Stew, chowder, calamari, two drinks - all tasted like paint thinner. Took an hour and a half to get here via Uber Eats. I grew up in the islands of the Adriatic, so I may be a harsh critic. But we had to literally throw out every item, as we hate eating paint thinner. Most vile, disgusting swill Ive ever eaten from a seafood restaurant. $100 wasted down the garbage disposal. Every single element was inedible. Drinks undrinkable. Now we have find dinner for the family.

Had a really awesome experience here. We had ordered DoorDash from this place a few times in covid and were excited to check it out in person finally while we had visitors in town. Did not disappoint at all. Staff was awesome and very friendly. They brought us complementary glasses of wine and brought our dog a bowl of water AND a decent sized piece of salmon. He had a blast sitting outdoors with us by the heater. All of the food was wonderful. Loved the salmon and the tapenade with it. Clam chowder was super tasty.

My boyfriend and I came here for our Friday night date night and we had such an amazing time! It was a busy night, but the staff still went out of their way to make sure we felt welcomed. I have heard so much about this place and so I wanted to give it a try being that most of the reviews I read were five star! After my visit in the evening that I had, I ended up giving the restaurant a four stars.The Ambiance is excellent and its very upbeat and modern, service was good but not excellent.We had to ask for bread and they brought us this small single roll with four slices. Very stingy on the bread.The appetizers that were ordered was the calamari and they were a little skimpy on the calamari versus other restaurants that I had visited. The calamari also seemed a little bland even though it wasnt deep fried, but it appeared it was stir-fried with some spices, but it still seems like it lacked something.For my dinner I ordered the lamb rack and it was very tasty and cooked as expected. The ribs had a good portion of meat and it was seasoned quite well.My date ordered the seafood stew and she particularly didnt care for it and said that she would not order it again. I tried the stew and it appealed to me however I am glad that I did not make this as my main entree.Dessert was five stars! We ordered the chocolate mousse with two scoops of vanilla ice cream and that was divine. It made up for all of the previous sins and I would go there just for the desert! All in all like I said I gave it a four stars out of five and would I dine here again? Of course I would!

Good flavors and great service! We ordered the Salmon in the Pre-fix menu, and the spaghetti and balls. Also got the mussels and the oysters.The mussel sauce was one of the best I have tasted. Wiped out two loaves if bread with it! Salmon was done really well, soft and moist. Grand Mariner Creme Brûlée was just excellent!Overall great place to eat. Small place so make sure that you reserve.

Zero interaction after you pay at the table. The food was not good in my opinion. I spent just under $100 and it was worse than a $20 meal anywhere else. The muscles we got tasted like they went bad, the mashed potatoes was quite literally just a mashed boiled potato, the seafood stew was bitter and the seafood didnt have any other flavor. Over all the experience was not great and the food was worse.

We had a lovely dinner on the sidewalk last night at Marica. The seafood (prawns, calamari, seafood stew) was fresh and flavorful. The staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and appreciated.

Some dishes are done perfectly while others are overcooked.We loved the Scallops, Calamari and Chocolate Souffle. The mashed potatoes and carrots puree with Parsnips were a creamy delight.Their Risotto was excellent, but the rice was a bit too mushy for me.Sadly the Lobster was tasty but too rubbery and the green beans were a bit mushy with no seasoning.Stay away from the Oysters, they were sad, dried out and not quite cold when served.

Amazing service, best seafood in town, and delicious alcoholic beverages! The Cosmo was a real winner! The seared scallops were. My favorite and oysters are 1.50 each! So fresh! Pay in cash and you save around 10 percent! Complimentary bread is served and I recommend making reservations because it gets busy!

I don’t use this phrase lightly, but I have been to Trieste, Italy which arguably has the best seafood and food overall and this is a place outside of Trieste that I would be willing to spend my money on. Their food is world class tasty, seafood is flavorful, their condiments are not overwhelming and really let the seafood flavors to pop. We ordered the fisherman stew and salmon platter. Both amazing! This is a great place for such a small location. They’re accommodating and welcoming. Attire can be semi-formal, to business casual. Amazing.

We have been coming here for years. But now in this time of confinement, they have put together a very good and very safe take-out service, so we come here almost every week. The menu is limited, but all dishes are good. They pack it up and there is almost no contact. They also have wine and cocktails, Friendly family, they are our family now.

Yum! Marica is top of our list. They took a change in direction to make the vibe more casual and focus on pizza (which Im sure was delicious), but I am happy to say they have the old menu of seafood and meat dishes. This time we had mussels (delicious butter sauce and bread for sopping) and calamari (rare quality that can be lightly pan fried rather than deep fried - excellent texture and flavor). Old favorites include lamb and scallops. We didnt get the chocolate souffle this time, but it is truly incredible (insider tip: you have to order this when you order your main dish). Palomas were great as well - fresh squeezed grapefruit, of course.Updated to add that we went back and had the tartar. Wonderful! Amazing service as always.

First time in about 5-6 years Ive been back. New ownership but same amazing seafood dishes! Oysters were super fresh and mussels too which came with a great broth. But the star was the seafood stew! Its a must try and youll fall in love. Velvety and smooth. Very impressed that all the dishes lived up to the standards of the previous owners. Also got an awesome creme brulee dish on the house, one of the best CBs Ive had. It wont take me 6 years to come back. See you soon!

I came all the way from the tri-valley to revisit Marica. Friendly staff, food was just ok. The restaurant ambiance post covid was not there. I was there as part of a party of 4. Its better as a takeout place than a dine in. I had the spaghetti and meatballs and a green salad. dirty silverware had to be replaced. Seating arrangements were odd. You order at the bar which was unusual compared to the old Marica. My entree was just ok and the salad was decent. I miss the old Marica located further north on College Ave. That spot had it going on with food And drinks. I wont be back.

The food was amazing but thats only half the experience! Nida and her son are top notch in customer service and hospitality. It was a busy Saturday night with lots of take out orders but the two of them were catering to every person waiting. Such a refreshing experience.

It was really tasty and easy to heat at home. They were so gracious when I asked for an earlier pickup time (and on Valentines Day, I later realized) and we enjoyed the complimentary panna cotta they packed. Really lovely and I look forward to trying the lobster roll!

Endive and Radicchio salad is excellent! The blue cheese is soft and creamy 👍 Inside is a cute cafe vibe in Oakland and a cute street lined with shops and restaurants. Amaze balls pizza - so good! I just wish the pizza crust was softer and fuller, and there was a bit too much mozzarella cheese for my liking. Wonderful service 👍

Delicious, the clam chowder was my favorite

So I really like this place - very reasonable prices for usually excellent seafood dishes. However, I was very disappointed with the lobster roll on the current menu. I expected a nice, soft bun like in New England. What I got were two stiff pieces of bread that were as dry as you would expect from being very overtoasted—the bread just crumbled like drywall when you bit into it. I ended up eating just the lobster. But the lobster was also problematic—it was overcooked, tough and yielded very little moisture. I also question the capers in the dressing; with some bites, the lobster was just too salty. My husband ordered the meatballs and spaghetti, which was a bit better but he noted that the meatball mixture didn’t seem to have been mixed very well since some of his meatballs tasted great and others were undersalted. The fried calamari, though, was very good and came with a tasty salad. I hope this is a blip from the take-out only situation.

We were greeted by the owner who guided is through the new covid friendly process. Ended up ordering the Seafood stew and lobster roll... Both were fantastic! One of the best seafood restaurants Ive ever had, let me tell you coming from Seattle Ive eaten a lot of seafood resturants/dishes!Do not get turned off by the limited size menu, because each dish they have is amazing. We are for sure going to be ordering takeout from here during the new lockdowns as well as return to dine in when that opens up again.If you love seafood, this is worth a try!

Marica is a remarkably great Oakland fish restaurant owned and run with a very proficient and pleasant Oakland family. I have been many times and have not had a bad experience there. They can accommodate groups of all sizes and also have an excellent pub with wines, beer along with a excellent choice of cocktails and spirits.

We had a reservation for 9pm but showed up an hour or more early. Calvin was the host at the door and kindly made space for us at the bar until a table was ready within 15min. Mon was amazing! He gave reviews on wines as we waited, then as we were seated he immediately attended to us. John was also very attentive and had a great smile. Our appetizers were delicious and all of the food to follow as well! Nothing came too quick so that we were able to eat in order. Over all the entire team was awesome. Definitely go! Yes the prices are a little higher than an average restaurant but its not an average restaurant so was worth it.

Time in history: 2020 COVID PandemicWith the air quality much better we decided to eat out(side) on Friday night. Were big sea(foodie) lovers so we were super excited to try this spot out. Because of COVID, outdoor seating is only available and they have about four 2-person tables. You could squeeze three at a table if you really wanted and the tables are pretty spaced out on the sidewalk.I think its a smaller menu theyre offering but it has all the hittas. You order inside and theyll bring your food out to you. My husband decided the two of us + our dog needed (1) Lobster Roll combo, (2) mussels and the (3) seafood stew. They were all delicious but my favorite was the lobster roll. The combo also comes with a chowder. We were stuffed. The food is good but the service was also amazing. Super friendly and super mindful of social distancing and just good people service. I mentioned we brought our dog with us and they ended up offering him a piece of salmon (spoiler alert - our dog loved it).If you can support local business like this by ordering pick up or if you want some fresh air while being responsible, check out this spot for a great dinner. You wont regret it.

Great food but the service was horrible. Took 15 min for anyone to even take our order, and almost an hour to actually get the main course. Owner? Seemed to notice the many mistakes that were made throughout the whole meal (among other things, they forgot to bring out a birthday cake which we ended up just taking back home) and apologized, so that was appreciated. No one else really seemed to bother so not sure if thats just the norm.

Had a wonderful experience thanks to the super friendly staff who made us feel so welcome and at home. The scallops and risotto are some of the best I’ve ever had. I’ll definitely be back!

We went here for my graduation dinner- party of 15!We had so much fun! Our waitress, Christie, was SOOO nice! She made our night extra special. She was so funny and was really accommodating, even when I had to alter my dish to make it vegetarian.Everyone loved the food. The portions are nice and the quality is good too- some favorites of the table were lobster Mac & cheese and salmon.

The service was good but to be honest, the food was underwhelming. If youre going to charge for bread, it shouldnt be dry and stale. The scallops were tough and overly salted. The mixed salad that boasted roasted beets had a sad three pieces. The souffle had terrible presentation with chocolate bleeding over the sides of its cup. Really dont get why this place is so highly reviewed. It is just okay it my book. Tough to get reservations but for this price point, you can probably find better in this area.

Some of the best food Ive had in a long time. Took my girlfriend for her birthday and she absolutely loved the lobster. On my part Ive never had a better scallops and risotto. Would recommend for a date night.

After reading so many great reviews we decided to dive in. Wow, am I glad we did! The rack of Lamb was outstanding..arrived at our table perfectly cooked and bursting with flavor. The waitstaff was very friendly and on point. The atmosphere was very inviting and intimate. Pricing is good and we will certainly be back soon.

This is one of my favorite restaurants ever. I am so glad they are back open again! Make sure you get reservations because they can get very busy, even on weekdays. I always get the scallops here, which comes with risotto. Ive tried a bunch of different salads and appetizers and they were all very good. The salads come out in blocks and are very cute... definitely Instagram worthy!

Enjoyed the signature dishes of the seafood stew and chocolate souffle. The seafood stew had a very concentrated taste of the sea while having enough seafood ingredients to make it hearty. The chocolate souffle was creamy and lovely and the waiter even put on 2 scoops of ice cream when we shared the dessert.

This was my second time at this restaurant. My first experience was great. The gentlemen working treated my husband and myself really well. The food was great. My second experience. Horrible. Was rushed to eat and leave. The staff...or manager started counting receipts while they had customers at the bar. They started slamming chairs indicaiting that they wanted to close...and get off of work early. This was at 9:30 pm. The staff was women. They were not welcoming. I am so disappointed as I live down the street. I thought this would be a great neighborhood restaurant to frequent. I also have shared with executives to visit this restaurant based on my first experience. I now have to back track to let people know that my original thought was wrong. Too bad!! If you do go...and its women running the restaurant...walk away. Note I am a woman. I do not say this lightly.

I had my birthday dinner here and couldnt have been happier. Why did I love it? Its small. You dont feel like you are eating in some mega seafood joint. Their oysters are fantastic. Their fried oyster ceasar salad was awesome. I have never had a fried oyster prepared like that. Then there is the soup. This is why you come. Their seafood soup is just divine. Tip: order desert before you order dinner because it takes a while. And when you think youre done ordering, order one thing extra, its that good you wont want to miss a thing!

This restaurant is small and busy. There was a line forming before the doors opened. I made a reservation so we were seated right away.The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. The menu options all looked good and the dishes my party ordered were met with satisfaction. I would definitely try this place again. Street parking was no problem.

After all the hype the it was just... the swordfish was a bit firm. For a $60 meal with a drink or two I expected more. Coworkers love this place... the stew looked ok.. also service was slow (took forever to get our plates or our bill). Again - coworkers love it.

I still enjoyed my dinner, but unfortunately I have zero tolerance for tacky and/or rude restaurant owners, who either rush you through the meal course or they try to charge you for something when they initially said it was a mistake and therefore it was on the house. I wont be coming back here, and when it comes to seafood and steak dishes there are better options out there.

Marica is a fabulous restaurant, with absolutely delicious salmon dishes and delicious desserts. It has a comfortable, neighborhood feel and the staff made us feel right at home. Our night at Marica made for a very enjoyable and special night for my husband and I. Also make sure to try their Manhattans, we each ordered one and were very happy we did!
