Purposeful and a brilliant example of the majesty of the Indian Judicial system. It is always safer to stay away from courts as the procedure takes a toll on almost everyone but if your need is to be fulfilled from Delhi High Court your experience is going to be pleasant than most other court visits. The infrastructure leaves most visitors spellbound as it is top notch, it instills confidence in the minds of the parties that their case is in the right hands at the right place. The aura and environment of the place demands respect from each individual and is a gentle reminder that no one is above the law.

Pl dont follow the last leg on Dr Sunanda Bhandare Marg, as takes you to Gate No.1 of Delhi High Court, which is open only for VIPs. For all commoners the gates to used are Gate Nos. 7 and 9, which are on the opposite side of the Court Premises. So, coming from India Gate on to Shershah road, pl skip right turn on to SB road but go a little further and then take the right turn (on the road which takes you to Zakir Hussain Marg. Now all the gates like 6,7, 8 and 9 will fall to your right. Caution: this road is a bit narrow, but no big issue as two cars can easily cross.

Delhi High Court is one of the most popular high Courts Of India (After Bombay & Kerala). It has more than 50 court rooms. Infrastructure is top notch. Newly constructed building of Delhi high court is just outstanding. There is huge cafeteria inside court premises. There is enough space for litigants & advocates to sit in premises. Security is great. You need to have advocate ID to enter the court. Although advocate gown is not complusary to sit in court rooms unlike Supreme Court Of India. There is Advocate bus stand just outside court. Delhi High Court is at a walking distance from Patiala House Court & Family Court. It is around 10 min from Supreme Court Of India. Chief Justice Of Delhi High Court sits in Court Room Number 1. Both new building and old building are interconnected via long corridor. There is lift facility in both buildings. There are escalators in New building. Also, In new building, court rooms have transparent wall of glass so one can easily have glimpse of live court proceedings without even actually sitting in court room. There are huge indicators outside court rooms indicating matter numbers. Cleanliness is very good. Toilets at each floor. There is huge library for advocates in court. Thanks!

This jurisdiction lasted till 1947 when India was partitioned. The High Courts (Punjab) Order, 1947 established a new High Court for the province of East Punjab with effect from 15 August 1947.[2] The India (Adaptation of Existing Indian Laws) Order, 1947 provided that any reference in an existing Indian law to the High Court of Judicature at Lahore be replaced by a reference to the High Court of East Punjab.[1]The High Court of East Punjab started functioning from Shimla in a building called Peterhoff. This building burnt down in January, 1981.[citation needed]When the Secretariat of the Punjab Government shifted to Chandigarh in 1954-55, the High Court also shifted to Chandigarh. The High Court of Punjab, as it later came to be called, exercised jurisdiction over Delhi through a Circuit Bench which dealt with the cases pertaining to the Union Territory of Delhi and the Delhi Administration.[1]In view of the importance of Delhi, its population and other considerations, the Indian Parliament, by enacting the Delhi High Court Act, 1966, established the High Court of Delhi effective from 31 October 1966.[1]By virtue of Section 3(1) of the Delhi High Court Act, the Central Government was empowered to appoint a date by a notification in the official gazette, establishing a High Court for the Union Territory of Delhi. The appointed date was 31 October 1966.

Huge traffic congestion becoz of stubborn lawyers. They park their vehicles on road and not in the automated parking area and you dare not mess with them. They will thrash you then and there. Even the traffic constables can be seen standing helpless. Complaints to the administration of high court against this illegal parking is also of no use. Pathetic situation. Dont use personal vehicles for going to this place.
