This zoo is very near from Nainital lake but at high altitude. For that, cab services are provided for both side. Ticket you will get at the base only. After reaching at the height some stiff climb is there to reach to the zoo main gate. Many mountain based birds and animals you will find here. Restaurant is also there when you exit. Zoo is clean and well maintained. Must visit.

Awesome place. As the name says its really situated at high altitude. Gather all your stamina to visit this zoo but worth visiting. Neat and clean campus well maintained throughout. You cannot take your own vehicle here so either you have to walk (climb) 1.5 km (wont recommend at all) from the mall road, or you can take a shuttle (Rs 60) that would take you up there and bring you back to the mall road ( recommended). Here are some beautiful snaps taken during my visit.

This place is huge and most of the animals are very well maintained. The main attraction here are their majestic Bengal tigers, cheetahs and leopards. The entry fee is ₹50 per person. There are regular shuttles available for people from the market area (opposite Evelyn Hotel) from where you also have to purchase the shuttle ticket which is for ₹59 per person. Its a pick-up and drop service at the same point. One can even walk it out as it is just a 1.3 kms walk from the starting point of the lake. It is uphill, so it takes about 15-25 minutes if you keep walking continuously until you reach the zoo and it is a straight road too!Beware of the monkeys once you enter the premises of the zoo. There are not many, but one should still be cautious. The zoo opens at 10 am and closes at 4:30 pm. Make sure you go in the morning and watch the animals before it gets crowded, leading them to go back inside their dens in their respective enclosures.Overall, visiting this zoo was a great experience.

I loved this zoo, it was clean and green. It wasn’t that big and the no. of animals were less too, though it was amazing. It is located on a very high altitude. Such an amazing place to enjoy quality time with your family. It will take one or two hour to explore completely and directly proportional to your strength and stamina. Better to take a taxi that costs only 40 rupees for both side. I would suggest not to go with aged or physically disabled people.

One of the best zoo you will visit in town. Situated at high altitude. Two ways to reach one by stairs and other way by which you can reach by your own car. I would say do not take stairs as they are very tough. The zoo experience is very good, with loads of wildlife and extinct species. There are arrow marking for the guided way to reach every animal one by one. There is 100 rs charge for adult and 50 for children. Must visit place with children specially.

This zoo has some of the rare animals. Its fun to visit there. But keep in mind, as the name says, this zoo is really at high Altitude. One has to be quite fit in order to enjoy there, else youll get tired just on reaching the main entrance. Even the distance between 2 different animals is at height. Ticket price of the zoo is ₹100. The journey starts from Hotel India at Mall Road. Youll have to take a Shuttle in order to get there. The Shuttle charges are separate from zoo. It is ₹60 for both sides.

If you are having a plan for Nainital, then you must go to Zoo. Because here you will see all the animals. Like lion, Tiger, leopard, bear, red panda, wolf, deer and bird etc. If you are an average person, you can walk on the road from Mal Road, there is a 20-minute walk from the bottom. But if you do not like to walk more then so you can also take a cab or own car. Zoo is very big, You will enjoy a lot here and the point of view from the top will also be very good.Enjoy...

It is a steep 2 km trek from the mall road to reach the the zoo. An alternative is the taxi service for which you would have to wait for a long time in peak season i.e. May-June-July. Then you will have to trek for animal gazing. Its a good zoo for people who love trekking. While trekking you get to see some amazing animals. The first one youd see is a tiger! And leopards! A trek of some more distance youd see a Himalayan black bear. The best thing in this zoo is the bird section. A lots of lively birds, some youd only find in the Himalayas! However, there are some more animals to see, one of which I saw for the first time in my life: Markhor, national animal of Pakistan which have horns like spiral pasta, lol. Another heart-winning thing was the Red Panda! There are 2 of them in separate spaces and they are really adorable. Some more unique animals make the long trek worth it! There is also a small info centre in the start of the zoo which caters some cool information about Earth.

This was an amazing place to be with family and friends. The best part was the walking upwards for the next sightseeing of the animal.People found this concept crazy to build a zoo on a slanted mountain. But its really good if you love to walk. The views from the above are just marvelous.I went there with my family, some people were tired after walking some steps but i was not one of then.I kept on with some of the people and enjoyed at the zoo to the fullest.First we have to book a car or we can go up with a bike or by walking towards the zoo.No private vehicles are allowed on the way towards the zoo.Inside the zoo we have to explore while walking. You should carry a water bottle as purifiers are installed on some spots.I had an amazing experience at this place. We saw the tiger staring at us😨.The animals were very active. They were not sleepy like other zoological park animals.

Do not waste your money by using taxi or any other service. Use Rented two wheeler, it will cost 600-800 rs. For 6 hours. It was a memorable experience. As the name says the zoo is very high up in Nainital but worth a visit especially if you have young kids with you. Your private car/taxi isnt allowed to take you upto the zoo so there is a shuttle which is available near India hotel in Mall road to take you upto the zoo which is not more than a 10 minute drive. There is an entry ticket you need to buy at the zoos entrance. The zoo is very well maintained and the animals look healthy and well taken care of.- Entrance situated at the end of Mall road (Main high street of Nainital City)Commute:- One can walk uphill of 2 kms for main entrance- One can hire an auto running exclusively on the Zoo route (Inexpensive)Zoo:- Surprisingly I found it to be at par of any mini zoo Internationally- Very neat and clean- Ticket system also pretty organised- Wide variety of animals, birds and other elements one finds in a zoo- Seems the authorities take good care of the wild life as were healthy beings- Merchandise availability to take back souvenirs- Lots of vantage points for a good click and memoriesMinuses- Be ready to trek up hill inside the zoo as well as its a hilly terrain- No good Eateries (But on Mall road ample of options available at 2 kms)Happy journey!

Zoo with a variety of animals. Some of the cages are empty due to shortage of animals. But still there are plenty of animals. You will really enjoy the time spent here while viewing fauna. Beware of monkeys while going to zoo. They might snatch your articles and put you in trouble. For reaching the zoo you must have a private vehicle or you can share a cab that is available near the rickshaw stand. Slope is very high so it is a bit difficult to reach by walking. There are animals like tiger, leopard, lion, pigeon, and a variety of parrots.Even the red panda are also there which keeps on hanging in bamboo branches you have to be careful for watching them otherwise you might pass them without even noticing them. When you enter the zoo just follow the marks made on the road and you will pass through the whole zoo without missing anything. If you will not follow the road signs then you might miss some of the animals. Even there are waterpurifiers installed at mutliple places so you dont have to worry about it. Carrying eatable items inside the zoo is not allowed as there are chance of people giving those eatable to animals or throwing the wrappers here and there. Making the zoo dirty.
