Amazing South Indian food! We were so pleased with everything we had, just the right amount of food and spice!Staff was very nice and helped us choose something that made the experience even better. Thank you for serving us, we had an excellent time and would definitely recommend this restaurant for anyone who wants to taste and enjoy authentic Indian cuisine.

We had been to Dosa & Chutney for company dinner. The ambiance was decent. The staffs had a smiling & a very pleasant face throughout. They served authentic Indian food, which was highly satisfying & it’s a value for money.Every single team member loved the food & hospitality.
Amazing, truly authentic south indian food. Amazing staff and chef. It was a Home away from Home.
Lovely food... Lovely people... 😍 Feel like home country and Home food
You will find some Finger lick Indian food.
The food was great, especially the Dosa but we wish that the waiter was more engaging when we were asking about the types of food. We saw him interact the same way with the three other customers at the location. He didn’t have much to say and didn’t even say goodbye when we said it to him. That was the only let down.
Lovely food, friendly and helpful staff. I will be back for more.We had two Dosa and the lunch buffet, everything was really well cooked and tasted great.
Had never been here or tried a dosa before so was interested to see what itd be like when we went for lunch one Saturday. We werent disappointed! Our starters of chicken lollipops were delicious, particularly the sauce, and our dosas were great too. Lovely, light pastry, tasty filling and excellent dips. Good service and decent value too. Well be back.
DELICIOUS FOOD! Best south Indian restaurant in Nottingham
Absolutely excellent food and chutneys!! So authentic Indian and tasteful. They just nail it every time. The ambience, the music, the service, and ofcourse the food- just perfect!!! Me and my friends specially go to Nottingham all the way from Lincoln just to have some decent food. And for students like us living soo far away from our families, this place is such a blessing! Simply amazing:D.
“Mouth drooling & Flavourful dishes - Worth going to…”Needless to say, the best Indian restaurant here in Notts. Flavourful, high standard of cuisine, coupled with great ambience made my day memorable all the times I’ve visited. Worth to mention, flavourful sweet corn soup with fresh vegetables in it which I had during my last visit was absolutely top notch. Though missing those traditional Indian pics on the wall 😊., a varied & delicious menu with affordable prices served with friendly smile always, cannot recommend this restaurant enough! Much appreciated & will be back soon…
Staff are quite polite n service is quite fast. All dosas were nice, Chili Coriander is my favourite. They have changed menu n price. Bit high on your pocket!
Best dosa in Nottingham and authentic South Indian food. A great atmosphere watching the street below. It feels like you are in India.
Divine food - My taste-buds still remembers the food itemsIve been moved to Nottingham a year before, since then Dosa & Chutney became one of my favourite spots for Indian cuisine. Best part of their service is that they keep innovating and implement new ideas / fusion in the preparation of Indian food which makes them stand apart from other well-established restaurants here in Notts. Needless to say, the chicken curry which i tasted a week before sets the bar higher for me to match their taste at my home. Hats off to the captain of the ship & all the staffs working there because they not only serves food but also the brotherhood which always carries our day of visit to an extra mile.
Great little place in the centre of nottingham. Had the lunch buffet which was nice and reasonable for what you get.
Simple surroundings with delicious and authentic food, completed by very friendly and helpful service. Recommended!
South Indian and north Indian foods are available with reasonable price. Very good taste and amazing customer handling
Best South Indian food, always bring my friends and family here.
Excellent food, including delicious and unfamiliar dishes. Very friendly staff and reasonably priced.
Idlys were delicious, just like they make it back home in South India.Dosa was good too.Gobi Manchurian was hot but tasty. The place looks alright , ambience can get better. What really can be improved is the service. Its slow like really slow.We had to literally wait for 15 minutes and had to call someone to take our order. But the food compensated for slow service so 4 stars.I hope on my next visit, the service improves.
Truly a great way to experience South Indian cuisine, it tasted amazing and wasnt entirely expensive. I would definitely come again.
Dosa Chutney is our go to place. Whenever we have been here there is no disappointment. The choice of Dosas is amazing and quantity absolutely worth the price. The menu is very extensive and everything on it upto the mark. But I can only speak of vegetarian food (have tried almost anything on the menu). The service is great and the staff is very friendly and helpful. For my Jain friend, they customized a few items as well. Also, the location is very convenient by road, bus or tram.
Was so embarrassed by dosa and chutney restaurant in Old Market Square. After seeing several recommendations in an earlier post I thought I might give it a try. They made us wait 50 minutes for one plate of idli and one dosa even though we were among the first customers. My non-indian friends left cuz they had other appointments and I sat there by myself feeling humiliated.Theres just one lady who is serving all the tables. And in the name of filter coffee they served us instant coffee. Even half a decent restaurant has filter coffee. In the name of cost cutting they are torturing the customers and the poor staff. And it was a nearly full restaurant so they cant say they are struggling, so why the cost cutting? And the final nail in the coffin, they charged nearly 8£ for that dosa and 11£ for a biryani.Indian greed and corruption showing its ugly head here
Amazing food, south indian food is underrated. My friend raju charan teja had recommended me this place. Im telling you, if you aint got a south indian mate, get one now otherwise you’ll miss gems like this place. 10/10, would recommend it 11/11 if that was the scale but it’s not. Only downside is the music is not loud enough, seriously i love my desi tunes so wanna hear every beat, melody and raag.
Every item we ordered was delicious. Friendly service. I completely recommend
I would say I can give 10 start rating for this restaurant. We were not resident of Nottingham and stayed here for this weekend and had been to this restaurant today! Dosa was excellent with chutneys and sambar! A+… we had biriyani as well and it was fantastic too! The ambience was neat and more over customer service was excellent. The boys were so friendly and approachable! மொத்ததுல நம்ம வீட்ல சாப்பிட்ட திருப்தி🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Always love coming here for some dosa and chilli chicken, the flavors of any dish ordered here are so good, and prices are reasonable as well.Staff are quite friendly and welcoming.
Always enjoy eating in this place, really wonderful food
We ordered biriyani. It was just an instant masala rice with few chicken pieces. Not worthy for 11 pounds. It wasnt biriyani at all. But fried rice and noodles were great.
Just love this place- can’t fault it highly recommend
I came with my family and it was the best experience. I ordered an chilly chicken and god it was nice it had spice and sweet at the same time one of the perfect food I ever had the customer service was the best I was waiting for this restaurant to open over lockdown and finally it opened and it still has our expectations covered
Brilliant & delicious food, at very reasonable prices. The food took me back to when I was in India - Highly recommend!
Wow wow what a delicious food! I had a kottu rotti. It was amazing. It brings back the home taste and the staff more friendly. They didnt took long to serve the foods.
Dosas are amazing but however the meat options do not taste good
Taste of food is good, especially rasam.
Fantastic food at great prices.
No parking and standard of food wasnt great at all. Chicken came with a stone and replacement dish came with pieces of polythene.
A really good place to eat traditional South Indian and Sri Lankan cuisine. Not expensive and very good quality and the staff are very friendly.
Im a regular customer to the restaurant. In the past the foods taste was really very good and the staffs were really good. They usually give priority to customers with kids. We waited for months for the restaurant to open after lockdown and we went to restaurant on the inaugural day, but we were Highly disappointed. Overall experience was very bad. We went with our kid. They took the order at around 7.45. The staff cameback around 9.30 and informed us that its going to take 20 more minutes to get the food. We left the restaurant without having anything. It was highly disappointing.
Excellent customer service and good environment and nice taste
Unimpressive food, the chicken dhosa was mostly potato and impressively badcservice.
We have visited this place many a times and I can safely say this is one of the finest restaurant in city centre for south indian meal. However there is huge problem with the restaurant is the service, it is very poor and sometimes it gets worst because we saw during our last visit that there was just one lady taking care of all the people during the lunch time when it is at peak and we were just waiting for our orders to be taken. If that can be managed, its a nice restaurant.
This place is very easy to miss out whilst walking near to the Taxi rank around Wheeler Gate. the ambience is OK but compliant with Covid-19 regulations. I had word of mouth publicity and yes, the restaurant matched up to it too! Kayal was the only place for South Indian cuisines in Nottingham but these guys will easily take them on and defeat too. I had the Coriander and Chilli Dosa which is generally not served with the Masala (Potato and Onion Stuffing) but they did accommodate my request. The freshness and quality of the food was very good and taste was exquisite. I will definitely visit again. Fellow diner were meat-eaters and they had Chicken Chukka which made me see and feel from the aroma that I was missing out on something special....Keep it up Dosa-Chutney
Very bad experience. Was there many times before. The food was delicious those days with good service. But went there recently. Totally disappointed because of poor service and low quality dishes. Wont recommend to anyone.
One of the best places in Nottingham to have some very good South Indian food
One of those Indian restaurants in Nottingham where you get authentic Indian food with proper spice levels. This joint serves the cuisine from the southern part of India.Kotthu paratha, chettinandu chicken, chicken noodles, varieties of dosa are among the must trys. We were quite taken off by the deserts as well. We loved the hot gulab jamun with ice cream and mango kulfi. The staffs were jolly and prompt.Area of improvement: portion size of chicken mains can be a bit more, since theyre lipsmacking but costly.
Nice food but service was a bit of a let down. But worth going and giving it a try.
I was so excited to finally get to this restaurant and thankfully it was exactly what I had hoped. I had been craving dosas after coming back from a long stay in South India last year and I came away very happy. We had masala dosa (served with chutney obvs) and masala poori and they were delicious. We also had rasam vada and paneer tikka as starters which were also yummy. The staff were helpful and friendly and the service was quick. The only downside for me is that is pretty expensive for a dosa. This time I would have paid anything but I won’t be able to come as often as I would like (ie everyday).Someday we will make it back for the lunch Buffett….
Great ambience, yummilicious food at nominal price.
Excellent food. Authentic South Indian food.
Very friendly staff, good hygiene and delicious food 😋
Food was amazing no doubt. Some food quality consistency in my third visit. Good clean and hygiene practice. Your customer service is awful. You can’t feel comfortable while ordering or asking some suggestive item for make great food experience. They seems like robot topped with certain words of restaurant customer service, no one put their effort to customers happy. They seems very pressurised (no smiley faces!!). It’s seems I have to eat there. But trust me cause of great dishes I tempted to be there. I’ll do take away next time. No one say thank you or feel your presence!!
Always a pleasure! The food never fails to impress!
Food is great and at a good price, as well as the place having a nice atmosphere. Staff are not so great seem a bit off with the fairies. I asked for some more chutney and raita to go with my main and after 5 minutes still didnt get any. Asked another member off staff and still never actually got any and at this point I had finished my food. The personal hygiene of some of the staff is not the best in the world either. Dosa & no chutney.
Lot of varieties of South Indian dishes with good quality
Food tasted really bad. So I could see the price has increased but foods taste and quality had come down. Was highly disappointed. I was a huge fan of egg biriyani earlier but now it tasted like tomato rice. Highly disappointed...
As an Indian I was not keen on trying an Indian Restaurant in UK, especially one that claims to make dosa! So I was genuinely surprised by how good the food was. The food transported me back to home. I will definitely be revisiting soon. The restaurant is pleasant, service is good and it is so affordable! I really loved it!!
Good ambience and great food
Good South Indian food..
Food is very delicious. Atleast once you should try egg biryani..
Very tasty dosa and good quantity too. Try Mysore masala dosa
Good food and ambience
Very poor service. No dishes upto the mark.
Excellent food. It was so fresh and delicious. My family would definitely go here at least once a week. Weve been to lots of Indian restaurants but this has to be the best by far. I definitely recommend going here. It is a wonderful experience and I am certain you will enjoy it.
I went to this place after lockdown asI was missing the authentic taste of south India. To be honest I wasnt disappointed. The authenticity and flavors of the food were just delicious and fantastic as they always were. 5 stars to the service and quality
I was a regular customer and when they started they had really nice staff and the food and the service was really nice. Last 2-3 times the service was really poor. The guy who took the order(looks like he is the manager) was really arrogant and if we asks something he is replying in an arrogant and disrespectful manner. His behaviour is not at all acceptable. The same sort of experience for our friends as well. Decided not to go there anymore.
As a frequent customer, the food was good enough but we were not satisfied with other required needs like wait was long and meanwhile service was not attentive and organized. When you opt for takeaway please make sure you are checking all the items before taking away parcel to home, as we experienced that ordered items missing in parcel and unfortunately it was not once or twice, by that it was clear that they did not bother to lose or serve a customer by maintaining their required standard. We wish that they should improve the standard and request to be well organized to serve better.Thanks.
Good South Indian food. Nice ambience. Friendly staff.
If anyone is craving for a good south Indian food and best price this is the place. I have eaten here many times, it gave me a complete essence of South Indian flavor. I request them to come on deliveroo also. For the price the food is not bad. Its worth trying it.
Saravana Bhavan have some serious competition!! This place has really authentic Indian food. We had the thali and 4 feet dosa. Really tasty! Including sambar, chutneys. Everything was A1!Serving staff were attentive, timely and courteous. The restaurant itself was very clean.Probably will only request owner to keep toilets clean and smelling nice as that is truly a stain on this otherwise superb restaurant. Also invest some time in training staff in their own health i.e posture while serving so they dont hurt their backs in the long run..
High quality food and good customer service...:-)Best choice for south Indian cuisine!
Went for lunch and the dhosa was lovely nice gently spiced lamb korma that was very tender
Best south Indian food I had in a very very long time... gonna visit again whenever I get a chance...
This place is amazing for the price. It’s half the price of places like Calcutta club, but only marginally lower quality.According to my South Indian colleague, it’s pretty good (relative to his impression of Indian food in England generally)
Good indian and Sri Lankan food
Imagine the year is 2020, a fully fledged grown up orders what she wants to eat. The waiter tells her No. and refuses to put her order through. Because it will be too much food. Since when at a restaurant they don t want you to order food?A shame really. Regulars at this place since day one as the food is great but service has always been on the poor side. We keep going back despite this but not after today.
I like this resturantThey serve vry delicious Indian food
The food is amazing and prices are great for city centre restaurant... the staff are very welcoming and cordial.. the only downside is they dont have baby changing and as restaurant is on first floor, you need to lift the pram or strollers upstairs...
As the name it is best place for trying dosas and other authentic south indian dishes. They also serve drinks at the place. The ambience is nice and the taste of food is also good. Unfortunately the place dont have a wheelchair accessible entrance.
A bit surprised that such a low key entrance leads to such an open space. Concept is good, food was very good, portions generous, all at a very reasonable price. Will return!
Excellent food, very authentic. Especially recommend the dosa, kottu and briyarni. Will definitely be back!
Excellent service and amazing food. As good as if not better than the food back home. Must visit. The pepper chicken was to die for. The dosas are heavenly but a little oily. Doesnt matter. Still delicious. Great value for money and the perfect introduction to South Indian food for anyone living in England.
Amazing food and service, one of the best dosa places around !
Food was excellent, really recommends the karakadi fish curry, lamb briyani and dosa was amazing! Really missing the authenticity South Indian food post lockdown. Amazing food! Keep up with the good food.
