Best Indian restaurant I have been in Europe. I really like the thin bread/appetizer with the sauces. Spicy and tasty.I recommend the chefs special, chicken chettihad for main dish, and the carrot cake Indian style for dessert. Chicken tikka is also really nice. Staff is friendly. Worth every krone, will be back.

This is the most wonderful restaurant and take-away - everything is delicious and service is always brilliant. Every new dish I try becomes another favourite, and all the classics are executed perfectly. During these extremely difficult Covid times, they have made a huge effort to stay open for take-away and keep serving up fantastic food. They have really been a lifeline. Hugely recommended.

Really good Indian food. Authentic experience. Every bit of the food was cooked to perfection - the nan was crispy and soft at the same time. The tandoori chicken was tender, appropriately spicy and with a tasty gravy on the side. Golden rice - everything just the way you want it to be. Waiters were easy to reach, but not too pushy. Service was very good. I requested my dish without nuts, and this was no problem. If you crave indian food, you wont regret coming here!

The best part of the restraunt is service. While having dinner owner and/or manager would come and check on us, if everything was okay. This gave authentic feeling of Indian guest experience and not of just hotel only. Decoration is artistic and colourfull. Food is good and uses masalas in proper manner. I would definitely recommend this restaurant for stay in Oslo.

Came here with just 30 minute short notice with my partner for a relaxing meal after a hard day of work. We were offered some choices for seating and the hosts were very thoughtful with assistance and kindly brought me some pillows for some back support when I expressed desire to sit with a firmer backrest. As someone who struggles with back pain, it means so much when someone gives the extra help - I didnt expect it. Such a silly thing but it made me feel taken care of and it made my evening. Thank you for that specifically! The food variety was amazing and it wasnt difficult to choose, the portions were just right and the naan bread was delightful! Truly the best naan Ive had in Oslo thus far. The food was well rounded in flavor and heat, given we took spice level 3. My partner really enjoyed the mango lassi. Weve had plenty in our days and this one was, in his words, extraordinarily good.We didnt have to wait a minute for service and the help was super smooth. Thank you for making us feel welcome. The hospitality was honest and just right. Well be returning and this is definitely a place to come for flavors.

Such a cosy family place with great food and great service. You are well taken care of by the friendly and professional staff. The decor is fascinating with lots of artefacts from India. You get quite big portions of food. The plates are always warm. Meat is tender and sauces are so tasty. We just love this place both my wife and my kids. Keep it up!

Really excellent Indian restaurant. We are a British couple who can be a bit snobby when it comes to curry, and this is one of the best we’ve ever had. We had our NYE dinner here and loved it so much that we came back a couple of days later. Great service, great for veggies, amazing Naan, amazing rice. Highly recommend!

Good ambience inspite of it being in the basement, friendly staff with authentic Indian food. A range of dishes to choose from and the dishes are delicious and reasonably priced. You can choose the degree of spiceness /hotness of the dishes. The restaurant can be crowded and therefore wise to call in advance and reserve a table. Dont expect to sit and enjoy for long time as the staff will rush through and serve as many customers / patrons as possible.

Lately me and my girlfriends been crazy for indian food. So we decided to celebrate her birthday here back in august.Weve tried alot of indian restaurants all over Oslo, but this was the first time we got our eyes on Jewel of India.Arrived at 7PM, went down the stairs and entered this dark but very cozy restaurant. Got greeted by this beautiful lady in her saree and got escorted to our table.Ordered drinks and food straight away. So far everything was perfect. Loved the interior, the atmopshere and the service! Oh, did I forget to mention the food?!Since it being my girlfriends birthday, a group of servers came to surprise with dessert, candles and a birthday song! As I was sitting there trying to keep my laugther, I peaked at my girlfriend who didnt really get what was going on. Me personally, loved the show, while my girlfriend was still in shock because of all the action with 4 guys singing to her, plus me. Hehe.A must visit if you want to have a proper indian restaurant experience. Very professional staff and delicious food. Make sure you book a table though, this place is busy! Will come back again for sure.

With a friend of mine, Im on a years-long mission to try all Indian restaurants in Oslo, but whenever we go out to try a new one, its so easy to just end up at some of our favorites which we know deliver the goods. This place in Oscars gate has always been rated highly in other reviews, but we have somehow never gotten around to try it. Now, though, its going to be among that small handful of places we will probably revisit often rather than risk disappointment in a new restaurant. Really, really nice, well-balanced tastes, perfect seasoning, great service. Top notch!

Crowded and offering mostly run of the mill Indian food. The restaurant responded with surprise to my above comments. So, I need to clarify.Crowded ... I meant that the entire restaurant is packed with seats. I was seated closer to the wall and getting there involved a maneuver that was not too different from a passenger allocated the window seat on the economy class of a plane reaching his seat. By the way, the diner seated on the aisle was a complete stranger in the middle of his meal and brushing against him to reach the interiors was unpleasant (for him as well as me) to say the least.Run of the mill ... I did not mean the restaurant was offering stale food. I meant that the items on the menu are standard fares. Nothing innovative. Nothing exceptional in taste, texture, flavor, presentation.Going by the number of people who were present, it seems this restaurant can do well replacing some of the five chefs with some really good ones or someone else open a really good Indian restaurant in Oslo. I will surely come and watch then.

One of the best Indian restaurant in Oslo. Very central location and easy to go by public transport. Always consistent taste and service and very nice and traditional ambience inside. For parties better call in advance to book your table. Tandoori chicken is always great and favorite of mine. You can also enjoy strong Indian beer here.

One of the best Indian meals Ive had in Oslo. Somewhat crowded so my wife and I was seated on the end of a 6 person table with a a separator wall, this worked out surprisingly well. Acoustics was also good considering how crowded it was at the time. Food was just excellent! Friendly staff however some was clearly under a lot of stress. Recommended!

We were on our way back from Vigelands park and decided to hop off the tram as the area looked nice. We were going to have a drink and head back into town but decided to go to this restaurant. We are so glad we did! The food was some of the best Indian I have ever had and certainly one of the best meals we had in Norway. The service was very friendly and the selection of food and drinks was fantastic. Get out of town on the tram and have dinner here when you are in Oslo!

If you are not used to Norwegian prices, you will be surprised to see a relatively expensive Indian food restaurant. That said, the quality of the food is outstanding, with no detail spared. The spices in the cooking taste very authentic (though admittedly I am not a practicing cook). The selection is mainly northern Indian, though it is very broad. The house specialties are worth trying if you cant make up your mind, but you really cant go wrong with most of the dishes.

It’s more of a Blemish than a Jewel. We went here on our last day in OSLO, the food taste was mediocre and the worst INDIAN food in our 2 weeks trip of Denmark and Norway. The Masala Lamb didn’t tasted fresh at all, however the Dal Makhni was ok. Both the dishes had tinge of sweetness which was slightly odd. The quantity of food though was decent. The worst was the attitude of the head waiter and the manager standing on our head and asking if we are done eating 2-3 times. They charged us NOK 30 for a Single piece of Onion which had no mention on the menu neither was communicated by the male waiter who took our order. For the price and more for the attitude this Blemish restaurant is avoidable and there are much better INDIAN Restaurant in Near vicinity.
