service. Small portions but they give you a lot of freebies so you’re full by the end of the meal. Food is exciting. The calamari “pasta” was one of the best dishes I’ve ever had in my entire life. They cut the calamari so thin and completely transform it that you don’t even realize that you’re eating calamari. It was unbelievable. Order it. Just do it. Our best meal in palermo by far.
Went to Gagini for dinner this week while visiting Palermo and it is absolutely fantastic! Our Airbnb host recommended it and it did not let us down. We ordered the chicken, lamb, and squid. For pasta, we ordered the pasta with fried oysters and it was quite delicious as well. Normally we don’t really order chicken at restaurants but this was our favourite dish.Ambiance is very nice too and restaurant has fine selection of wine
Pricy but worthy experience. 4 meal course is super big. If you want to experience different taste combinations, it is a place to visit.
Exceptional Sicilian cuisine. The staff was accommodating and let us in at 02:50pm with 10min to go before they closed for lunch. Our hurry was rewarded by flavorful and nicely presented dishes including red mullet and rockfish and Jerusalem artichokes cooked under warm ash and served w local ricotta cheese that was fluffy and light and fresh. 10/10. Will def return for dinner.
Very nice place for a dinner. We were welcome with a drink, appetizers and good bread. The dishes and menus are a bit expensive compared to what is served. But it is still the best food I had in Palermo so far.Staff is friendly and helpful.I would put a 5th star if it was 20% less expensive, which would be more inline with what is served. Other than that, recommended.
THE best without any doubt! Don’t miss the exceptional news decoration: fabulous, really!
This is without any doubt the best place in Palermo. We chose the Vucciria-menu. Never have I ever had this taste of perfection. Quality and food are insane. The pictures are in a dimmed light, so they wont do justice to the food. It doesnt make a difference outside or inside. Just enjoy this breathtaking food! Thank you to all the staff for taking care of us. Very friendly and proffessional. I recomend this place highly. Kind regards to the owners of this place. Grazie a tutti!
I dont know where to start with this fabulous restaurant: the incredible hospitality, the tasteful, warm decor, the wayyyyy-above average service? This is a truly special place, and this is coming from someone with over 20yrs experience in the hospitality business, including a number of yrs in NYC. Ive seen/tasted it all, and you need to put this spot on your list.
Excellent food, well presented. Good service. Expect to pay €10 for starters, €15-20 for a main course. Good wines from about €22, but most of their very extensive international wine list is a lot more and no doubt very good.
Delicious and great gf options. Small portions I’d warn you! Really nice vibe. Pricey but worth it
I do not have adequate words to describe this wonderful restaurant in Palermo. Friends from Palermo walked us by the restaurant and suggested we try it. So happy we did. Set in a building from 1500, we were struck by the wonderful energy/vibe of this quiet, colorful restaurant that provided excellent food that was presented as artwork. Delicious, provided at a good relaxed pace, and with the warmth of this old building just off the bay. Every bite was followed by flavor that is hard to describe, but easy to savor and enjoy.. Service was outstanding and provided by a variety of competent and friendly individuals who clearly take pride in what they do. HIGHLY RECOMMEND having a meal at this restaurant when you are in Palermo. I cannot recommend Gagini enough. 5 stars are not enough For this gem.
Everything was delicious
Excellent service, nice environment, good flavors, few dish rounds for such price though. They could fit in one or two more rounds per menu so quantity to meet quality and price. And not get hungry 2 hours later...
Amazing. My husband and I came here our first night in Palermo. We sat at the social table and enjoyed interesting conversation about both of our travels. We did the 12 course chefs inspiration menu. Every dish was a delicious combination of flavors. It took about 3 hours in total. The amuse bouche, pastas and rabbit were our favorites. The service was also fantastic. Would definitely recommend. A great night out.
Fish was good, but pasta no... it is strange for Sicilian restaurant... normally pasta is good in all places. Portion was very modest. I could advise them use more natural products made in restaurant, without using can souses etc. It surely would be appreciated by modern healthy style persons
Unique experience. Unforgettable. Well be back
Nice restaurant with some pretensions - nothing bad at all but not at the level aimed for and priced for. seems the kitchen sometimes complicates the dishes which brings them down where some simplicity would have done them better. nice service and wine.
Went on a quiet Monday eve off-season. Seven course taster menu was very very good, though I could barely move by the end of it! Great service and not overly expensive. Best meal of the trip.
Excellent restaurant, best food weve had in Sicily in the last month.Very nice staff. Pasta stuffed with sardines and raisins to begin, the roasted pidgeon , plus some amazing deserts . We didnt enjoy the first bottle of wine so they changed it for something much better at no additional cost. Highly recommended
Nice place. Good wine🍷. Tasty food 🍽️
Yes the food was very good. But 10 small pasta for more than 20€ seems a bit exaggerated. My cat would have still been hungry after this lunch.
NO WAY!!!! everything was really good!Cosy place, very fashion. Ladies and gentlemen are more than perfect in everything. We had two starters and one main dish. All was awesome. Tather Than a dinner, I would name it as a taste experience. At the present, the best restaurant Ive found in Sicily so far (first time here, 2012!!) . Congrats to the staff all!!!!
One of the best culinary experiences we’ve had in Italy. Everything we ordered was truly delicious.... Try the spaghettini, black and white risotto, and rockfish.
Very good Italian food. Hostess is charming, efficient and... beautiful !!!
Excellent place!Very nice staff and uniqe and really tasty food!
Very nice setting and very tasty and refined contemporary Italian cuisine. Awesome wine list.
The food was lovely, the wine better. Felt like a nice treat in a lovely setting. The only downside was that the service was a little rushed.
Delicious food. Well prepared. Nice setting. Excellent wine list. Competent service.
A wonderful meal. Perfectly executed and very creative dishes, great wine list, friendly service. Outside seating available. Recommended!
I think you will enjoy your visit here
Distinctly average for the money. Some inspired dishes, but most over/under flavoured. Decent wine
Nice food and service.
Best chef in the world. Great service!! Counting the days to be there again. Amazing quality of ingredients
Absolutely exemplary service and food! This little restaurant creates its own little world within Palermo and we simply didnt want to leave! If youre in Palermo, you have to eat here at least once. Bellissimo!
Great food. Prices accordingly. Great winelist (French/Italian mainly) with a passion for natural/biodynamic
Very good service. Food was also very good however the fish (bbq) was a little dry. Primi piatti spaghettoni was amazing. Well worth a try. Little more pricy than other restaurants in Palermo but for sure more luxurious.
High quality food, beautiful execution, good wine list, friendly and professional service, good acoustics, beautifully designed. You simply can’t fault it!!
Definitely hands down the best food and wine in Sicily. Service was outstanding and beautiful building built in 800ad yes 800ad, a must if you love great food.
Good service and Lovely food.
Absolutely delicious! Small portions but then you can taste appetizers, primi and secondi dishes.... great service, everyone very attentive and accommodating. Octopus, quail, linguini and shrimp, pork belly, desserts.....I love good restaurants and this one is in my list. Highly recommended. Enjoy!!!
Small portions but good quality and tasty food. Somewhat more pretentious than necessary for the location and interior.
Absolutely fabulous! Must eat in Palermo! Service, ambiance, wine & staff Michelin ! We had the 5 course tasting menu with some sparkling wine then a bottle of the finest Sicilian White wine from the mount Etna from the volcanic soil. We were treated like royalty & the food was out of this world ! grazie mille chiefs, staff who looked after us and the fantastic sommelier! We will never forget & highly recommended!
Excellent food wine and service. This would cost £200 per head in London
Amazing, inventive cuisine and great wine selection. Worthy of a Michelin star
Overrated, poor service and lack of great food experience all regarding the price of a Chef (!) menu.
Dear fellow google users,If you were just like me, who was looking for a nice, romantic or cozy evening out in Palermo, and Gagini social Restaurant seems too attractive to miss based on the previous reviews, I would politely ask you do not go, if you are not looking for the worst and most terrible dining experience in your life.As a forewarning, Gagini social restaurant had previous history of deleting other’s reviews through reporting them as “customers hasn’t been here” or “it was a mistaken review”. I would like to make my complaint transparent, as I visited gagni restaurant on 12th of July 2018.I am a frequent Michelin restaurant goer, and have eaten at various three stars or other lesser known Michelin establishments all around the world, including New York, Paris, London, Copenhagen, Hong Kong, Kyoto, Budapest, Berlin, Rome, and other destinations. I bumped into this little hidden gem that was off the beaten path in the centre of Palermo, and after looking at the online reviews, I have decided to give it a shot.Dear fellow google users, imagine you were going in for a nice cozy evening, and as soon as you are seated, you were greeting by two or three cold faces that frowns upon your arrival. This is the service we were given at first go. The staff make their unpleasantness so apparent, you could feel their direct hatred at you for no apparent reason.Lets go back to our evening that night. When my boyfriend and I started ordering , a frowned waitress came, she took our order in a cold, unpleasant, agitated tone, and hurried us with the order. Moreover, she even personally instructed us in a degrading tone, what we should have, despite being made very clear that we have our own preferences. Then, despite us telling her what we would like, she made sarcastic comments at us about our food choices and the amount of dishes we ordered in a very mean and humiliating way. However, this is only the beginning. As we repeated what we would like, the waitress ignored three dishes out of the six we have ordered per person, and before we could even have a word with her, she disappeared, despite how well-staffed this place was, and we were the only table she was serving the entire night. As the frowning waitress returned with our first dish, we tried to have a word with her as to the three dishes that she left out in our orders, and she simply paid no attention to our demands, completely ignored our requests, and talked to us in a demeaning, impatient tone while rolling her eyes and disappeared as soon as she came, with no introduction of the food. Then, as the second dish came, our sparkling water was finished so we requested for one more sparkling water, and two staff at the back was making discreet comment about our table in Italian while rolling their eyes at us, at the back of the room. We could see them very well at the table we were sitting. Then a couple more employees gathered around them and they all stared at us and started to laugh, this time a lot more indiscreetly and again, in a demeaning and humiliating way. I have never been stared at and laughed about publicly, and I am guessing neither did you, my dear fellow trip advisor. It was the most uncomfortable feeling I have ever had, and I even wanted to cry because we were treated so terribly for the entire night, whereas I walked in to this restaurant hoping I would have a romantic dinner with my boyfriend to celebrate. It was the most horrible experience I have ever had, and I do not wish you to go through the same.
Very good food but pricey for me 60€ for 1 person wine+appetizer+main course+ desert they also give pre-appetizer and pre-desert.Oh! And warm bread, they serve warm bread instead of cheap cold bread in other places.
The best restaurant Ive tried in my sicilian travel. Wondeful
Great little gem with fantastic food and attentive staff. Try the wine pairing and youll be blown away.
Elegant and high class restaurant with rustic atmosphere and beautiful details.
Really thoughtful restaurant with delicious food and seller wine list. Its pricey but worth it.
Much overrated.. food is too complicated to taste any good. Stick to basics
Very good Italian food and beautiful setting !
Food was good. Service terrible - not once was our wine topped up and the male waiter never cracked a smile, and overall very slow.
Best place in Palermo, great people, great prices, wish i could go back.
Absolutely amazing service, food and wine/champagne...
The service is excellent, the food is ok.
This is a really nice restaurant, although if compared to the average prices in Palermo it is pretty expensive (2 courses for two people + 2 glasses of wine + 1 dessert came out at 93€). The chatty and pleasant owner offers a glass of bubbly to open the dinner, and recommends really good sicilian wines.
Good was overly salty but otherwise a good experience
Great welcome great foodExcellent
Wow amazing food
Sublime food (best we had in Palermo) but slow and inattentive service
Amazing food, bread and wines
Food is good but really overpriced
One of the best in Palermo.
High quality!
Nice restaurant
In a world driven by fast food and deep fried street food, try refined slow food. Gagini is one of the pioneers of the slow food movement in Palermo! Its a beautiful restaurant (placed in an old building which used to be a sculptors studio) with creative, modern meditteranean dishes. Although slightly pricier than most restaurans in Palermo, it wont disapoint! Every dish is beautifully plated and comes with an explosion of flavours in every bite. I dont normally order chicken, but their chicken with figs was absolutely amazing! Good wine pairing recommendations. Staff is very friendly and heplful.
Super good restaurantI highly recommend this restaurant, the restaurant is super classy and the dishes are incredibly good and super well presented ^^,The servers are super friendly, even all the staff are very cool. The dishes are very tasty 👅 and have discovered very unusual flavor mixtures, but super good.
We go with the conviction that we are faced with a starry experience in this starred restaurant that bears the name of an important family of artists who have done so much for Sicily. We enter this restaurant which, according to historians, must have been Gaginis shop.First of all, no commemorative sign remembered that that place had been an art workshop where Antonello Gagini himself worked. In addition, the restaurant was furnished without any reference to the well-known sculptor ... as if to want to remember only the name. And shortly after we realize that the managers probably had little respect for the great artistic name of Gagini considering the long wait between the order and the arrival of the courses. We order an appetizer two first and two second. After about an hour the first courses arrive and we realize that even if the presentation was very particular and inviting, we found ourselves in front of dishes that were totally dull, tasteless, streusi, senseless and cooked without art and craft.A total exaltation of NOT flavor. The first the raw mail. The second of meat coming from a man named Giuseppe Grasso totally greasy and inedible. Not to add that in order they forget to serve a second course of fish. The wine poured into the glass was less than a quarter and we had to ask for a reinforcement. We decided to leave the restaurant which presents us with a bill that is anything but light! An experience to forget and keep an eye on the Michelin restaurant which means nothing, on the contrary it is often a guarantee of inadequacy.
Lugar agradable. Cocina de platos exclusivos muy buenos. Precio medio alto. Muy buen servicio.
A haute cuisine place where they reinvent Sicilian cuisine with top quality products. For those looking for huge servings, this is not the place for you. For those who want to experience a diverse cuisine, molecular and full of flavors, you will enjoy a lot but the portions are small (tiny). All three types of breads are delicious. The wine list is brutal. Many references to great French classics and very good Sicilian options. The service is committed to the slow movement, it is not a place to come in a hurry. Average price: € 60 person
Complimenti!
The change of hands in the kitchen is evident, but this has not taken anything away from the pleasure of sitting at Gaginis tables. The new chef, with great Italian and European experience, has brought a sense of novelty. Dishes with simple local ingredients but used in a new and fresh way. Mauricio Zillo hits the mark with this Palermo experience that we hope will last for a long time! Do not miss ricotta and sea urchin gnocchi, linguine with scorpion fish and saffron ragout, lamb with eggplant and pomegranate puree and caramelized first salt brioche, anchovy and siccagno tomato ice cream!
