We visited Omkareshwar temple and while on boating in the Narmada river, saw this huge dam close to the temple. Out of curiosity, I started reading on the project and found out that this dam is basically an irrigation focussed and hydroelectric power generating dam. I also explored there were many controversies around this project. It is amazing that Omkareshwar temple is situated not more than 1 km in the down stream of the river and further down in the downstream is the sangam if kaveri and narmada river
Awesome view. One of the biggest dam in central India
The dam built on Narmada river near Omkareshwar. After time or say downstream side of dam river creates a delta point. Creates a small Island. On this delta point Omkareshwar temple is situated.
There are two main temples of Lord Shiva here, one to Omkareshwar (whose name means Lord of Omkara or the Lord of the Omsound) located in the island and one to Mamleshwar (whose name means Immortal Lord or lord of the Immortals or Devas) located on the south bank of Narmada River on the mainland.
As name suggests Omkareshwar dam is constructed near Omkareshwar Temple. It is hydro power project generating electricity. It also provides irrigation water to the area nearby. Its a blessing to the people ઓસ Madhya pradesh. Water released from Omkareshwar dam is goes to Sardar Sarovar narmada dam of Gujarat. If you like my review please like it...
Architecture is wonderful and beauty of the dam is osmm
Very nice dam but because of this dam a major tourist place which was the highest waterfall on Narmada river Dharaji in Dewas District gets submerged into the water. Already there are various Dams on Narmada river and I think all the dams are disturbing nature as this dam submerges a big waterfall, Indira Sagar submerges various temples near Punasa and a waterfall of Dewas District and etc.
Nice to be here.
#Ultimate view...😍😍😍#Huge dam...🔥🔥🔥Thank you !
Great location
Beautiful location
The Omkareshwar Dam is a gravity dam on the Narmada River just upstream of Mandhata in Khandwa district, Madhya Pradesh, India. It is named after the Omkareshwar temple located just downstream. The dam was constructed between 2003 and 2007 with the purpose of providing water for irrigation of 132,500 ha (327,000 acres). An associated hydroelectric power station located at the base of the dam has an installed capacity of 520 MW.[1][2]

Beautiful dam but you are not allowed to go over the dam , you can only watch gates of dam
Amazing 😍👌
This company has made big damage to Narmada and to Omkareshwar , all for the money , they daily disturb the peacefulness of Omkareshwar constantly ringing their powerful alarm sirens , even though there is no emergency , very bad people .

The idea of Omkareshwar Dam project first came in 1965. Its purpose is to provide electricity and irrigation in Central India. This is one of the 30 dams built in Narmada Ghat. The area of this dam is in the coastal area of Narmada and Kaveri (the tributary of Narmada).Electricity is distributed from this dam in Madhya Pradesh. This hydroelectric project is estimated to have an annual production of 1.167 billion units in the first phase, 59.60 million units in the second phase and 54 crore units of electricity in the third phase. About 529 villages have benefitted from irrigation due to this dam. In fact, the yield of 725000 tonnes of foodgrains and 835,000 tonnes of other crops has increased. It is a 9 4 9 meter long and 33 meter high concrete dam, which has 520 MW power generation capacity. It has 23 radial gates of 20 * 17 meters. This is the fastest hydropower project in the country from 2004 to 2006. Bandh started functioning since 2007. A reservoir of several square kilometers has been constructed by this dam, in which beautiful island has become. On which various tourism projects are being developed

ेश Kareshwar dam is a good tool for electricity. Omkareshwar Hydroelectric Project produces 520MW of power.
Very giant and amazing view
Jai ho
The purpose of coming to Omkareshwar without enjoying sailing is not complete. The efficiency of the sailors here will have to be ironed. Even when the water level of the river decreases in the summer season, the efficiency of the navigator here is that the navigator and the temple revolve around him.
Dam of medium height over the river Narmada, which is very important in connection with the power supply of Madhya Pradesh.Moving beyond the dam, there is an island in the middle of the river which is popularly known as Mandhata. On this island lies Sri Omkareshwar Mahadev.
Onkareshvar dam, 520Mw,
