Having headed out to dinner around 8pm, most places had run out of food or stopped serving. Luckily The Windhover was still serving, albeit we were told they were out of a few dishes. We opted to have a selection of the starters, which was a good choice, we ended up with an extra starter of the mushrooms in a cream sauce which we hadnt ordered, but it turned out to be my favourite dish! They didnt charge us for which was nice of them. This place has a lovely rustic country pub feel, its cosy and I can imagine in the winter with the log fire it must beautiful.
Lovely country pub with mostly great tasting food. The drinks were slightly pricier than I expected and sadly the Sunday roast which I had was very average. Nothing particularly wrong with it but the portion was rather small and there were no greens on the plate. In addition we waited about 45 mins-1hr for food which i didn’t mind considering there was lovely weather…but we did get noticeably more hungry. All the other dishes seemed to taste good. The triple cooked chips were amazing. The desserts were very nice. I highly recommend the flower pot - a lovely special touch here.Overall my family and I had a good time here. It’s a good establishment by most means but there’s always room for improvement I suppose.
Lovely staff, really nice food. Beautiful surroundings.Just a bit too pricey for the experience. We dont mind paying top prices for excellent locations, but this was too expensive.Although the staff were lovely and were very helpful, there was one lady behind the bar telling others (extremely loudly) what to do. She was nigh on shouting instructions. This really was extremely diminutive for the overall experience of the meal. The shouting plus also the throwing of empty bottles into the bin made both myself and my companion jump on a number of occasions. As I suffer with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, both the shouting and the crashing of glass had me on edge on and off throughout our visit. The Windhover is a lovely building in a great place, and a perfect meeting point to sit either inside or out. I would really like to have scored it a higher star rating, but for the above points. However, I do feel that they could easily be rectified and I hope to return in the future to experience an even better visit.
Such a beautiful place in a perfect location and staff are always pleasant, but one particular member of staff by the name of Will always stands out.Wills personality and professionalism always stands out as he goes above and beyond to make your experience a magical one and we thank him for that.If ever there is a queue at the bar he will always acknowledge you and apologise for the wait as he is extremely polite and friendly at all times. Will your a true natural barman.Windhover a great experience and great service and food. Will be back again soon 😀
We were served by Rebecca, very nice polite helpful young lady the meal was lovely there so much of it we couldnt eat it all. The veg was a little bit to hard for us but it was a lovely meal the meat was superb thankyou
Excellent staff and ambience - VERY spicy chicken pizza though!
The actual pub is very nice but the food is not . It is overpriced and not value for money.Gammon and egg and chips is just that. No peas or salad garnish but the price is high. Lasagne clearly a microwaved dish but costing a lot.The food served to some in our party was coldSmall portions at a very high cost.Avoid.Wil theThis pub needs to improve dramatically.
Visited for Sunday lunch, had a thoroughly enjoyable experience. Tasty food, good atmosphere & friendly staff. A tad expensive, but definitely worth a visit.
Myself and my husband went today for Sunday lunch. We explained that my husband has a severe allergy to mushrooms and due to this I also cannot eat them. I ordered pork belly and my husband had the beef. When it came out, my husband was then told that the gravy has traces of mushrooms in but it was up to him if he wanted to have it. At this point I had already put it on my food. Obviously my husband could not have the gravy due to his severe allergy. We was told there was no other gravy they could use as they only use vegetable gravy. This was not stated on the menu, or was not told us before ordering else we would have eaten something else or gone elsewhere. Very disappointed with the meal as a whole. Vegetables looked like they had seen better days, potatoes seemed like they were warmed up and my husbands meal was clearly too dry. The server told us to bring our own gravy next time to avoid this happening again. On the way home, my husbands throat began to feel tight, we had to get litres of water to stop it from closing. Will not be going back. Complaint has been made. Waiting for a response.
Lunch and drinks for a couple of colleagues leaving. Lovely environment, the staff were very helpful accomodating us all inside because of the weather. Great choice of food which was very nice and reasonably priced.
The service was good, the food was ok. First meal out since time began (certainly feels that way) to celebrate all the birthdays, Christmas and exam successes and the only vegan option was a plant based burger and a side salad…no chips! More options, more business…
Great place for Sunday lunch. Good food. Great service by personable staff.
Good food....Spicy chicken 🍕🌶
Had a lovely lunch at the Windhover. I had the country sandwich and my wife had the fish and chips. The ladies serving us were very pleasant, i didnt get their names (sorry!).
Service is brilliant waitress Nicole very attentive and friendly have been visiting many times now they do breakfast even more food lovely a very pleasant experience its my local 😀
Fairly decent place really food ok if a little expensive what what it is my real disappointment was why do these places have to do continental lagers at ridiculous prices??? Surely a country pub under the banner vintage would offer more traditional lagers
Lovely place. Friendly staff. Food very good, amazing puddings. Lovely place to take Friends if you want to impress.
A nice dog friendly pub. Also a great place to eat. The food is missing a side portion ie peas with the gamon and steak and salad with the burgers.
Lovely pub in a nice area. Plenty of outside seating for a cheeky pint on a hot sunny day.🍺🍺🍺
Nice place, food was amazing. I recommend this one for relaxing and like a restaurant.
Great pub that I have visited plenty of times. Most recently a few weeks after indoor seating was allowed again. The staff are always friendly and helpy. Food is tasty and well priced
Very friendly and approachable staff. Had the Vegan menu, excellent choice. Definitely recommend a visit if youre vegan! Had a hiccup when ordering the dessert, but the staff were very apologetic and empathetic. Got a replacement, no hassle. Went with my family and niece, was very quiet and we were well looked after. Staff were very patient with my niece. Real log fire, decor was lovely, location was great. Definitely going to be our go-to place when I visit Northampton in the future!
Lovely pub with a fab garden, dog friendly and very welcoming team !
We celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary here and had a delicious meal in lovely surroundings with very pleasant staff. We highly recommend it. We will definitely be visiting again.
Lovely pub with homely feel to it. Lots of outdoor seating
A lovely place friendly staff great food would highly recommend
Excellent staff and fantastic food, keep up the good work ❤
Local and dog friendly. Nice for a family catch up.
Lovely food, great service. Will come again
Lovely evening, we sat in the garden for just a drink, very polite, friendly staff, only marked down because the app is so unuser friendly!
Lovely meal & they accomodated us outside even though wed booked restaurant. Very helpful & polite staff
Good food great place staff very attentiv
My daughter has moved in to the area and this is her local pub so we decided to go for some food....and Im so glad we did. This is a lovely pub inside and out, great garden to sit in, and the inside has been done out rather nice, but the best thing about this pub is the food....I had a duo of lamb and I was blown away....it was cooked to perfection and I have to put this meal in my all time top 10 of meals Ive eaten...even the other members of our group agreed...it is a fantastic place, and the staff are friendly. The only criticism I can find about this place is that the restrooms are on the first floor or though they do have a disabled toilet on the ground floor.....but I can look past that....loved the place and food, so I would highly recommend and definately go there again.Update: 5 days after posting this review, the owner contacted me and thanked me for writing it and basicly said he was glad we enjoyed it, and would show it to the staff for a job well done..this shows they care, not only to the customers but appreciate their staff as well...another reason you should all try this place out...very highly recommended. Thx again!
Very nice food.Helpful polite staffVery good covid 19 safety measures in place.
Very nice pub but unfortunately the woman that greeted us didn’t want the business. She told us no tables and had no solutions for us even though we had booked a table, the system was apparently down but lots of empty tables
Very nice. We visited when you had to sit outside, but it was really nice, the staff were great and the food was lovely.
Pleasant, helpful staff, good food.
Higher prices than your run of the mill chain pubs but well worth it. Great food lovely atmosphere.
Super fast table service. Not eaten here for a while but when I did it was a great menu. Not really a place for kids but a lovely country pub.
Good food in the garden, adequate service as staff very busy
Burger was Excellent. Sticky Toffee Pudding was immaculate.
We had a lovely meal cooked to perfection friendly staff would eat at the Windhover again
Veggie burger was tasty, but the Flower Pot pudding was absolutely delicious! Friendly staff too.
Lovely staff, nothing too much trouble. The food delicious 😋
First visit to the windhover. Nice pub we ate inside, not too busy and the food was good. Freindly staff and good service
Very slow service (15 mins drinks, chasing food twice after 30 mins with no one coming back). Missed drink and food item
Nice place, food great and staff friendly. Highly recommend
Always good service and meals always quality . Been going for years and will continue
Lovely lunch service very good
Very nice Sunday roast.
Booked for 430pm last Saturday for 11 people as it was my sons engagement, told would require 2 tables due to covid, which is fine. When we arrived informed our table was booked for 4pm, I definitely did not book it for 4? We also asked due to the nice weather if we could sit in the garden, told we could but again on 2 separate tables, now I may be wrong but I thought you could sit with more people, up to 3 households outside? Refused to allow the 2 tables to be put together, although we would not have been any closer to any other family, this was disappointing. My son ordered the pizza with extra halloumi, it arrived without the halloumi and we did advise the waiter at the time however was still charged for this ,my bad should have checked the bill before paying. The food was good as always but again we had a couple of issues with the wrong drinks, that said we still love the windhover and would return
Lovely settings. Nice drinks sitting outside( sun but breezy)
We had a lovely meal, but unfortunately we felt the service was very slow.
Nice food and really good service. Good social distance measures.
Great staff & service - very Covid conscious/ compliant.Must be good - weve been there 2 weeks in a row !
Booked a table table 7:30, was told to sit where we wanted to and were provided menus for food.We waited 45 minutes and werent able to order.
Lovely atmosphere and great food
Great food. Great service
Meal out for husbands birthday very enjoyable
I really like the Windhover, unfortunately the Roast Beef Dinner was disappointing.
Beautiful building, great customer service and tasty food!
Excellent beer and venue. Staff were very professional and cleanliness was good
Great service, lovely food
Good quality, well priced lunch in a lovely atmosphere
Came here to eat on a weeknight and had a brilliant meal, lovely quality food and not too busy either. Staff were so unbelievably friendly and helpful, adhering to covid measures well which was reassuring. Was very pleasantly surprised by the pizzas they do, thoroughly impressed by the range of toppings too! Was raining when we came but have enjoyed many drinks in the large garden here previously too.
The menus is very basic and the food is not that great
Fab food, service and atmosphere. Love it!
Rebecca was our waitress and was extremely helpful and friendly. All the staff were friendly too. The Sunday lunch was really good, Ive been several times but have to say the food was exceptional. I passed some feedback about improving the roast spuds before, this time they were perfect.
Great outdoor soace
Lovely, evening, great service, excellent food
Lovely fish and chips and felt very safe there
Very friendly staff & service great roast lamb
Nice pub lovely views staff can be hit and miss service can be slow and confused.
Really enjoyed our lunch here
Unfortunately to over priced, good clean food though
They sell Doom Bar . Ther service was equally good.
The food from the two or three course lunch option was lovely, but I was a bit disappointed with the lobster fish cake(s), the menu said plural (fish cakes) but when the main arrived there was only one on my plate. It was delicious but left me wanting dessert which I dont often have. I didnt complain at the time as we were there for my friends birthday, but it was a little obvious as her main portion was a decent size compared to mine :/
Excellent service and excellent food. First time dining out since Covid-19 pandemic began and thoroughly enjoyed the Windhover.
Amazing food 😋
Been here two weeks in a row with friends on a Monday evening. Service was really welcoming. Food was delicious. I had the beef bourginion last week and lamb on this occasion. Both dishes were really tasty and well presented. Everyone in the party was happy and will visit again.
Nothing more than a chain pub, serving overpriced under prepared food, 2 stars as its better than a McDonalds...just
Whatever happened to basic sandwiches and food.
Had such a lovely meal here few nights ago. It was so delicious. The restaurant felt really covid secure they are definitely following the guidance. All Staff were great especially Rosie who was really friendly and helpful. Will be visiting again very soon.
Covid safe organisation minimal from my perspective (garden table). Two visits to the bar and staff were not wearing face coverings and I didnt see a one-way system although I cant be sure one didnt exist. Staff friendly enough and food (lunch) was very tasty indeed. Definitely worth a visit.
Very good service and excellent food
Had a lovely lasagne recommend to anyone
Location and service good. Food choice bit disappointing.
Good beer and drinks selectio
Lovely food and plenty of space.
Excellent food and service.
Lovely garden and buildings... Staff are nice too. The food is much too expensive for its level of quality. Disappointing on that count, sorry.
