Dirapuk monastery is the halt on the first night of the three-day circumambulation (parikrama) around Mount Kailash (Gang Rinpoche). It offers the most captivating view of the western face of the great mountain that is said to be the home of Lord Shiva. The location is mostly a collection of camps to to accommodate pilgrims, and offers nothing more than rudimentary amenities.
