The Kottamaidanam, Palakkad is located in the heart of the Palakkad, Kerala, South India. The Palakkad fort and Fort Maithan are inter related. The fort was built by Hyder Ali. The fort is properly maintained by the authorities. There is a large ground in between the fort and the municipal town hall. This ground is popularly known as the Palakkad Kottamaithan. The maithan is partially used cricket playing. The other part is is used for the public meetings. There is one more portion in the Maithan in the eastern part. This portion of the maithan is under renovation now. The Kottamaithan and kotta(forte) are inter related. There is an Anjaneya temple inside the forte. This Anjaneya temple is very powerful and also very very popular amoung general public.

Its good place for playing sports and doing exercises!!!Sometimes official cricket tournament are hosted here!!!A lot of buses are in the route so no one have worry about it!!Some sports like football cant be played in the centre of the ground its because the pitch is maintained for cricket tournaments,so if we have to play football then then we have to use the boundary of the actual pitch were people usually do running and jogging!!!Overall its a nice place!!!
