I was on a tour and asked the guide to take me to a shop that had *nice* local/cultural shopping options. He took me to Art India. I would recommend Art India to anyone traveling though Delhi looking for high quality Indian products. First i chatted with Semeer in the rug area. He was great and really helpful; eventually I settled on a beautiful silk rug from Kashmir (pictured). I also chatted with Rai upstairs at the sculptures and prints; I ended up getting two prints from him (attached). For both items they were open to some negotiation on the prices. I shared that I would need some time to think about the items, which I was able to do that night, the next morning. I emailed and said I was sold and asked if theyd deliver the items to him hotel by the airport, which they were and did. This was incredibly helpful and a great customer service. They packed up my 6x9 rub into a really handy suitcase type deal (pictured) which I was able to check without incident on my flight later that day.Im a little confused by the negative ratings. Yes, they salespeople there are trying to sell you stuff, but I didnt have any of the experiences others had and frankly am really happy with my purchases and the service I received. I will be be back for sure!

The place was somewhat intimidating, having been taken there against my will and located in the midst of a traffic gnarl. There are nice objects on offer but most appeared somewhat overpriced compared to shops elsewhere in the city/country. I got cheated buying a suit. I was shown a nice wool fabric and payed for it to be made into a suit. I had one fitting with a number of alterations to be made and the suit was delivered to my hotel. Unfortunately the suit is made of artificial material which I did not realize rushing to the airport. My colleagues from India confirm that I Overpayed just under three times the usual cost...

Yes! its a scam. everyone who is showing his thoughtfulness to you is scam with very high possibility. Rickshaw riders, even guys who claim himself as a college student, college professor, or working in some organizations and show you badge, always recommend you go here. I was recommended to go here by a college professor (who claim himself), and he called a rickshaw rider on the road, told the rider to take me there. Its really a bad experience in India.

Our rickshaw driver insisted that we go here. We really didnt want to buy anything but ended up here anyway. It was a little intimidating being taken around the whole shop. Felt a bit pressured to buy something. It rickshaw driver was not happy we didnt buy anything. Most have worked on tips. If your driver suggests coming here, Id suggest to avoid.

Scam. Starting price for a high quality pashmina was 500$; last proposal from the shop before I left was 150$.

I was hoping to go for a run in a famous park but it started raining so I got in a rickshaw with a guy who claimed to recognize me since he works at the hotel where I was staying (rickshaw his 2nd job).Eventually he took me to Art India, even though I told him on the way that I dont want to go there and please take me back to the hotel. At the gallery, I met two other tourists who got there the same way that I did (against their will). Like Pulp Fiction. There were like 20 guys there in the store and none of them seemed to notice or care that we were being treated like hostages. Me and the other two tourists left Art India on foot in the rain with my rickshaw driver chasing us down, and got into a cab and left. And by the way, their stuff was overpriced and not very nice. I travel a lot, but this was about the most Ive ever been targeted and abused as a tourist.

A souvenir shop connected to taxi drivers and auto rickshaw drivers. A system that allows you to get a petrol fee when you bring a customer.
