Inventive, casual, intimate, and undeniably chic. Estella epitomizes the best of New York dining. Make reservations for a celebratory evening or try to squeeze in at the bar.

The food is delicious, no doubt. It is pricy for fairly small portions. The restaurant is small and the space between tables is very tight, think have to pull the table out to sit on the booth, tight. We ordered a handful of dishes and they were all really good. We had a problem and Allison helped us and was extremely kind and responsive.I would go again, but with the goal of light bites, not a full dinner.

Food was just not impressive or special. Not sure what everyone else was having, but everything was mediocre. Squash blossoms with scallops were weird, can barely taste the scallops. Oysters were overpowered by the sauce. Beef tartare was ok. Lobster with woodear and grapes were just a weird combo and tastes weird together... Rice with squid was really crispy, but seemed to be missing another texture, but also minuscule pieces of squid. The duck took a really long time to come out and was just meh. Not sure why it was served with whole green onion stalks....maybe they intended to char them but failed.

We ordered almost everything on the menu. Some memorable and some not. A little too salty but still flavorful. The Endives and Walnuts are a must. The duck were cooked perfectly. Wine was delicious too.

The food served here is indeed five stars. The seating, however, isnt great; we are sandwiched in between two parties and literally 2 inches away from both of the tables. Nevertheless, I would still strongly recommend this place to anyone looking to be astonished by excellent food. Here is my rating for the dishes from the most recommend:1. Lobster with grapes and woodears. The charcoal-grilled scent on the lobster combines perfectly with the light sweetness of the grapes. The woodears are tender and flavorful, and you can taste in every bite the savory herbal broth its submerged in.2. Panna Cotta with honey and vinegar. The dessert, the panna cotta, is my second favorite of all. The sea salt, the vinegar, and the honey transitioned a simple panna cotta to five different flavors at once.3. Red snapper with tomato and ham broth. It’s delicious. The broth does not overpower the dish but compliments the freshness of these ingredients combined.

WOW. The food here is wonderful, and our server was absolutely lovely and attentive without being all over us. The scallop squash blossoms were unexpectedly the most incredible thing weve eaten in a long, long time, and the endive salad was also fabulous. Its definitely a splurge, but for a fancy, special night out, it was amazing.

To start off on a positive note... their cocktail was good! But thats the only compliment I have. The biggest problem of the night was the food. I have never eaten such salty food in my life. Every bite felt like a punch of salt to the point that I felt like I was just shoving seawater down my throat. I really tried to like this place, especially after so many people raved about it. Maybe the chef just got covid the night we went and could not taste the insane level of salt he/she put out that night.

The restaurant oenologist was there making suggestions. We opted for something from the cocktail list and we also decided to share four of the entrees. Make sure you try the black rice with squid and the crab and seaweed salad as a starter are real winners. You said of the bar and that made it very easy for us to communicate with the bartender who was really knowledgeable about all of the menu items

Estala is one of my fav places food wise, but please make something about your service, waiters are plain rude and incompetent (or dont care enough?) flagging things for dietary restrictions. 5/5 for food 1/5 service, makes it a 3 stars place. Wasn’t sure what to expect when looking at the menu but the four dishes we tried were all delicious. The burrata was amazing and we loved the crunch of the fried black rice with squid - it’s similar to a paella. The lamb was flavorful but also fatty. Wow.Went for: girlfriend’s dinner!Vibes: great for dinners of 2-4 people. 6 may get tough since most dishes come in fours. Intimate tables close together, dimly lit.Service: genuinely appreciated our servers knowledge of menu and dynamic recommendations based on what we were thinking.Food(in order of favorites):1) Dumplings - must order. Filling and extraordinarily flavorful.2) Mussels on toast - so pleasantly surprised. Wasn’t too fishy nor was the mussel flavor compromised. Toast had a perfect crunch.3) Beef Tartare - very unique! the sunchokes added a subtle yet welcomed crunch!4) Oysters - great and recommended. They’re already dressed with a migonettte and (I think) shallots. 6 to the order. Delicious.5) olives - don’t get me wrong, they’re great. But unfair to rank over other plates.6) Burrata - didn’t do it for me. The sauce it was soaked in didn’t mesh with the consistency of the cheese.Would go back for a special dinner or hosting an out of town couple.

I was recommended this place from a colleague living in NYC for ten years and taken to food blogging. The recommendation was a good one. Food was fantastic, service was refined. Pricing slightly high ~$100 per person including drinks. Star of the meal was the pork and yogurt/lemon sorbet for dessert. Main negative was that they only have one toilet for the entire restaurant, which led to a 10 min wait to use the facilities. Even more annoying is that the toilet is in a major thoroughfare with waiters pushing past you when you are waiting.

I dined yesterday night. The food was very good and the waiter nice and professional. However, we had a terrible experience with the lady host/general manager that ruined it all. We had dinner at 6.30pm and needed to leave the table at 8.30pm, she came to let us know the next party was waiting & told us with bad manners. We said we were leaving in 5 min the time to go to bathroom & get our coats. She kept pushing with lack of grace, so we told her was not our fault that the appetizers came very spaced out. She went defensive & talked down to us saying literally “you need to leave if you want to come back” “it is a privilege to dine here”. I said I should have reviewed my generous 20% tip. I am sorry but the privilege is given to me ny my credit card & a regular reservation made using Resy. The host (she) was rude and unprofessional, really intolerable that she is in the hospitable industry & cant address customers with grace. Zero starts if I could and of course we wont be coming back.
