Nice way to spend a sunny Sunday! The park is not so big, but has many different sections. There is many construction going on though. This year They had a baby elephant called Otto, and he is the star now! Eisbear is also very cool! TThere are also many cafes inside, and interesting kids playground. The entrance fee is 15€, but if you gonna come more often I suggest you take the annual ticket, which is 49€. But for this you need to do at the counter, and they are very very slow.... Be prepared for that.
This is a very nice zoo which is designed like a nature preserve and the animals have a lot of space to roam around. We spent around 4-5 hours here and there were lots of kiosks for food/drinks, benches to sit on and shade from the sun. Finding parking was slightly difficult but we went on a Saturday afternoon.
Very good and huge Zoo. You can spend there the whole day. There are some simple caffes, many playgrounds, contact zoo with small goats. Aquarium in a separate building inside the Zoo, tropical house, some short shows. There is a possibility to buy a one day ticket or for the whole year .So, highly recommended for families with kids.
One of Germanys top zoos in my opinion. You can still see some history, but most animals are already in bigger enclosures and for others new enclosures are planned (you can see the masterplan inside the zoo even). It rained when we visited, but we still had a great time (and it cleared up after noon). Lots of places to get food too, which is always a plus.
REALLY Nice place. Many animals (all looks happy ) and many different places to eat.
Its a really good zoo. Takes almost half a day to go around. There are a couple of restaurants in it so you can eat and drink while you rest.
Nice zoo, very park-like with plenty of shade. Worth spending some time if you have kids. Expect service with a growl. A few better (think Leipzig), but definitely in the top 5
This zoo is absolutely huge and shows of a variety of amazing animals. Giraffes, monkeys, tigers and many more - the animals seem happy and their cages are big aswell. There are quite a few visitors but considering the size of the park, it didnt seem like a lot! There are a lot of food stalls, the dishes matching the area theyre in (example: north pole with the sea lions and polar bears: different kind of fish, chips and dips etc). The entrance price is definitely worth the trip! Its very family friendly and super fun! :)
Amazing place especially with kids. Other than that too its a nice place to look at the animals and have a nice bite at the restaurants around. Restaurants are strategically located at most corners.Vegetarian options and fish and chips available too.
The zoo is medium size if youre into animals but you wont miss out a lot at this zoo also. At Corona time some animals are off-limits but you still can see most. Parking cost 4 euro flat rate all day, but there is free parallel parking just nearby for just 4 cars. You can do more than zoo here, the Isa river is right there and when the weather is good you can do outdoor grill or hang hammock on trees. You also dont have to spend much on food if kiosks in zoo are expensive because theres Edeka nearby, stop and get your usual sandwich stuffs while coming from general stores in the area.Check in is fast and friendly, and English or German flier is available with maps. Bathrooms are nice, disinfectants available but expect free Wi-Fi.Animal are varied from all over the world but some of them are in such small place like the seal swimming reaches the end of the water in less than 10 seconds. I think for the amount theyre charging they can do better (my opinion).Good number of family places to hangout or change or feed kids. Its a good zoo but dont expect a wow experience.
Great place, the zoo is huge and lots of fun.
One of the best zoos Ive visited. Holding animals imprisoned is always questionable but at Munich they do this in the most natural way possible. And they are continously building new facilities so if you dont visit for some years, youll definitely have to go again. Really nice, and the animals look somehow relaxed.
Nice experience. The guys did a great job.Nice structured and easy to walk around
We were there on a day when it was overcrowded and very noisy. The poor animals looked clearly stressed. Most of them wanted to go back inside. Not sure why they are not able regulate visitor numbers. Another aspect which struck us immediately upon arrival is that the reserve is extremely small for large animals such as elephants and sealions in comparison to Cologne Zoo or Berlin zoo. Would recommend the management to look after their animals more than the guests.
Amazing zoo 😍😍😍Many species of animals. You need to watch the schedule because it is unforgettable when animals are fed. Don’t miss it.In addition, there are many cafes, so you can rest and drink delicious coffee.Amazing aquarium. There are a shark 🦈 and many beautiful fishes.I strongly recommend to visit Zoo😁
The best zoo in Bavaria. You can see any kind of animals and even touch a few of them (goats). There are many restaurants with German food (Currywurst, Schnitzel) and they taste good. Ive been there for so many times and it was every time a good experience.
Im morally conflicted about zoos, but that being said, as far a zoos go, this is a very good one. Its big, without being overwhelming. A family can easily spend all day here. Many animals, all well laid out. Many food and drink options. A huge playground area. It really is a nice day out.Just a word of warning in these covid times. Make sure to visit the website in advance and know what tickets you need. The cashier staff are not the friendly sort and there is no leeway if you havent got your ducks in a row beforehand
This is a nice family zoo. There are most animals someone would want to see, and many playgrounds and cafes with good food. We would return here in the future. On a slightly rainy day they did have a few animals inside, which is to be expected. Also, there were only two polar bears in the polar bear exhibit.
Drove an hour to get here, Stood in a queue for 50 minutes to be told we had to book on line, try to explain I did not have Internet there, woman was horrible and said tough we could not go in, I asked if I could stand to one side and try and sort it she said no, I had to book the day before, so no I would not recommend here
What amazing zoo!! The best one I have ever been to. I went with my little girl their she had amazing time in the summer. So many animals to see it took us 4 and half hours to walk around everywhere. So great for kids they can see all the animals very close!!!
Alot of animals here.Nice place to spend your free time.Save some Entrance fees.Restaurant and small kiosks inside here for food.
Amazing place to spend a day or more :) animals has plenty of place, kids many playgrounds, everything is clean and safe plus nice food in restaurants with veg option
The best zoo Ive visited. Very large aviaries, animals are active and well cared, easy to navigate and plenty of places with great views. Even in winter it is so nice. Definitely recommend visiting, especially considering affordable prices. Expect to spend here 5 hours to see all animals.
Nice place ❤ our kid was very happy and we had a lot of fun 🥳
I really appreciated how open the Zoo felt. Eating with my family next to the exhibits were a definite highlight. Food was fairly priced and kept us entertained for 6 hours.
You feel like walking in the forest
Zoo with a playground for children. We enjoy going Monday-Friday. On the weekend it is very crowded.
One of the best zoos Ive visited. They have a wide variety of animals. All animals are in their natural habitat. They have a special area for kids as well. Petting zoo is there and multiple play areas for kids. Plenty of restaurants and good facilities.
The Zoo is convenienntly located in a park, which is really easy to get to from the train station. The Zoo visit in winter was eye opening, with many indoor environment for animals despite the cold on new years day.The Zoo layout was simple and clearly labelled, and the animals are well taken care of and looked really healthy. The variety of animals is simply fantastic, and the kids really loved seeing the rhinos, elephants and lions up close.I would definitely recommend taking the entire day to stroll around, and enjoy the natural settings.
The most beautiful zoo I ever seen! A must go if you are in Munich
Loved the zoo. I wished there were more signs from the bus station to where the entrance is but we followed the othe people with kids and got there alright. All of the indoor exhibitions are currently closed because of covid. The park of the zoo is lovely and there was a great variety of animals. There was also a great playground and places to grab a bite. There were a lot of signs only on German which was a bit disappointing.
It was amazing. It was sunny and very buzzing. Kids enjoyed a lot
Huge forest in the middle of Munich with all kinds of animals. Great walking throughout the zoo
Its nice, but the animals look depressed.
This Zoo is one of the best i have seen in my Life. it was really cool to walk around on this flat area and it hase so so many specials to see. My tip is go early so u can enjoy the full park & there are not to much people in the early times. Whats special here,,, this Park is really flat & u feel like u are in the Nature not in a normal zoo park. enjoy and let me know what do you think about.🦒🐅🐊🐿🦅🦇🦉
Great place for children and adults alike. The park is quite big and is home to all sorts of animals - from tiny rodents, to huge elephants. Your first visit may take anywhere from 3 to 5 hours, depending on how curious and thorough you are (and how quickly you get tired from walking). Fortunately, theres no shortage of benches around every corner, as well as numerous restaurants and coffee houses. Havent tried the food yet, but the coffee aint half bad. Would strongly recommend.
Wide green spaces, extremely nice enclosures, and great walking areas make this a wonderful choice for a morning zoo trip. Walking and viewing all the animals is enjoyable even when pushing 4 hours at a leisurely pace. Definitely one of my top zoos I have visited.
Great place for family. Many many animal and you need about 5-6 hours to look at all. Best way is come here with subway.
One star less this time. I totally fine with the difficulties during covid time, but there was no mention on the web site about all the indoor enclosures closed. Places like aquarium and primate space were inaccessible.
Great place to go with the family. Some buildings remain closed for COVID reasons. 5-6 hours to visit with kids. Lots of fun.
It is a nice little zoo with a decent collection of animals including the Indian Rhinoceros, elephants, tigers and two majestic lions among others. The penguins are a delight to look at and a host of flamingos welcome you at the entrance.
Loved it. Can be reached via Tram or road. I was on tram. The walk way to the Tierpark was very good, its feels like you are walking in the woods. Bat cave is one of the speciality. For childrens and family its a best place to spend a weekend. Aquarium is also a speciality.
Great place to visit with Kids!! Family can spend an entire day. Information is written in English as well.
Wonderful zoo, spacious even when busy, many stops for wc and snacks and food. Lots of trees and little rivers. Definitely worth the entrance price.
A great place to walk around and see animals. Highly recommended for the whole family.
It is a nice zoo, many different species, the place looks clean and the animals seemed to be in a good healthy condition. But after all, it is still a zoo. Not too much space and it looks and feels a bit cold. We came there at 4 and the lady at the entrance was not very amused that we persisted on going inside for just an hour.
Less crowded on cloudy days. Well taken care animals, people in charge are knowledgeable. Great place to visit to understand our place in the world as humans
An incredible place for every animal lover. It was quite an experience to see who they treat them and carry about the animals. They are all very healthy and look happy. A place to visit at any date.
Amazing place, easily filled up the whole day. Really good entry prices, lots of accessible facilities dotted around, as well as a few parks for the kids. Plenty of things to see and do! Great family day out.
Very nice shaped zoo. Not always the appropriate sized enclosures for the animals, but much better than some other zoos in germany.
All indoor places are closed, but the price remained the same?? Not cool.
A really good day out. Reasonable admission price (€15 at time of writing) however credit cards are not accepted on the entrance so take cash or a debit card.A huge variety of animals and all seem to have decent sized enclosures with good viewing opportunities.Easy to get to on the U3 train. A worthwhile trip for any tourist or local.
Wonderful zoo with some of the most creative animal enclosures Ive seen. The price is good 33 euro for a family and you can spend the whole day at the zoo. There is a lot to see and do. The zoo has is own beer garden . During the winter a lot of the enclosures have the outdoor sections close but during the summer is extremely beautiful.
Very nice zoo. €33 for family of four. We spent quality 5 hours. They also have two fun kids play areas
One of our must visit places when in Munich. Lots of shades, animals well kept and treated. Wonderful playgrounds for kids. It has improved and expanded since 3 years ago. Favorite is the tallSlide!
Great place for kids to enjoy their day with enthusiasm. Lots of animals and very much organized zoo. Highly recommended for kids 🧒 .
Exquisite
I went on a rainy cold and very windy day and managed to see most of the animals! It is a beautiful zoo with many kid friendly areas I spent hours walking around and I enjoyed how clean it was. I really appreciate the animal enclosures they are very well kept and they care very much to make the animals feel as if they were in their habitat.
We had a great time in the Zoo.
Wow! Wow! Wow! I usually visit the Zoo in every city, but Hellabrunn Zoo in Munich has been the best one so far! Beautiful park, immense, super nice facilities and infographs..with no barriers (only natural ones) between visitors and animals. Happy animals for happy visitors. Highly suggested
Organization is terrible, there were hundreds of cars waiting for parking ( which took more than an hour) and then hundreds of people in the que on entrance with tickets, many without masks. They sell non-refundable daily tickets, not limited hourly ones like many places do, and apparently too many. We decided not to go in for our safety, despite having the online-bought daily tickets and a very disappointed child as a result.Reaching the customer service with the situation, they say that they cannot make people act reasonably, and they cannot do anything. So much money for such a terrible experience, we did not even enter after wasting so much time and customer service finds it so normal. Incredible!
Best Zoo Ive ever been to...and Ive been to many!! Animals all look happy and healthy :)
Wonderful zoo. If you get to munich with kids, its a must
Great place to visit with the family as there is enough to keep you occupied for the whole day. Although pricey, there is loads to see and do. Some of the animals include Tigers, Giraffes, Elephants, Polar Bears and Hippos! Great play areas for small ones, and there are numerous places to eat throughout the park. Highly recommended 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Probably the best zoo Ive been to. Very green Park, all areas are well maintained and everything is very clean. Nicely done paths. Loved it!
Great place to spend the day with the kids. Lots of animals to see. As always, I recommend to choose a non-busy day and to go early. Take good amount of food and dont expect to be done before 5.
I used to visited Zoos in many countries, but Germans reflect the most humane attitude. Animals are very very cared, and have huge space for living. All decorations are also looks very comfortable for animals living. Many specieses of our small friends are in family!!Great snacks at the out and indoor cafes as well.
We got a lot of fun in this place. Kids were happy to see many amazing wild animals so close. There are playground, cafes and some other nice places. Of course it depends of weather, but in sunny days it is wonderful place for kids and adults.
A must visit place if you are in Munich. Lots of space, good live feeding/show timings. There are number of English translations missing in some cases.
A very nice zoo. Lots to see and play. Both children and adults enjoyed. The only downside is you cannot purchase the tickets online, have to queue to get in. And during hot sunny weekend, it can be very busy, so get there early!
There is a large variety of animals to see here, all of which seem to be very well cared for. The park itself is quite nice, with plenty of restaurants, coffee shops, and kids playgrounds. A slow walk through it all--including a stop at one of the restaurants--may take 4+ hours, so plan ahead (and dress warm, if you visit during winter). All in all a great zoo--its an experience you shouldnt miss.
A beautiful child friendly place to learn more about wildlife . I saw almost every animal I wanted to see its a very big place one needs a good 2 or 3 hours to see everything. I would definitely go back. It costs 15 per adult person and one can also get a family ticket at a cheaper price.
Beautiful Zoo, best place to spend time and enjoy for adults and kids. It is a must to visit if you have kids. Multiple play grounds and restaurants. Just to note for entrance they have family ticket so do not pay for individual tickets as it will be more.
Really nice zoo near the river, The zoo is really big and there are so many animals to admire. The park also have some indoor section so even if the day is not so great you can still spend a nice day. I advice to visit in a sunny day to appreciate better the whole area.Interesting thing about the zoo is that there are some section where the birds or bats are free to go around.
The best zoo in EU so far.
Kids will love it is kind of open Zoo kids can interact with Goats or some other animals and the will love it as it’s very safe for them.
Big nice zoo with loads of different animals. Of course I suggest to go on a summer time, when all the animals are outside warm in the sun.
Really good zoo, the vest that I ever seen, al the animals have clean areas, they all have food, you can notice that they are having really good take care, for 15€ per person you can have a amazing day, we spent there 5 hours and a half, and we could see EVERYTHING, I took a lot of pictures and videos, bathrooms are clean, and you can find them everywhere (or at least every time that I had to go I found one 🤭), the attention of the people that work there are really nice, they have every kind of animals...!! You can go with your little kids, alone, with your family or partner, and you will have a nice day... itnis spectacular!! (Im not posting all the pictures but, Ill do it, just I need time, because theres a lot of pictures!!!) Super nice, you can have a different day there...!
Excellent! A real park with plenty of animals, very well maintained. The animals are perfectly kept in a habitat very close to their natural one. 😍
Very big park so wear comfy shoes. Great for kids and families.
A beautiful must go destination in Munich. Setting of zoo in a forest adds a lot to the experience. Make sure to watch any of the feeding times events. We made it to the Lion’s. The monkeys section is diverse and very enriching and entertaining. Only drawback is that most of the signs and information is in German. They need to have many more English signs for International visitors. Plan for 5 hours
I visited it, every year.__They need a healthier food & to be more clean.
Very nice environment for animals and visitors.
I really liked this zoo. I visited it with my family and my daughter just loved it. Most animals there arent kept in cages like you ordinarily see in zoos. I visited Amsterdams artis zoo which had a similar arrangement. But for my daughter, it was the first time she visited a zoo where animals are kept in this way, and she definitely enjoyed herself much more because of that. Dont miss it when you are in Munich. Even if you are not visiting with children the place is worth it.
Perfect place to hangout for a family or a date, or if you like animals. The zoo is enormous but out of the way.
Beautiful Zoo to visit! All the paths take you through little forests and little bridges over creeks while walking to the next animal enclosure. All the information signs are also translated into english. Nice way to spend your time in Munich.Giving only 4 stars because parking i not free. Charging 4 euros as parking fee regardless how long you leave your car is just too expensive when you consider zoo entry fees of 15 euros per adult person.
Loved it except for all the exhibits shut down due to covid-19
