The best Indian restaurant in Chicago!!!Generous amounts and amazing flavor, and of course you can’t beat buy one get one biryani on Wednesday’s. I have been coming here for years and never had anything less than a 10/10.Customer service is outstanding as well!Love this and we’ll keep coming for years.
Just visited this place on a weekend after a long week of work with another horrible experience. I ordered three entrees and twelve piece of bread at 7:10 and they served me one entree and 12 breads at 7:55 after a after 45 minute break, they expect me to divide one entree with 12 breads between 5 people after this long of a wait. The bread was like some frisbee where you need to break them with two hands. The most shocking part was I asked for salt and pepper to the server and the response I got was We are out of salt and pepper this was the most shocking part.P.S. The taste of the entrees where amazing but the service was horrible and not worth waiting for the quality.
Ordered chicken biryani, food was served hot. I loved it. I’m giving 5 rating considering service and taste of the food.
Excuse the messy bowls but I was too hungry at lunch time!Spice level was perfect me and my wife: ordered samosa Chaat (Hyderabadi style because yougurt was not added), spicy egg fried noodles, Apollo fish, and aaloo paratha. All were to our liking.Definitely going back for dosa, biryani and other South Indian dishes.
Loved loved loved the food! The service was very good even though they were short staffed. We ordered appetizers, and various different dishes and they were all amazing! Highly recommend!
Food was amazing and this is one of the best Indian restaurants in Chicago’s northwest suburbs
This place started out well, but recently it’s been very disappointing. A bit unhygienic if you want me to be honest. This place has an offer of buy1 and get another biryani free on Wednesday, but recently on Wednesday’s the food is horrible. It’s either masqueraded with lot of salt to hide the staleness or the food literally gets stale in the matter of hours. The taste has drastically reduced as well. If you do have to try definitely try on a weekend, May be the food is more fresh then
Hands down the best Indian food in the area . I usually come here once a week and order enough to take home and it rarely makes it till the morning. Lol great food and delightful people who work here .
The food we did have was great. 2 appetizers after an hour and a half wait. We were never told an ETA or that there would be a wait when we sat down. Waitresses did keep our water filled. Still no estimate for entrees so we left.
We have had good experiences carrying out - but yesterday, the food I carried out was super greasy (with the smell of old oil). Of the three dishes we ordered, only one was okay - the other two (chicken 65 etc.) were un-edible. Naan looked like it came out of a freezer bag.
Excellent! Truly enjoyed this restaurant. The meal was delicious with beautiful presentation and I felt honored to try Goa Feni for the first time! A true spirit of hospitality.
Me and my family have come here three times in the past two months. The first time was for my sisters birthday and we didn’t order much and arrived at a decent time. One lady told us we could order more naan later so we didn’t get too much at once without seeing the amount of food. When the food arrived the waitress had her thumbs in the food with the way she carried it by hand and not on a tray. When we asked for more naan they said we couldn’t and looked annoyed but did it anyway. And no one wore a mask even though the sign said to in the kitchen. No gloves and no safety precautions and the tables were stained with food and not cleaned properly. I didn’t mind ALL of that as the food was really really good considering everything. The next time we decided to order it to go so no one but the cooks would touch the food but they were half an hour late with no safety precautions still and they took down the mask sign. Still okay and didn’t want to complain, the food was still very good except they didn’t have one food and had to substitute it and wouldn’t give us anything unless the price matched even though it was their fault they didn’t have the food. Third time today we decided to order and that is the last time I will come here. They didn’t have food so I said they could substitute it but I didn’t want onions and that was an easy request. Just don’t add it. We arrive and the food is not ready. Then another waitress asks us and goes back and it’s not ready. Then another asks and goes back to tell us they just started and it will be out… it’s been over an hour at this point. They then ask us if we still want the food because they couldn’t remove the onions… they just forgot and didn’t want to make it again. We decide to take the TWO items we had anyway and just leave. It was terrible service and at one point in the half hour we actually stayed in the building we saw one waitress cough into food (I’m sure not on purpose) but I would not recommend this place if you are worried about your health and time. If you just want good food and a waste of time then this is the place for you.
Food tasted so yummy!!Authentic Indian style, Indian music playing in the background is completely refreshing!Waiters were very patient Even at the closing time of the day!Good to go place to have a relaxing meal!
Serving size is too small, I was surprised to see only five pieces of chicken in the order of butter chicken for $12.99waiters can be more professional. Sofas were torn. restaurant needs upgrades. Need to look at it through customer’s eyes. DOSA WAS VERY TASTY 😋.
Wonderful food, perfect spice levels. Great service! Understaffed but still took us in without reservation. Highly recommend. 😁
I am having a very awful experience with this restaurant. I ordered for delivery and it was supposed to be delivered at 7:36pm. They called to notify me that two of the orders are not available. I politely changed it. It is more than hour and half and the food is yet to be delivered. I kept on calling no one responded for 10 mins and then when someone responded he callously said what can we do we are unusually busy. They did not even care to inform the customer that they are running late. And he was very adamant about the whole thing instead of being apologetic. This is very very unprofessional
Delicious food ! Made with a lot of care, the chutneys are out of this world good. Ordered the tandoori platter and every single item on it was succulent. The naan alone is making this visit worth it ! Lovely experience, would come back !
Best place for Indian food lovers in Chicago. Nice ambience, friendly staff and Good food. Must Visit !
Absolutely great tasting Indian food. Very consistent over the years. Hospitality is worth mentioning, always cordial and courteous. Nice ambience too, if dining in. Don’t go too far for tasty Indian food and don’t miss this place.
Really tasty, well-made food. The sauces and sambar are all great. Friendly, helpful staff. Simple modern decor.
Great food, definitely worth it. Loved the Paneer Tikka Masala, great Naan as well.
Worst experience. They just let you wait for hours and hours, they wont even tell you a proper estimate for how long the order would take. Not recommended at all. I wish I could give less that 1 star.Update:Most importantly they made the worst veg biryani I ever ate. I have known later that, it was a BOGO biryani day. I assume they just reduced the dish quality because of this offer. Which is insane! Whats the point of the offer even.
Great food, amazing customer serviceMy grandpa, brother and I went here and had an amazing meal, the waiter was very patient and checked on us often. The appetizers were amazing and they refilled our waters throughout the meal. They even asked how spicy we wanted our meals to be. Definitely reccomend!
Customer service was great at this location. They are courteous and food was served in timely manner. Food was tasty and I love their Manchurians!!
Me and my husband were on a date night and the experience was amazing even if they were swamped with lot of customers .Good food, good Indian whiskey, beer and other spirits , excellent service by Aditya and Ashwin. We definitely recommend Deccan spice .
I go this place today and the food is so delicious and service was good…
Best Indian restaurant ! This is my first review ever, so this is a big deal. I visited this place with few friends after reading all the mixed reviews..good and bad. Our server/owner was a very kind lady. Super impressed with the way she was taking care of all the tables personally. To begin with, service was excellent even though they were short staffed. Owner lady told us as soon we were seated. Regarding the food, We ordered paneer tikka masala, baby corn Manchurian, Andhra chili chicken, goat biryani and few other dishes ( can’t recall the names). Everything was super delicious and presented very nicely. My chicken curry was flavorful and tender. The flavor of every dish is unique which I still remember after two days. Naan was the best till date. On the top of enjoyable experience, goat biryani stole my hearts. This will be my go to place from now. Thank you Deccan spice for such a wonderful experience.
I always comee here for the spicy chicken bbq.
I would give a zero if possible. This is the first time with this restaurant. Ordered through grub hub. After an hour of trying to contact the restaurant and when it is time for the delivery i called them up again and they say they dont have two of the items and asked for replacement. Again in another 10 mins i got an email saying my order is cancelled. Wow what an amazing customer service and this is pure negligence And they say they are busy. No proper communication and this is one of the worst restaurant. For me food quality and taste is secondary when they dont even respect their customers and their time. Stay away.
5 start for food... Ambience they must improve...washrooms are not Clean,Small dine in area, staffs are not friendly at all....if waiter are not ready to take plates or give water, they should convert this place as self serviced
Went to this place yesterday. First of all the whole restaurant needs renovation. The bathroom was bad. The people they hired in the front were horrible, they can not greet and serve properly. How can a restaurant run with bad workers? The table that they placed us was dirty and dusty. The restaurant name is Deccan. There is a Deccan spice in Edison, New Jersey. The ambience and service is amazing. Now coming to food..we ordered mutton , Deccan biryani, vegetable biryani and baby corn, prawn gravy( there was no prawns it was shrimp inside them). The vegetable biryani was not good or tasty. The mutton was spicy and tasty. The Deccan biryani and veg biryani looked the same. The gravy that they served on the side was good but they did not take time to cook it. Very disappointed with the whole set up in Deccan. I was hoping in chicago it would be more amazing then New Jersey. I was wrong to think like that.
We always had great experience ordering food from this place !! Good quality and tasty food .
Food was really good! They noticed that’d it was a tad bit spicy for me and were accommodating. Good service!
Food is good. Site needs to be updated tho. Says that there is a daily buffet. Went in on a Wednesday for the buffet and was informed that it is only on the weekends. I informed my waitress that it says daily and the info listed in google should be updated. She stated she would however it has not been updated. During this same visit another person came in lookin for the daily buffet.
By far. The best Indian food in the Naperville area. Every single dish was well prepared and fully flavored.
I ordered through Uber Eats & this place was great! The food was excellent!👍 Only thing was portions sizes are small.
Great butter chicken for a pregnant women’s craving. 👍
I’ve lived in Chicago for 9 years now and have rued the lack of authentic Indian food. Deccan Spice has ended my search! We had the Afghan kebab for starters, the Charminar murgh and Jaipuri kofta for mains and bread basket. Each dish was mouth watering and reminded me of India. Totally unlike any other Indian restaurant in Devon or Schaumburg. This appears to be the real deal, will be back for more.
Love the weekend hours, thank you for being open after 11pm. Nice and simple menu for late night meals with decent prices. Ordered the chilli shrimp and samosas for appetizers and they were fresh and delicious. The 2 chicken dishes had a lot of chicken fat in it and a few good tender pieces, overall missing some flavor. Service was interesting.
We ordered Rajasthani Lal maas(highly recommended) with Tandoori roti, Chicken homestyle curry, both these curries came with a portion of rice. I also ordered a portion of chicken dum biryani to-go(I love my biryani the next day) will update about biryani later but both dishes I had at the restaurant were good quality and delicious. The staff were courteous. The owner was mostly managing the kitchen and online orders but took time to visit the table and check if we were okay.
We ordered Andhra Chilli Chicken(Appetizer), Telegana Gosht, Biryani, Naan, Hakka Noodles and Aalu Paratha...everything was delicious except for the Biryani. Their service was great and they got the orders out pretty quickly. The only problem I had was with the bathroom and that entire area surrounding the bathroom. Its disgusting and they really need to renovate it.
I am reviewing this as 1 star based on the cleanliness of this place specially during this pandemic. I was there last night for my moms birthday dinner and when we went in there was only one table where people were dining in so my mom felt a bit comfortable that it wasnt crowded. Even though we are fully vaccinated we still get paranoid because we know a couple of people who still got covid and one of them passed away even after receiving 2 doses. Anyway, we go in there and I asked the server if they sanitize/clean the tables and chairs and she said with an attitude Ofcourse. So then as we were about to sit down we saw little crumbs on the seat and the table cloth was dirty probably stained from some curry or something. Then there was this kitchen area where outside the door there was a sign saying no entry without wearing a mask still the server and the cook were going in and out of the kitchen without a mask on. When I went to use to bathroom which was right by the kitchen, I heard someone sneeze and cough in the kitchen. Then as I came back and sat down the other people dining in left. After they left, all the server did was change the paper that was over the table cloth and thats it! No cleaning no sanitizing nothing. So OFCOURSE they dont sanitize the seating area after someone leaves. If someone comes to me from the restaurant to defend this I will have them check the cameras first and check each and every thing I mentioned here. Even though the food was good I am definitely not going back there again neither I will order any carryouts and I will for sure tell all my other friends and relatives.
Loosing the authentic taste of Biriyani by adding too much spice. My favorite dish at this restaurant was biriyani. I thought to write a review to inform the chef team that now a days we noticed the authentic taste of Biriyani is getting destroyed by adding too much spice into it. We usually order medium level spice but from the past few recent buys made us to stop ordering this dish as its too hot and we were unable to have it. We could taste just the chilli spice highlighted. This even triggers gastro issues. Now after 4 weeks we ordered another biriyani with mild spice for the first time and the fact is its too spicy again. I am not sure why we even have that option to select the spice level if all three levels are served the same.Really appreciate if this review can help bring back that authentic taste of Biriyani.
Manager, Anthony was very rude when we walked in the restaurant. We decided to dine inside but he straight up refused us and told us to leave. There’s no point in going to a restaurant where you don’t get service with a smile and where you are not welcomed.
Ive been a regular customer of this place for a while now. Food is excellent. You can get the really spicy food if you want which is great since most other restaurants mellow it down. Excellent service as well and one of the few restaurant where Old Monk Rum is an alcohol option if you do decide to dine in and have a drink. Very nice ambience and courteous staff. Would highly recommend.
Delicious food! One thing to note...they are busy during the weekend so try to be there 1 hour before closing time.
Excellent food. I ordered Kadai paneer and it was very tasty. I was visiting Naperville, IL for work and I will visit this place again with my family. Good luck to the owner.
We tried Cut mirchi Bujji, Andhra Chili Chicken, Tomato Shorba, Telangana Goat curry, Garlic naan, Butter naan, Special Chicken biryani and Falooda. Portions were generous, reasonable prices, tastiest food. Our favorites were Chili chicken and Goat curry that reminded us of food back home. Added Praveen, Prakash and Anthony were very welcoming. One of the best Indian restaurant I’ve been to.
Starters were good. Wednesday special biryani is worth the money
Regular visitor to this restaurant and get best food.
Biriyani is taste good... loved it..
One of the worst restaurants..food is too spicy..if you guys don’t wanna put buy 1 get 1 offer please don’t..charge extra money but please maintain quality of food..I clearly told the receptionist, last time food was too spicy and please make sure it’s mild this time..but it’s very spicy and can’t able to eat..please do not go to this restaurant
The best biryani always. They dont change the taste or the size of the portion. We are addicted now. Please do not change the quality of your food. We do enjoy the food every time.
Food was delicious and service was very good
I ordered vegetable biryani but I got potato 🥔 biryani.Which means that vegetable biryani contains almost 15-20 potato pieces and some rice
Awesome food. Nizami Lamb Chops, Jaipuri Malai Kofta, Manchow Soup were delicious. All other food were really tasty. Pretty reasonably priced. Will go again.
This place has amazing food and service. The food is so fresh and the staff is super knowledgeable and informative. If you like Indian food you will love this place!
Chicken Manchuria were heaven in taste.
Excellent food I have ordered lamb, daal, palak paneer and malai kofta. Always hits the spot and being from US not into too much spice and these guys always make sure that even my 3 year olds enjoys the food.Trust me if you love spicy or non spicy Indian food give this place a try and you won’t regret it.My favorite is palak paneer( non spicy)with plain parantha or butter chicken with lachha paranta. Thanks guys
They put just the right amount of spices. My favorite are Biriyanis, lamb dishes and monchow soup.
This place is fabulous! My Indian friends love this place and go out of our way to eat here when we can. Highly recommend.
Their buy one get one Biryani on wednesdy has become a scam now. instead of briyani they are giving white rice with some peaces of meat in it. Customer service is bad: they missed raita and curry in my briyani and one pack of briyani which i went for pickup driving for 1 hour. when i call the restaurant to explain that south indian guy is saying to come back and get missing briyani. like what do i need to come again for one hour ? disgusting
One the best Indian restaurant with the perfect, authentic Indian flavors. I have never tasted such distinctive flavors in different dishes in any Indian restaurant around in Naperville. The desserts was completely out of world, it reminded me of grandmom who was the best in gulab jamun and gajjar ka halwa.Service was impeccable and could not ask for more.
Exceptionally good food and great service. Will definitely come back
I ordered mutton biryani for 15 people and was charged $120.00 for a special occasion. Food wasn’t even enough for 4 Adults. Very disappointed with the customer service. I wouldn’t recommend this place for anyone planning their special occasions. By the way this happened twice.
One of the best Indian restaurants near Chicago. I am from Canada and have been to this place once only. But the food is awesome and great. Everyone working is very professional and supportive of your request. Food is well prepared, evenly hot and good portion size.if given a chance would love to come back and have meals again.
Good food and quality!
Chicken Tikka Masala was good. Biryani rice was too dry and needs improvement.
Observed many patrons eschewing COVID precautions. The hostess not only didnt handle it, but was often also lax about this as well. If theyre willing to forego safety measures during a pandemic, will they observe them when it comes to food handling and other issues? Not going back.
Very good south indian, particularly Hyderabad/Telangana/Andhra cuisine food. They are now open for dine in (Jan 21). If you like spicy and delicious food, this is the place to be. We tried mutton Rogan Josh and achari chicken, both were fantastic!
I had ordered Hyderabadi bone in chicken curry - curry was excellent, but chicken was way overcooked - actually it was left over tandoori chicken and that is why only 2 stars
Some of the best indian food around
I visited this restaurant for a dinner on a snow storm weekday. Amibience is ok. The menu has some unique and good items. I ordered Liver fry, Hot & sour soup, kothu parota and Deccan special Biriyani.Hot & sour Veggie soup was good and I would recommend itLiver fry was not that great. The masala that comes with liver fry was great but the liver pieces were a big let down . The liver was very hard as it was either over cooked or precooked and frozen long before. I was very much disappointed with this dish.Kothu parota was not a authentic kothu parota preparation style but I liked the taste and texture of it.Deccan special biriyani was not that greatwould visit again to try few other items.Service was really good and waiter was mot pushy even though it was close to their shutdown time.
Picked up delivery so cant comment about the dining in. Ordered a goat curry and naan which were pretty delicious. They messed up my naan order but when I called back they were more than happy to comp me on my next order. Will definitely order again
Food was so appetizing. The staff was very helpful and observant. Prices are decent for the quality.
DO NOT DINE IN HERE if Jennifer is working. We have been coming here for a long time, but today, we had Jennifer as our waitress and she was SO RUDE! I have never experienced something so rude in my life. Jennifer was very impatient and was saying bad things about me and my family under her breath. I would suggest to only take out because the service while dining in is terrible! Also, during COVID, Jennifer was not wearing gloves, she severed our beer and food with no gloves. Do not dine in!
If you want a great takeout chicken tikka masala, biryani and naan - look no further. Writing this as I eat the leftovers, and man is it good. Highly recommended!
I like this restaurant! They offer first-rate dishes, their menu is decent, The chief cook in that restaurant is a real authority in the kitchen, I love very much tasting all their food. The dishes are consistently fresh and tasty, the attitude towards the visitors is good. I go often to this place and I not even once was unhappy. I recommend it to all my friends.
This place was super awesome. The food was very good and flavorful. Staff was very nice and attentive. The place was very clean and the ambience was great. Thank you for a great experience. We will be returning.
Biryani and Curries taste great
Delicious Indian food. The buffet is awesome.
Hands down best Indian food in the area! We travel 35 minutes to come here for every birthday, fathers day, mothers day, etc. Everyone (including our 3 kids under 10) absolutely love the food. Prices are very reasonable and portions will feed you 2-3x. Cant say enough good things about this restaurant!
Absolutely love this place. Fairly quick service, pretty nice atmosphere, and a large variety of food on the menu to try. They have pretty good lunch and dinner options. I believe during lunch is a buffet style, so definitely worth a try if you would like to try out multiple dishes.
