Bu Halima’s tomb garden, also dating from the 16th century, stands abutting Isa Khan’s Tomb at the entrance zone of theHumayun’s Tomb complex. In the 1920’s portions of the enclosure wall were demolished to make a circular roadway thusdestroying the character of the enclosure as well as disfiguring the historic character of the site with vast quantities ofcement concrete.
This Gateway is the best gateway in the world I have ever seen....
The exact identity of Bu Halima is a mystery as not many details on her are present. This name seems foreign amidst a long list of popular historical Mughal names. But then it is there, as an unusual tomb, a garden and a gate located on the western side of the beautifully well maintained Humayun’s Tomb Complex as a rectangular enclosure which is usually ignored by tourists and visitors as they pass by to see the more famous Humayun’s tomb.
Magnificent gateway with stunning view to the big tomb. Almost always busy, but try to move a bit further to take good photo.
It is A Meausium Which Gives Knowledge About Humayu Tomb
A most beautiful well-landscaped rectangular enclosure and tomb as one enters Humayuns Tomb from the Mathura Road entranceThere is a lot of ambiguity about who Bu Halima was and why such a beautiful tomb and garden is constructed in her memoryBe as it may it is a beautiful piece of architecture, with well-manicured lawns and flowering plants and huge treesOne can see the remains of brightly coloured tiles many of which have been lost to time...
Entrance of humayun tomb, Two story gateway mad with red stone and white marble, Inside of gate there are many display. humayun complex replica and maps displaying here. old time stone and clay pots and toys you can see here,
Nothing is known of Bu Halima after whom the garden is namedand who apparently is buried on the ruined grave platform within, but it is undoubtedly an early Mughal tomb and the gateway tothe garden is a simple but beautiful one. Today it is also the mainentrance to Humayun’s Tomb, since in the nineteenth century thewestern wall of Bu Halima’s garden was breached to allow accessfor visitors. Today visitors usually go through Bu Halima’s gate inreverse, while entering the Tomb Complex. Bu Halima’s gate hasan imposing façade which is angled back on both sides and has arecessed arch in the centre. There are remains of some beautifuland intricate tilework in blue green and yellow.
This gate is a simple structure consisting of an oblong main gate-chamber with octagonal wings.
Bu Haleema is the entrance gate. Way to Humayuns tomb. Beautiful architecture.
This monument is located inside Humayuns Tomb complex and is the first white building which is seen after entering the complex from the western paid entrance. Little facts are know about the lady Bu-Halima on whose name the gateway and the garden are built. Well maintained, clean and green. Recommended for visit in the same trip as Humayuns Tomb and Hazrat Nizamuddin Auliyas Dargah.
Fine peice of mughal architecture
Great to see the past history though in dilapidated condition, but its still witnessing the past
