Kandhar fort is the very old and and big in area Kandhar is a town and a municipal council in Nanded district in the Indian state of Maharashtra. It lies near the western shore of Manyad Reservoir. Kandhar was famous as a major Jain centre in the Rashtrakuta kingdom, having Malkhed or Manyakheta as his capital. A huge statue of Kshetrapala (deity related to Jains) is found near the bhuikot; the statue is broken but from the toenail that survives, its height is estimated to be more than 50 feet. Presently, there is an old Digambar Jain Temple in Kandhar which is awaiting for its renovation.
Nice placeSuper location for fully relaxing
This fort is a very nice fort made of stone
A place with a lot of history, it is getting the attention from authorities it needs. The restoration work is going on in certain sections of the fort and needs to be appreciated, yet a lot remains to be done. Some information boards are legible, others not so much and some are absolutely washed out. There are some ruins that have been kept for display (have attached the photos).
Good place I have my own experience feel good and enjoy khandar fort
Kandhar fort is 2 km long from city. Location given on Google map is accurate. Parking space is available for two wheeler in the gate and four wheeler vehicle you have to park outside gate. There is no charges for parking your vehicle. Please take water bottle with you as in fort area food and water is not available.Fort is not well maintained. Some Restoration work is running around here.Entry fees is not fixed, you have to pay as your wish.
It is well structured fort . Govt should modify and has to change as best tourist place.
Kila found closed on 12.10.21
In poor condition, no care, closed for no reason, local boys indulging in hookah smoking & tobaco stuff at the entrance, no one to stop them. Beautiful place if maintained properly, local administration needs to focus on reinventing the fort

Kandhar Fort or Kandhar Khilla is a fort located in Kandhar, Nanded district in the state of Maharashtra, India. Its construction attributed to the Rashtrakuta King Krishna III of Malkhed.
Surrounded by hills, the town of Kandhar in Nanded district of Maharashtra is of historic antiquity, full of archaic remains of Hindu and Muslim monuments as well as sculptures of the Hindu, Buddhist and Jain religions, dating back to the Rashtrakuta dynasty. The oldest surviving structure in the fort is a stepwell from the Yadava period (9th to 14th centuries CE). Thanks to its layered existence, the main gate of the fort has a Persian inscription from Muhammad bin Tughlaq (r. 1325 – 1351). Local villagers and archaeologists found bits and pieces of sculptures here. Among these fragments were parts of a giant statue of a man that once stood 60 feet high.
Its awesome place!
MY favourite place
One of the best tourist place of nanded. The architecture is very historic and old. Peaceful environment, which makes our visit satisfying...
The historical land fort is having strong fortification, bastions, ditch, gates, cannon and lots of monuments. The fort was built by King Krishna 3 of Malkhed. Fort has two arches in trademark Ahmednagar style. Kandhar was popular as a major Jain Center in Rashtrakuta times. A colossal statue of Kshetrapala (god identified with jains) is found close to the fort. Old Digambar Jain Temple in Kandhar town.
Well maintained fort, renovation is done recently
This place is not that bad to visit but i recomment that you should visit just to have some time with someone or with friends. Nothing much left here but renovation work was going on here. Visit on your risk.

Must visit place when you are in Nanded it’s 2 hours away from Nanded. The roads get very small once you reach close to the fort as there are houses on both side and it gets difficult for two cars to cross each other. But a well maintained fort must visit atleast once when in Nanded.
Wonderful fort... Will need a few hours tonslowwalk through and cover...
Its one of the amazing fort in nanded district, there we can see three religious footprint on fort .Hindu Muslim and Jain, lot of construction is going on ,some time guard not allow to enter in the fort to the girls, its better to go with family.there might be problem of security for women SO be prepare for that.It Is nearly 1km square in area ,In rainy seasons there is huge water flow through the fort .
Simply amazing! Good fort if they maintained more! Very much to explore there
Exceptionally well maintained fort and still in quite good condition. Built over 18 acre land. This well fortified Fort had multiple wells, many silos for food grain and could house thousands inside. Believably built in 13th century, changed hands and got renovated and modified through centuries. Worth the visit.
