It is the first project in India which is develop by the state government of Maharashtra (MSEB) with ABB and BHEL. Till the date in India this is the only power transmission line project which is build by the state government. The Chandrapur–Padghe HVDC transmission system is an HVDC connectionbetween Chandrapur and Padghe (near Mumbai) in the state of Maharashtra in India, which wasput into service in 1999.It connects the coal-fired Chandrapur Super Thermal Power Station tothe major load Centre of Mumbai. The project has a 752 kilometers (467 mi) long bipolaroverhead line. The transmission voltage is ±500kV and the maximum transmission power is1,500 megawatts. The scheme uses thyristor valves, arranged in a single twelve pulse bridge perpole. The project was built by ABB and BHEL, and is owned by Maharashtra State ElectricityBoard (MSEB).
