Great spice and flavor - an excellent departure from the usual Bavarian classics, and a new staple.

We enjoyed this place so much. The owner is absolutely charming. He recommended great dishes and really knows how to treat his customers. The decor inside the store is very cute as well. It’s on the pricy side but to come here once in awhile totally fine.

Good to try Afghan dishes. We were sitting on the sidewalk due to Covid-19, but the inside also looks nice.

You taste the love and passion in each bite, even after fifteen years. A true gem!! There are three locations in München, each is owned by a brother, but the taste at all locations is consistently delicious. The original is in Elivirastraße.

Really good food. My first experience in a Afghan restaurant. The dish I had (36) really delicious, the rice with saffron, almonds, pistachios a good equilibrium of different species. Only problem the place is a bit small and it is divided in two different locations not connected.

The greatest sadness in my life is that this restaurant is only in München and the man who runs it refuses to open a branch in my Heimatstadt.Food is incredible and diverse in taste, service is great. Its a little more expensive than my usual places but its absolutely worth it.

Whatever we ordered, taste great. Flavours were very rich and intensive. My dish had too much cardamon, more into bitter side. So if youre not fan of it, better choose something without.Lamm was cooked in a great way, soft, delicious, melting in the mouth.Despite Monday evening, place was very busy. We were lucky to get there without reservation.Next time we will call to schedule.

The waiter was certainly not friendly, a little cheeky actually, and the service was poor and very slow. Four of us were given menus, we read the menus and decided what we wanted. Then when the waiter came back he dropped a bombshell.....we have no boiled food any more. Why not tell us when we get the menu ? now this would not be an issue only that half the menu is boiled !Anyway the starters were very small and some dishes were very spicy but it does not say on the menu. I asked the waiter about this but he argued with me until the cows came home.

Fantastic Afghani food. We were amazed by the delicate quality of the dishes, the chicken was as soft and juicy as butter, the sauces exquisite. This wont be our last visit!

Wonderful experience. Owner came over and explained all dishes. The lamb was very tender and the appetizers (especially the pumpkin sauce) are amazing.

Small place with great interiors. The rice is a delight, spicy in a memorable way. I really liked the interior and decoration with bright reds and an opulent feel. The prices are reasonable however the service is not great and borders on rude.

My favourite restaurant in the city. Delicious food and atmosphere. The portions could be bigger for the money, though.

Great food. Slightly expensive. Taking one star off because the server in the new Chopan spoke condescendingly. The old Chopan is a millions times better in experience and our server was gracious and served with a smile. There are two Chopan restaurants on the same street. When you call to reserve, specify whether you want a table in the old or the new one.

Far too disgusted by their way of speaking to a possible customer over the phone to even bother to visit them.So, I call the restaurant on Elvirastraße for a possible reservation for the evening and the not-so-gentleman on the phone does not even bother greeting or ask how he can help. His response and I quote Hello, yes, tell me..I ignore that and follow up asking if i could have a reservation for this evening. He asks me what time. So I say, I guess around 9. To which his response was, This is not a side(or some other similar sounding word) restaurant, you cant give me a guess of your time. I was flabbergasted with this amazing response! So I continue, saying at 9pm. He says, How many people?. To which I answer 4.His response, Okay, I cant hear you. Hello, hello! and then he just hangs up on me. I call them back three times and they dont bother to take the calls.My question to you, Chopan. Is this how you greet your customers and treat them at restaurants too?

The owner (or guy manning this) was extremely rascist & I would never visit it again.We were two Indian guys who had gone to this restaurant. When we entered in, half the restaurant was empty & it remained so for all our stay. There were no reserved signs on the empty tables. Yet, as soon as we asked for a table, the owner went pretending to check if any tables are available. While we stood there waiting, a German couple came along. He spoke to them in German but I could understand everything he said. They had no reservation but he immediately got them a two-seater table in a nice place in the restaurant. Then two minutes later of searching, he gave us a place in a corner. It was a large table already occupied by two people. We stuck along to see how much he could stoop too.We had our dinner & I went over to pay since we were having a hard time to call him. The waiter kept coming around & walking back pretending to not see.I gave him my card & he asked if it was Girocard. The owner piled on to ask that only German cards are accepted. I told yes that it was a Girocard & German. From his expression, I guess that he did not expect it. He probably was thinking that we were some guys who just came fresh off the boat from India or so. I also paid the waiter a tip in cash, though he didnt deserve any. This was my way of showing him that we are better than them!But overall, it was not a pleasant experience & I wouldnt visit this place again even if this is the only place open in Munich.But surely, rascists who will never see this will continue to blindly enjoy their food & appreciate this place!! Like the German couple who didnt hesitate to cut the line to take the table!

Leider wird das sehr leckere Essen hier von einem Service begleitet, der immer wieder ins unverschämte abdriftet.Eine bei der Wahl der Speise Unentschlossene Freundin wurde zum Beispiel recht aufdringlich zur Auswahl gedrängt und da der Chef lieber eine halbe Stunde mit anderen Gästen diskutiert gibt’s denn Wein halt erst nach dem Essen. Entsprechende Bitten oder Hinweise werden wegdiskutiert - immer nach dem Motto: der Gast weiß halt nicht was für ihn gut ist.Als Lieferdienst vielleicht u zu empfehlen, vor Ort bleibt aber meist ein fader Nachgeschmack trotz super Küche.

A different restaurant, both in terms of food and interior design. Outside there is a terrace, but it does not differ from the other terraces in the area. Exotic spices are used in the kitchen, different from those found in German or European cuisine, but this is what makes it special. If you want to try something different, its worth taking a look at the menu. Parking spaces found nearby, not very easy and not free. Public transport would be an alternative.

First I have to say that it is quite dark there, so the pictures are not particularly good either. But thats the food. We had the number 21 chicken with browned rice, raisins, carrots etc, once with spinach and once with eggplant. The eggplant cream is very tasty. We drank Dooch with it. We were there on a Wednesday evening without a reservation and got a seat without any problems.

Taste, smell, spices, optics: everything is great! Thats how you imagine it. The selection of original Afghan dishes is large and makes you want to try and enjoy several times.Prices: perfectly reasonable.In addition, there is a very successful ambience, a beautiful interior design like from 1001 nights with oriental flair and an absolutely pleasant atmosphere including Afghan music (which, thanks to the moderate volume, allows stimulating conversations without any problems).Conclusion: 100% recommendable.

The food is great and the restaurant an asset to the neighborhood. You can currently eat outside in the extended outdoor area in the traffic-calmed Elvirastr.

The food tastes really good because of the 5 stars. However, if you eat here you have to have eaten at home beforehand or at least order an appetizer because the portions are very small for 21.50 € per dish we came out hungry.

Since the Chopan on Elvirastraße was recommended to me many years ago, I have always been happy to come back. It is a short break in a different taste world.Both the meat dishes and especially the vegetarian dishes are exciting and balanced at the same time.I especially recommend the braised pumpkin and eggplant as a starter. Slightly spicy and a little sweet.My all time favorite is the lentil sauce with rhubarb and plums.Even my parents-in-law were thrilled.
