I want to say even though it is small circle, it is very busiest place. My request is that public should park their vehicles at road side. Thereby it is free to walk and purchase the fruits. The shop owners situated at devaraja market building occupied the foot path also except book stalls. But the public must be very careful from pick pockets.Police are busy by maintaining traffic. We cant blame them. 0nly corporation authority made some changes.

Open space near the city central market. Stone benches are there around for people to sit. Place was crowded couldnt find any bench to sit. Had to sit down near the chikka gadiyara to relax after roaming around the area. Cant say the place is not maintained as vegetable vendors and other vendors keep using the place hence throwing the garbage here & there even though there is regular cleaning done.

Dufferin Clock Tower also known locally as Chikka Gadiyara (meaning Little Clock) in comparison with the Bigger clock or Dodda Gadiyara that is near the Town Hall. It served as a time keeper during the reign of the Wodeyars, when wearing a watch was a luxury. Dufferin Clock Tower is a heritage structure in Mysore.Located at the end of Devaraja Market, close to the KR Circle. This clock tower was commissioned in honor of the then British Viceroy of India, Lord Dufferin. He was the first Viceroy of the colonial India to pay a ceremonial and friendly state visit to the invitation of the Maharaja of Mysore Chamaraja Wodeyar X in 1886. (Officially Lord Lytton visited Mysore some 10 years back, but on connection with the famine that plagued south India).

Mysiru HeritageRecently the surrounding is renovated .It is a market place.we visit here one day before any Hindu festival for festival shopping. We get all pooja and festival items for respective festivals. We can see many various fruit vendors and vegetable vendors. It will be too crowded here from morning 6:00 am to night 9:00 pm. And during festival times we cannot step into here.Parking is difficult. There are few one-ways attached to clock tower. So be careful otherwise police will catch for violating the traffic rules. The corporation was planning for musical evening here on special occasions. It might have implemented and also stopped as the Mayor changes every year.

A few years back you would have been forgiven for not noticing this tower because it was dump, street vendors and people had encroached this place and also haphazard parking all over. Thankfully the Heritage Department came forward and got the place vacated and together with the city council restored the lost glory of this beautiful place. It has benches around where you can sit and watch the hustle bustle of our Heritage City.

The space around the clock tower was formerly used by hawkers and vehicle parkers. The heritage department vacated the hawkers and emptied the space for development. In 2012, the city council completed the work of renovating the space around the clock tower with tiles and seats for tourists. The space is spacious enough to conduct small gatherings. The work was completed on a project of four million Indian rupees. Nine small fountains and 13 decorated lamps were added to the space. The place is now suitable for conducting small music concerts. [

The Clock tower is Historical place, As it is near Devaraja Market, it is surrounded by flower merchants and other sellers. Thanks to the MCC for the step taking to upgrade the area by placing stone benches/chairs people can spend their time there, elephant statues and stone tiles on the floor. Many street plays happened here.
