First time in NY coming from LA! Couldn’t have had a better start to my morning thanks to this place. Food was out of this world. Portions/options/ flavors/ ambience/ music was on point! A big shout out to Kelly for guiding/helping me through this experience.

Nice atmosphere with French background music that is pleasant to hear.For Sundays brunch, they had on the menu hash browns that were tasty - I recommend them. Both the impossible burger and the french fries were just okay. But the chocolate mousse is special - I loved its taste and freshness.I was impressed by the servers knowledge of the menu, which helped in avoiding the fettuccini, because it contained chicken stock. However, I was a bit disappointed that he didnt fill up my sparkling water nor did he ask if I was enjoying my meal.I dont think Ill come back unless there are no other options.

Our waiter wasn’t friendly or attentive to us. The eggs and meat weren’t cooked which resulted in one friends to vomit right on the table. Another waiter was really friendly and continue serve us to make our meal at least pleasant from a service perspective. I would say skip, this is subpar food.

The atmosphere was nice and clean with a crisp french vibe. Music was fitting. The mussels were amazing, get the one with bacon. The drinks were strong and the watermelon infused vodka is so good. Branzino is the best we have had in NYC. It comes whole just how we like it. The creamy spinach was my favorite. We would have given 5 stars but our waiter was not attentive at all. He took our order and we saw him an hour later only because we stopped him and accused him of ignoring. Other than that it was a pleasant experience

Cafe du Soleil is situated beside the river Stour in Canterbury occupying a former 18th century wool store. The restaurant is accessed by its own bridge over the river. The building was restored with a grant from English Heritage and it now showcases the extensive use of reclaimed building material from the 14C city wall. Cafe’s cuisine draws influences from Provence in southern France, from Italy and from the Pacific rim, to create a modern cuisine with a Mediterranean heart. The menu changes with the seasons, and much of our food is cooked in our wood burning oven, fed with locally sourced wood from managed forest.

The separate pods were so cool and heated. Service was quick. Food was good!

The drinks were great and the server was nice and attentive! However some of the food was a bit disappointing. The mushroom soup wasnt creamy enough. The crab cake burger was cold and instead of crab cake it was just crab meat mixed with some sauce. Also, the garlic fries had very little garlic powder spread on the top only....i expected the garlic to be spread out evenly.

Loved our outdoor brunch on Labor Day here. Terrific food and staff (kept our masks on throughout). The short ribs and mash potatoes were awesome! And so was the coq au vin and the crabmeat burger and Provençal omelette. Highly recommend and will come back for sure.

Poor food quality and extremely rude waiters. I came with my friend to celebrate her birthday, which it turned out to be her worst birthday ever.Table clothes and utensils are dirty, apparently nobody in the restaurant cares about hygiene. When my friend mentioning to the waiter about the table clothes, instead of apologizing, he said why dont you mention it earlier?Then my friend talked to the manager (probably the owner) about the waiters attitude and dirty table clothes, the manager got mad and said ok thats enough, just leave. And he also said good luck with your life. My friend said thats fine, we wont come back again. The manager then followed us outside and said just go away, we dont need people like you!The manager even stepped on my shoes without apologizing... What an amazing restaurantFood:1. Foie gras is unfresh and disgusting... Smell like rotten meat.2. Fish and lamb are tasteless and dry.3. Even their French fries are bad... Taste like oven made frozen French fries.Now I just want to quote the managers word good luck with your life to the restaurant.

Experience in the bubble was incredible! The food amazing! Service omg! Excellent. The manager is a very kind person. The escargot truly delightful!...I will definitely go back soon. Highly recommend to make reservations.

Always good food and friendly service. Their outdoor pods are great. They spray down with an aerosol disinfectant between diners and each has a small personal heater that keeps the pod warm. They took our order through the pod so there was minimal opening. I felt very safe.

A little pricey, but a cute little french bar. Drinks are strong and the food is good!

What a wonderful brunch. The staff was great, the private pop up room was warm, and the food was delicious! I would recommend enjoying a wonderful brunch, or dinner at this longtime New York City establishment. This is what outdoor eating in Covid times should be like.

Wow.. Im simply blown away by what an a amazing experience of not only ambience but deep, rich, delicious, top of the mark food. What an experience. This was my cousins favorite restaurant and lived upto the expectation of value and quality.Highly recommended if your in this neighborhood for a meal.

Fantastic menu that builds my expectations, but fails at the execution. The food sometimes was lacking a bonding/uniting flavor.The service was good when we arrived, but trailed off. Our waiter, after taking our order, checked on our appetizers then disappeared and didnt arrive until we asked another waiter for the check. We also watched other tables fail to flag down a waiter 5 away.

Love their bubble set up. Our waiter was attentive and very friendly. The food delicious (everything was eaten and pairs perfectly) and fairly priced. Honestly, looking to return soon. Make sure you have a reservation!

Love the food and the servicemen super friendly. Very clean. The sidewalk igloos make it feel notnonly safe, but quite magical.

We enjoyed a lovely prix fix meal on a recent weeknight. The first courses were great - my husband got the pate and it was a huge serving, and the spice salad was simple but delicious. The entrees were mixed. My husband got the fettucine and loved it. I got the chicken in riesling sauce which was described on the menu as creamy but it was a fairly bland broth and the carrot that was in it was barely cooked. The desserts were delicious and we enjoyed sitting outside and watching the world go by. Ill go back to give it another try as the only dish that was a disappointment was my entree.

You can dine outside in a bubble which is a fun experience and a great way to keep warm as the temperatures get colder. The food was lackluster and a bit bland, but there is a nice special on mussels.

Had a great outdoor bubble dinner - the space is very nice, private and warm, with minimal contact with other customers or even the waitstaff. Our server was very polite and attentive. The escargot and mussels were delicious. Fast service, cozy atmosphere and overall a memorable night.

What an exceptional restaurant. Never had Coq au Vin before, and their was absolutely delish! Spicy Lamb Sausages just had thr right amount of heat, which also lingers. Cocktails were very light and refreshing, especially in this weather. And the Creme Brulee was just right.

Wednesday date night deal was quite the treat. A great deal for a lovely night out without breaking the bank. The chocolate mousse was delectable!

My friend and I just passed by the restaurant. I got recommended by my friends friend. She told me there is a restaurant when I goes to work around the area and always has a line so I just guess its this place because no place else is crowded.For was good, service was just ok because it was so much of customer and not enough servers.

Went for Mothers Day dinner. I was surprised to see that the regular menu was not available. So, the mussels I went there for were not on the menu. We (2) were seated at a table in the corner, next to the maitre d stand, which meant lots of drawer banging right next to us. When my son inquired if the outdoor pods were heated, he was told they werent. I am now reading reviews that say they are! I asked for a house red wine, which ended up costing the same as the wines on the wine menu ($12). The fried calamari and frisee arugula salad were good. The server asked us to hold on to the used utensils for the entree. There was no place to put them, except on our napkins, which was messy. We both had the fettuccine with seafood for entrees. 2 shrimp, 2 mussels (plus one empty shell on mine), calamari, and overcooked pasta for $26 each. Overall, a disappointing dinner.

Amazing food and drinks. Friendly staff, great social distancing, spacious outdoor seating to watch the Champions League Finals. Owner is nice, made sure everyone was enjoying themselves.

Food is okay-ish with mushroom pasta particularly not recommended, but the ambience is what you come for. People are quite friendly. Reminds me of my time in Paris.

30 minutes until someone even took our order. An hour and 15 minutes before recieving food. The food was bland, no flavor at all. Burger king wouldve been a better satisfaction to price ratio. Im hopeful this was a disgrace to french cuisine and not the norm.

Even with all the extra outdoor dining space, I was continually bumped and knocked by passing staff.3 of our meals arrived, and then 3-4 minutes later the fourth one, so by then the first three were at best lukewarm.Steak Fritz was ordered M/R but arrived M/W and one (of the two) sides of garlic fries was so overcooked that the garlic was an unregognizable dark crumb and the fries were just crunchy sticks. The other serve of fries were golden, crispy and soft on the inside - and were delicious.Service was friendly but empty glasses overcrowded our table and werent taken away, when other drinks arrived.We were told they used to be great here by a passing friend who lives in the area. Not so anymore.

We had our first sisters outing brunch here and it was great!! Being in the table bubble made me feel extra protected, and being on the outside on such a beautiful day was well needed.

The French hostess wouldn’t accommodate an electric wheelchair and so I had to hop across the dining area to our table. As for the food, it’s ok. Wanted to suppose our local spots, but don’t need to repeat this experience.

Menu is nothing crazy but I got the skirt steak with mash potatoes and it was great. Plus now they have this bubble set up that everyone wants to be in.

Chill and savor the relaxed vibe at this Upper Upper West Side, French classic. It feels as if the old Ferrier had grown up, and taken a holiday!

This place was absolutely horrible and so bias. We saw our waiter a max of 4 times the hour that we were there. The food was bland and just a mash up that was thrown together in a small dish and thrown in the oven to heat. They were rude and seemed to be rushing my friends and I out of there as soon as possible even though there was an hour left of service time. I would not recommend this place for the food, service, or even the experience of inside. It is also definitely not worth the $30 per plate.

Great spot for outdoor safe dining. Food was nice as well. There is a time limit on tables so be aware of that.

Fun, even on a cold day, sitting in an outside buble. Friendly, attentive waiters, ready to accommodate request for special condiments. Fresh salads, rich bechamel sauce. Reasonably priced

The Nutella pancake was so so, could have been better if serve with whip cream or butter cuz the nutella made it a bit dry. However, the Nutella crepe was superb! The service was excellent though.

I love that you can eat in your own bubble and feel safer. The service was slow, one of the plates did not match and the crust of the french toast was burnt. I think all of these things can be fixed with proper attention to detail which goes a long way. Overall taste and quality of the food good.

Tasty French toast and croque madame

Returned last night 1/5/2021 for my wifes birthday. Ate in an igloo. Excellent food. Excellent service and the staff have the whole Covid thing worked out. It was 32F outside but too warm inside. Took off coats, turned down the heater. People behind me were dressed for a warm summer day and regularly popping out into the 32F air for what reasons I didnt know.Cant believe I didnt review this already. Must have been some place else. Was here 9/28/2020, almost a month ago as a break fast for Yom Kippur. It was Mussels Monday. Food was delicious. The place was magical. Really felt transported. So fortunate this place is so near to where I live. Will be returning soon. Favorite thing about the tent we ate (didnt get one of the clear plastic igloos, but that was ok), was the way you couldnt see the Broadway traffic so am very happy to see the return of the tent which looks more substantial than ever.

I have been coming here for years. The regulars are many and friendly. The staff is like family (GOOD family). And the food is comforting and satisfying. CDS is easily the most convivial place on the Upper West Side. I enjoy every minute of it. Great outdoor seating right now, too--a bonus!

Very good café, with simple French cuisine and some local adaptation, like more spicy sauce or espadon sauce au poivre. Waiters are not French, but thet know enough to manage the menu, and understand the original pronunciation. The room is nice, feels like a French café indeed.

I was excited to try this place and really wanted to like it, but unfortunately it was a let down. The décor is very lively and the place looks great, but the food was bland and the service friendly but very slow. I had the moules frites - bland, and then the coq au vin, also bland. I wont be returning.

Nice outdoor dining set up! Friendly staff! You have to make reservations ahead of time! Oh, they also provide a complementary hot apple cider! Definitely recommend 😅

Worst experience ever. Over priced food. Service was horrible. Server kept forgetting our order requests. But he was very quick to bring the check. The hype is overrated for this place. I don’t recommend, go somewhere cheaper and get better food and service. The outdoor seating is nothing extraordinary, it just looks cute on pictures. Run! Run!

We dined at Cafe Du Soleil on a Friday evening. It seemed like the restaurant had more customers than they could handle. It took them 15 minutes to send someone to get our order. The drinks were served right away but the entrees arrived almost 45 mins after the order was placed. This would have been okay if the food was well prepared, but this was not the case -- the ratatouille was bland and watery and the tortellini wasnt anything to write home about. We also ordered the La Choucroute Garnie Alsacienne which was better than the others.With other (and much better!) French restaurants like Nice Matin in the area, its hard for us to motivate ourselves to give Du Soleil a second chance!

For brunch, its . . . fine. Standard offerings but nothing really stood out. They do make a good aperitif, though. Yurt seating on the sidewalk due to the pandemic restrictions.

Made a reservation for the outdoor bubble dining - but they tried to sit us at a regular table... The host had an attitude which was completely unacceptable. Who makes a reservation for anything other than your heavily advertised bubble dining? No one but apparently you think we do. Yikes. The waiter on the other hand was the only reason I gave this two stars, he was friendly and made ordering easy. The food however was very salty. The short ribs and potatoes had me drinking a whole glass of water. The soup with wild mushrooms wasnt even creamy. The avocado with crab and shrimp salad tasted good, but why do you leave the shells of the shrimp or crab in there? I wouldnt recommend. If you need to reserve a bubble, make sure you either have four people or just reserve the table for four, cause reserving for two will get you no bubble.

The bubbles were cute but the food was subpar and the waiter was horrible. I had to wait 20 minutes for a glass of water, they only gave us 3 glasses for our 4 person party. When we asked our waiter for a recommendation, he basically told us the most expensive items on the menu. Following his advice, we ordered the steak and I think it was the worst steak I have ever had. It was completely tasteless, even with the sauce. He forgot to put our appetizer order in and brought out our sides before putting in our main dish order. They also kept leaving the door of our bubble open, which I understand they did because their hands were full, but it left us cold and made our sides which they brought out early freezing by the time our food came. To their credit, they brought us fresh fries. The salads, French onion soup, and garlic fries were good.

They were overbooked - and so we had to wait over 25 minutes for our table. Once we got the table they said they’d need to rush us so we can finish by 10 pm. If you’re going to seat us nearly a half hr later and then rush us - you shouldn’t take reservations.Not to mention the food was not worth the money. At all.This place is not good. The only wonderful thing were the tents - they’re warm and should be the future of dining.

Had an absolutely wonderful dinner here in one of their outdoor bubbles. Food was delicious, well priced, and I felt extraordinarily safe. No chin strap masks or anything of the sort.

This is a great neighbor hood place - the food is always good especially their french bistro favorites. But I especially come for the warm friendly service. They have been doing a great job to create a good dining experience in spite of the pandemic

I had a really terrible meal. The steak had a huge streak of grissel running through the middle of it. A decent restaurant wouldnt have sold an entree like that. String beans, so soggy and limp and like a school cafeteria serving. I asked for a salad instead of fries but got fries. Overall, a huge disappointment and Ive eaten at this place many times. If you have low standards when it comes to food quality, give it a go. If you value the quality of the food you are served, stay away. I am.

Horrible customer service .Stephan the hostess was asked a simple question as to why we are waiting to be seated when we have a reservation.He then replied “do you want your reservation or not ? “ . That is not how you talk to customers. He then asked the same question again . I will never spend my money somewhere where people dont have the decency to talk properly to customers. Horrible . He then screamed how he is a Trump supporter and wants us out . 3 black women . I will be posting his picture

Not only am i a foodie but im a great cook i love all cuisine from Vietnamese to Pakistani and west African food, but ive inhabited many french places and the food could have been better and thats after ordering 150 dollars worth of food that you see in the photos. French cuisine is very elegant and should be cooked precise.

I totally recommend the filet mignon v juicy with saucy saucebtw the Coq Au Vin sauce is a little bit sweet if you don’t like that

The food took 1.5 hours to come from time we sat down. Then the food itself had small portions despite averaging $20 per entree. Wont recommend to anyone.

We sat inside since the bubble tables were reserved for 4 or more people during Saturday. Service was good. I had a burger with garlic fries and followed up with an apple tart. The tables inside were spaced out and ceiling fans circulating the air. That evening was cold so glad we had thr option to eat inside. Nice place overall

I had made a reservation last week to come enjoy a meal with my girlfriend for my birthday after seeing a news article on the space bubbles they have. I had specifically wrote through email that I would like to reserve a space bubble, as their social media postings had said we could do. The person who responded said that it would be no problem at all. I unfortunately made the commute to find out that you could not in fact reserve a space bubble that they so heavily advertise. They had seating available but not under the space bubbles I had hoped we would get. For something so advertised you would think that they would communicate exactly what you could reserve. Also the website had said they were doing Thursday night specials so we planned accordingly. We come to also find out that in little more of a week they had cancelled their specials too. At that point we decided to enjoy one of the other many restaurants in the area, as I suggest you do.

We went full cliché and ordered French Onion soup and Coq au vin. Food was delicious, service was great - socially distanced and always masked. Felt great to be in a restaurant again.

I ate here with two friends on a Tuesday evening. The outdoor seating is expansive, in front of adjacent businesses as well as the restaurant, and is very festive with multicolored umbrellas and banners. Social distancing was comfortable. The food was delicious, the service was attentive and not rushed. Ill definitely return.
