So delicious but not very original. Too sweet. The tea jelly is too hard and the portions are enormous. One bowl of shaved ice is enough food for four people to share. Also a bit expensive. I have had shaved ice for much cheaper with more interesting topping choices. That being said, I’m still awarding 4 stars because their mango snowflake with taro balls really IS as good as everyone says it is. A must try for foreigners visiting Taipei, and clearly still very popular with locals.
Must try dessert in Taiwan !!! Its a very big bowl, suitable for 4-5 people. The best seller is mango flavor, you really should take the pudding as add on topping. We love this dessert so much as we even eat another flavor at Taipei 101. This place usually very crowed, make sure you have time to wait. Since we came on a very windy evening so dont have to wait at all !!!
After a delicious noodle lunch, it was a short walk over to this Smoothie House for dessert! The Heart of the Ocean Snowflake Ice (Mango and Tapioca Pearls) 250 NTD was screaming “choose me” at us. It was so easy to succumb to temptation this time around.Service was fast and there was seating on the busy patio.Another terrific Taiwanese food experience!
If you are a foreign visitor, and you have heard about this famous ice shop, but when you are there finding too many people line up, you can always try the second floor, it is indoor with air conditioning, and you wont need that much of time waiting like the ground one。The difference between upstairs and downstairs, would be they only offer big size bow downstairs, but people can share the same one。At upstairs, they have 2 kinds of portion, the one same as downstairs, and small ones about half portion from it, and half priced too。People worrying about they have minimum charge upstairs, dont be, because the minimum charge is lower than each small size bow you order。And if you are visiting for the first time, I would suggest beginning with the smaller size。
Nice place for some shaved ice and mango ice cream if you are in the area. I wouldn’t go out of my way to go there though. It is fairly expensive for what you get but the portions are huge (see photo).Kids love it and the ice is good on a hot day -it’s simply not amazing (or cheap) or it would see 5 stars.
Amazing mango shaved ice place! As a mango-lover, this was one of the must-go-to places in Taipei as a tourist. The price was decent, and the portion was generous (3 servings approx.). I probably would have loved it more if it was not during winter time 10pm in the evening. Because I went there maybe an hour before closing, there were not that many people, and a lot of Korean tourists, like any other touristy places in Taipei! I would definitely come back for another spoonful of this madness when the weather gets warmer :)Strongly recommend this place for shaved ice fans!
Ordered the Mango snowflake; I liked it. However mangos are not as fresh, well they are frozen. It would be better if the fruits are all fresh cut but that would be more work, but it did cost 260 NTD. I did love the snowflakes, they are mingled with some flavor as well, I hope they could improve their flavors to be more healthy!
The place has a upstairs and a downstairs. It’s pretty easy to find because it’s located on a corner. The place has a decent variety of ice hat you can choose from. The mango ice pictured is the most popular ice they serve. The ice itself was mango flavored but the mangos they gave me were a bit sour themselves. The pudding itself adds a nice texture element to the ice and helps balance the dessert itself. The place is clean and the service is good.
Ice blast in hot hot Taipei city!!When I first eat a spoon of this brilliant mango shaved ice, all my hot energies are disappear, only remains cold breeze.Second, third ... more and more I eat this ice, which is so sweet and cold enough, I can feel truly happiness. This is the privileges that trip give to you.Just try it.
Visited dessert store recomended by CNN - Smoothie house.Located on Yongkang street.I ordered signature dish, Mango bingsu serve with a small pudding. Its really big. Two of us couldnt finish it. Mango icecream is smooth, full of mango flavor, the bingsus too sweet. Pudding is the best part of this one.By the way, when we came it was about 8 in the morning, too soon to have an ice-cream and we didnt have breakfast yet, lucky we found a small food counter oposite smoothie house, it look like a kind of pancake, it have egg, ham, cheese, cabbage in the middle, so yummy
Look at the massive shaved ice! It includes a lot of diced fresh fruits, with a scoop of strawberry ice cream. Best dessert in summer! Advice for the people visiting, they have outdoor standing tables and regular seats, so it is up to you to eat wherever you want. The portion is really big, so I suggest sharing between two people or more unless you are taking it as a main.
The quality is going down, not as good as it used to be. And they are making annoying rules such as everyone must order their own dish to sit upstairs. It used to be you could share one between two people. They didn’t use fresh mangos this time but used canned mangos instead. It used to be better than it was this time
The interior ambience is great. A good place for gathering with friend and family. But the taste of the mango ice was too sweet for me. There’s no a bit of sour like a real mango. Feels like it’s all but sugar. Maybe will try another menu next time.
Smoothie House is a must when visiting Taipei! Its on the hyped and well destined YongKang St so it is visited by many tourists. Anticipate waiting in line for this reason. Taipei has become pretty famous for this shaved ice dessert and Smoothie King definitely dresses it up to the nines. There are many different varieties to choose from but I personally recommend the classic mango. Some of my friends were disappointed that they use canned mango instead on fresh mango but I preferred it that way since I think the texture of mango is weird. 😁. You should definitely visit Smoothie King before leaving Taipei!
Swing by this place and get the mango shaved ice! It’s a nice way to cool down from the summer heat. The chunks of mangos were perfectly sweet and the mango ice cream on top was bomb! The portion size was enough to feed myself and two other guys. The mango flan was just ok, but Im not a flan person anyways.Don’t worry about it being crowded. Turnaround is quick.
If wed like to order at 2nd floor, we should order drinks or ice flake by every person.but they allow to chinese or taiwanese(able to speak chinese) to order 1 menu for 2-3person.I understand that because the ice flake is cheap and a lot of people are waiting.but, ice flake is too big for 1 person, except flake and juice, there is no choice to drink. The mango flake (no. 11)was good, the juice was not good
I’m choosing a four because it is too crowded and they don’t have the slightest brain to expand the store. Instead, they created multiple shops around the same area. The food is great and all, but the service needs some work 😋
This place is crowded with tourists, and you could find yourself on the 2nd floor with aircon rather than eating outdoor.I find this snowflake ice to be overrated, mainly because it is well known for appearing on CNN. But taste wise it’s just a bit sweeter & stronger than other place’s, and the price is much higher than the usual.
Good pre and post lunch stop. Portion is big enough to share among 2-3 people (justify for higher pricing for its dessert). We had one Mango shaved ice dessert. Like the fresh mango and ice cream, and overall quality was above average. I recommend you share 2-3 people.
Theres a reason why this place is packed every single day. The bingsu is awesome. The consistency and texture of the ice feels like youre eating ice cream. The pricing is super worth the money. Waiting in line is also worth your while coz its THAT GOOD. Get the tiramisu one. Its amaziiiiing!P.S.: I went to the Yongkang branch. Loved it!
Nice desserts. No need to wait. The portion is like madness. Couldn’t finish
This is a good shaved ice,.
Mango shaved ice (their bestseller) is decent, a big shareable bowl with a jelly/pudding as the side. The shaved ice itself is lightly mango flavoured and tasty, and the scoop of mango ice cream is creamy but a little sweet. -1 star because they don’t use fresh mangoes (the cashier declared that they use frozen mangoes), and you can really taste the artificial flavouring/ preservative in the mango cubes. Another -1 star for the fact that it’s quite pricy at NT$250.
It was not bad, we ordered the mango shaved ice. And the taste was indeed quite good. Two stars were taken off only because we over expect the amount and taste versus the money we pay. I have the clarify that I’m a local, so I know the general serving portion and price of mango ice, so for we over-expected a bit.All in all, it’s a worthy stop for tourist.
I love this place. The mango shaved ice with whatever else you want to throw at it is top notch. There are very few place in the whole world that can even attempt to compete with the quality of the snacks here. I highly recommend it and I make a point of coming here any time I am in Taipei.
Taiwan’s mango shaved ice is one of my favourite desserts ever. It’s refreshing, cooling and naturally sweet (and not overbearing). I had this multiple times in Taipei and Smoothie House was my favourite by far. Compared to other desserts in Taiwan, shaved ice is a bit on the pricey side but in my opinion still worth it.
Love their mango shaved ice so much especially the mango pudding!! definitely a go-to dessert place
Shaved ice looks nice but taste so so. NT250 per bowl (2person but unable to finish it), too sweet and they are using frozen mango which dont taste fresh. Rather go for local shaved ice which cheaper and taste much better than this outlet.
We stopped here after seeing the giant signs and hearing about the shaved mango ice from someone in Taichung. We got the taro and mango shaved ice. From the bottom up we got chewy taro pieces that were warm, mango, a bunch of shaved ice with I think brown sugar syrup, and mango sorbet on top. All of it was tasty. The shaved ice is so thin it just melts in your mouth. If you are visiting Taiwan I would suggest checking this out!
I came to try the “world famous” mango flavour. I find only disappointment. Because Taiwan produced very delicious mango- if you just buy mango from supermarket or local market, they taste very good by its self. The mango served in this store has being processed and thus the freshness taste of mango is gone; tastes like a canned fruit。 And I find it overpriced. I try a few spoons and decided to abandon the dish as I am ready to try other many delicious restaurants nearby!
It is a very popular dessert restaurant. Their specialty is the mango shaved ice. It is huge and could be share among friends (like around 2-3). Be aware though, they have two places, one is downstairs and one is upstairs. The one downstairs is usually more crowded (cons: hard to find place to sit; pros: could share your ice with other people) the one upstairs is usually less crowded (pros: easier to find place to sit down and talk to your friends, more comfy, cons: each person has to order one and remember the portion is huge (at least for me)). Enjoy the shaved ice.
Ordered the number 10 mango shaved ice. Mango cubes were fresh and sweet, but the shaved ice itself was just OK. Did not blow me away. Good pick me up for a hot summer day, but wouldn’t go out of your way to come here. There’s table seating on the second floor, so you don’t have to crowd around outside on the first floor
