Ayyanar Temple Urani Pongal Festival.Ulundurpettai: The Urani Pongal and Swami horse riding procession was held at the Purani Porkalai Ayyanar Temple located at Paduar village next to Ulundurpettai.The ceremony started on the 10th with the tying of the knot. Following this, Ayyanar was brought to Swami Kalari on the night of the 20th and Deeparathana and on the night of the 21st, following the special puja, Swami Vidyalaya was held daily at night for the last 12 days.On the eve of the 13th day at 8:00 am a special anointing, Deeparadhana, the devotees performed pooja with Urani Pongal.The procession was held at Ayyanar Swami Mandapam at 3:30 pm with special pujas.Devotees worshiped Swami in the evening at home.Following this at 5.30 pm the horse riding right and bari run took place near Ayyanar Mandapam on the lake.Devotees who had gathered at the time threw away grains and coins, including peanut rye, to pay off their debts.Record published in Dinamalar daily, Date of registration: Sep 04,2018 01:14
