Visited recently for the first time in years. The service was excellent as usual, but the food is unfortunately not what it used to be. Poppadoms didnt seem fresh, curry was nice but not amazing, rice portions definitely a lot smaller now too. It used to be one of the best in town for a curry, but unless I just went on an off night Id say its pretty average these days.

This is my favourite Indian restaurant. The staff are all so so lovely + attentive - their service has been outstanding on every visit. They happily alter the dishes according to how you’d like them + are super helpful with any queries, when ordering. The food is INCREDIBLE. The best Indian food I’ve had by far. It really is a whole experience. Highly recommend!!

This place is a real gem. Light and airy inside with a different style to most Indian restaurants. The service was absolutely first rate, speedy and attentive at all times. The food was freshly cooked, hot and tasty. Lovely kebabs and bhajis for started and lamb jalfrezi for main. The lamb was tender and flavours just perfect. Chatted to one of the owners and you could really see the pride taken in the restaurant. Highly recommended.

Last night I had a takeaway Set Meal for 1 from the Mogal. OMG, this must be the best value deal in Nottingham right now. Fifteen quid for 3 poppadoms, pickle selection, two onion bhajis, chicken rogan, saag aloo, rice and naan. And the quality is excellent - the chicken rogan in particular was bursting with flavour. Im having the naan and saag aloo for lunch today. At that price and quality just do it!!

Our food was absolutely amazing and the restaurant was so authentic and beautiful.Me and the waitress joked about my partner paying the bill and I told them it was actually his birthday.. they ended up bringing a cake out with a candle.. it was so sweet. When the bill came it felt like a steal! Then they ended up giving us an extra 10% nhs discount and thanked me for my service in the NHS.Thankyou so much. You topped off our day x

Worst experience with the crazy almost bald guy. Very disrespectful behaviour. He will question you on everything you will order and will give weird looks if you will order only one starter or say the curry as side and will literally say he is very surprised that you order a little. It’s my choice what I want to eat dude who are you to judge me! Same goes for food, if you looking for real Indian food go to Memsaab or Calcutta Club, this is not the place for good food.

Mogal E Azam used to be a great Indian restaurant, the delicious starters used to be served sizzling in hot plate, the mains were sensational and.....Unfortunately these are the things of the past. This is always our go-to place after attending gig at Rock City. They were a bit busy this time, but the food was great as usual.Went again on 1 March, and just to set the record straight from another review: 1) The staff cant choose the atmosphere - if no one is in, it WILL be quiet; 2) The staff are very friendly; 3) The quality of the food is excellent, and it is NOT overpriced - it is City Centre prices in a quality restaurant.

Mogal E Azam - Blissful dream comed trueThis restaurant is like a sacred place. It is not easy to talk about it and your very first descriptions won’t make it justice. I’ve been here a few times and I can not be more amazed of all the beautiful things that I can observe and feel with my whole being. It is like going back in time when there was no other law but the laws of love and gratitude. I came here and the guardians and angelic servants of this place made me feel like I am a worthy person… worthy of their time and attention. I have been invited to take a sit on the sofa just opposite to the bar, whilst waiting to be tended to. There, there are a few small round tables with very nice nibbles. When it was my turn to be served, the waiter thoughtfully asked me what kind of food I would like to enjoy and then he carefully informed me of how the food is going to be prepared and how it is going to taste. This dialog was very insightful and because I have never experienced it before anywhere in the UK, I do appreciate it very much. This shows me how much they care about their customers.I was seated at a table where two wine glasses, a vase with roses and table utensils where already set up like at a wedding table.Food was served in a timely manner and it was deliciously spicy! Some rice with chicken curry and some naan bread. The vegetables inside the curry where very nicely grilled and the chicken bites had the right size, taste and tenderness. I really enjoyed the way they serve the food in the bowls from which you take as much as you want and place it on your main plate, from where you can slowly and elegantly savour it without the risk of messing your clothing. The place is not very big but the way it is furnished with all the tables and indian cultural paintings and objects makes it feel like a dream retiring boat. You have all you need where you need it.The lights are a bit dimmed and nice and the music is very calming and puts you in a beautiful meditative state. In the back side of the restaurant, between tables are a few very nice carpets. It feels like you walk in a palace. On the entrance’s wall there are lots of pictures of a variety of great artists. There are so many things you can learn here if you ask nicely at the right time. The place is very well looked after and the toilets look exceptionally clean and well designed.Ive noticed that there are very fancy people who come here. People of all nationalities with different backgrounds and skills. Ive learned that many of them have been loyal customers of this restaurant for years. If you like big sensations, another thing that you can experience are the trepidations made by the tram passing between this restaurant and the University of Nottingham. The place is very well placed in town… close to the University, the theatre, Cineworld Cinema and next to Crown Plaza Hotel. You shouldve noticed it by now many times I think. If you are after discounts check it out, you might be as mesmerized as I am.Thank you for paying attention to what I had to say. It is your turn to spell your truth. If you enjoyed what you’ve learned from my review, letting me know in any way will be much appreciated.Cheers! In Partnership with Mogal E Azam

Very crowded restaurant. Youre barely given enough space on your table to eat without nudging the person next to you. The other tables areare packed in too tightly as well. The decor felt dated. It really needs a revamp. Our table was so draftly that I had to put my coat on until we complained and got moved. Neither table was near a window as our booking requested.Service was slow, although friendly, and the food very average.Their menus have photos of celebrities who have eaten there, but I get the impression that this is now ancient history and the restaurant is a shadow of what it once was.Wouldnt ever recommend.

Having read the very first few reviews for Mogal, I cant believe my eyes. This restaurant is lovely. I have never been to an Indian restaurant where the staff have been so dedicated to providing brilliant, friendly and efficient service. The waiters never fail to deliver a smile and a nice conversation between courses. The service is quick and not once have I found myself waiting for more than ten minutes. The staff are so unbelievably attentive and friendly; it is obvious that their only aim is to please. Not to mention the fact that they always provide girls with a flower upon exit! I somehow presumed this was chain of Mughal e azam Sparkhill in Bhm area. We ordered naans, butter chicken gravy, tandoori and Lime juice. Firstly not hygiene maintenance of dishes and the food was little burnt. The gravy was too much with spices and oil. Lime juice was not on the menu, but they offered to get prepared for us, I should first thank for the hospitality but regret I asked for it as I can prepare better one.

Really unhappy with this place.. ordered via UberEATS and it turned out expensive for what it was. Then when it arrived both curries were dry and lacking flavour. We rang the restaurant and spoke to a manager, who apologised and told us next time to call the restaurant directly and the next meal would be free. Perfect... we thought. We will give them a second chance. When we rang they said they would only give one curry free, and we would have to pay for the other one. So basically a pointless offer, as to get any sort of resolution we have to give them even more money. To top it off the guy on the phone kept hanging up on us?!
