Lord Krishna came to Ujjains Guru Sandipanis ashram to learn, everyone knows this. Here he befriended a poor Brahmin named Sudama. According to Shrimad Bhagwat, one day Guru Mata sent Sri Krishna and Sudama to bring wood. On returning to the ashram, heavy rains started and Sri Krishna-Sudama stopped and rested at one place. It is believed that Narayan Dham is the place where Shri Krishna and Sudama stayed to avoid the rain.
