SEWRI fort in Mumbai built by the British in 1680, fort served as a watch tower, atop a quarried hill overlooking the Mumbai harbour.During winter flamingo is seen in abundance mostly dec ending and Jan. Jalalshah & Murad shah 2 Shrines/DARGHA make this place more religious. Can view new bridge construction work in progress....
Locating this Fort from road was difficult. As near by all HPCL and BPCL trucks stand. And when we drive more inside. A small patch is there which lead to the fort. Recently BMC has done the beautification work and its good. But cleaning is not done on a regular way as compared to sion Fort area. But the view is amazing from here... Birds has formed there homes. One can find peace here..
It is the best place which shows great engineering and gives accurate view flamingos. If any photographer reading this, I insist you to go to fort for good photos and that is the only place from where you can see flamingos. I am giving three stars because of the people how go there for hangout are responsible for spoiling the monument, the walls are carved by those people.whenever you go dont go alone if you are girl or minor thank you .
Gud historical place, but not at all maintained properly...
Not maintained at all. Sub standard slum area around. Wrbt on a cycle ride to take à glimpse of underconstuction Serwri Nhava Sheva Trans Harbour Link.. but did not get the best view.Did not find it safe for girls to ventre out alone
Sewri fort is one of best place for photoshoot at evening, females are not allowed on fort, for some safety purpose, but hoping development.
Very nice place . I love this place too much. One of the best place in mumbai. Very natural looking is this place. I send too much time here. It is the best place to spend time . I feel very peaceful when I reached here. Thats the reason why I love this place. I recommend you to visit this place with family and friends also. Historical place is this. Location is very peaceful environment and holly type. The view of sea is very osm. I cant explain it through words. Means endless end think about it. It looked like both sea and sky are meet at a place where some where. Like two different things are soggy their shoulder with tear. And the result is this ocean.
Amazing place to visit. Preferably in the morning as the view is great from there and there is no shade. The place is located at a remote location hence there are less people who visit it during the day time. One can spot flamingos and other bird also from the fort.
Cant call it a tourist spot, however if you are a Mumbai parent who wants to take their kids to something other than malls & also give them a dose of reality without prejudice, then its an option. Also is a very good vantage point to view Sewri bay area & the flamingos when they come. Can take your car & park on the side of the road or cycle down. Sewri railway crossing is not an option so be careful if using Google maps. Small uphill walkway to fort, easy to miss. Fort is pretty big & well maintained with good access.Currently closed due to pandemic. Better than worli fort which is also an option in Worli koliwada (no car). Both of them are safe for families. No point in mentioning Mahim fort.
Good place to visit. special for taking pictures.and most beautiful things is sun rise and sun set. In winter flemingo bird comes here
It looks like a pretty nice place. Lovely view.Only issue is that women arent allowed. My friend (another girl) and I walked in because we didnt see any signs and even stayed there for 45 minutes. Nobody said anything at first but after sometime someone shouted for us to leave and we left. The area didnt seem very safe either. If women arent allowed they should put up a sign that says so.
Its good but not that attraction
Unique place and getaway from Mumbai. Ladies and girls not allowed in fort. Nice view in the morning. A perfect sunrise point
Histrionic Place with Masjid beside it. Local people throw garbage and paste waste in the backyard. Not safe for Single women to travel.
Good Place To Visit. But ONLY AFTER 8 AM. Good Place For Photography ☺️.
Mumbai is blessed with so many forts strategically located at its coast line like Worli Fort, Mazagoan Fort, Madh Fort, Bandra Fort, Mahim Fort and Sewri Fort. Amongst all these forts I think Bandra Fort and Sewri Fort are decently taken care by the authorities. Sewri Fort is just about 1-2km distance from Sewri station. Its strategic location is such that you can enjoy sunrise ⛅ if you go early on the morning. A beautiful red sun coming out of Creek water presents magnificent view. Fort is relatively in good shape though its not a very big fort but its structure is very much intact. At one side of the fort is a huge Creek from where you can see classic Flamingo point where thousands of flamingo migrates every year to this place and from the other side of the fort you can see highrise buildings of Mumbai. There is also a Durga near to this fort with good number of huge trees around presenting a nice view soothing to the eyes. There is no security guards taking care of this fort and there is no entry fees also. We reached to this place on our cycles and found approach road in a good condition. If you visit to this Fort, dont forget to visit Flamingo point also which is half a km from this place. Dont expect too much from this place but you wont b disappointed if you visit this place.Hope you will find my review useful. I recommend you to discover this hidden and unknown place of Mumbai and spread a word so more n more people visits this place and authorities awakes to take good care of this fort.
It is sad to see such a historical place is not properly maintained.
Its a very quite and shady area .. i suggest you to go in grp if you want
Nice secluded place but not recommend for girls tho
Nice fort to have a far glimpse of flamingos.but not maintained.
Must visit at this place
Quite shady. No transport available to reach the nearest station.
Remains of old sewri fort ..... good for pre wedding/couple photo shoots..... avoid visiting during night time ....... good view of arabian sea ..... good to capture sunrise
Fort is Strong and has proper structural remains... Only thing that local people made it dirty..
Dirty place
The place is unsafe for women.. The locals asked us not to get inside the fort as it is crowded by vile men. One could see from outside people consuming alcohol and their very appearance seemed loathsome. Also we could hardly see any taxis or rickshaws taking us to the spot although its not more than 10 mins walk for young people from the station. Ola and Uber can be booked if one is not travelling by train. The flamingo point is another 5 -10 mins walk from the fort. Got to know that one must visit the place in early morning hours to catch a glimpse of flamingos possibly
One of the best well preserved fort amongst all the forts of Mumbai. Most of the structure is intact and is being restored and maintained by Mumbai Fort Circuit Project under Department of Archaeology and Museums. The fort was built by the British in 1680 on a 60 m hillock on the Parel island to ward off frequent attacks by Siddis. It has high stone walls all around with an inner wall. The entrance is a stone doorway that leads into a courtyard. To prevent enemy directly charging from the main entrance, the inner entrances are placed perpendicular to the main entrances. Architectural highlights include pentagonal room along with a long domed corridor, and linear vaulted structures, central courtyard which is around 60 x 20 feet. Two partially underground vaultsThe fort is worth a visit with family in the evening. From the highest point above the entrance gate, the fort offers grand views of the Sewri Mud flats, Refineries, Elephanta Caves , JNPT Port and even view of the main land. One can also walk to the nearby Sewri Mud Flats where your family can enjoy watching flocks of flamingoes at a very close range (during Dec-March period).
Verynice place
The Sewri Fort is a fort in Mumbai built by the British at Sewri. Built in 1680, fort served as a watch tower, atop a quarried hill overlooking the Mumbai harbour.Best point observe the beautiful sceneries of mumbai at early in the morning.
Sewri FortThe Sewri Fort in Mumbai was constructed by the British in 1680 as a watchtower. It was built when Portugese were still in Mumbai. Overlooking the Mumbai Harbour, this fort today has small inner entrances. People can enjoy stunning views of the harbour from atop the fort which is a reminder of British period in the country.
Peace
Quite small be beautiful place.. spaces are will in proportion.. difficult to reach but worth a try
Amazing place. But tourists have strewn garbage around. So careless!
Sewri fort is very old built by britishers, its petrolling tower for harbour area,

Best place in mumbai to watch such forts
The fort is very well rebuilt. But there are a lot of couples and smoking on the fort.
Not at all maintained. Do wear good shoes, very slippery climb.Best time to visit is around 0730 - 0830. Amazing sunrise views.
Historic fort and a sight to glaze flamingos.
Old fortdifficult to notice from main roadit is now under renovation so closed for tourist
THE PLACE WHERE U FIND PEACE ✌️ MUST VISIT ❤️
Good place for spotting some flamingos in their migration period . A little low om yhe cleanliness side but worth visiting for the infrastructure.
Sewri fort is really a old fort in Mumbai. But there is little provision for the tourist here. The state government is required to make some arrangement for this.
Its mind blowing location but need to maintain better
Amazing sea facing view with some flamingos
Fort is nice but its not in good condition in inside. But you can see the view of sea from the fort.

Good place to visit within the city limits
Historical place near actually in mumbai. Nice place for bird watching as siwri/mahul creek near by,
This place is so awesome
The fort is just 5 mins walking distance from sewri railway stn. It is a nice place to explore. Bit off limit on weehours
Nice place but all time I see drug users are coming there and police have to see this also
Fort closed
Placed near dongar baba dargah.Nice place located near sea site. Not allowed to visit without permission.
Really disappointed to see Muslims encroaching on the space of a historic fort. There are police quarters nearby but the fort is in a very dilapidated condition. The dargah built on the fort, and M. people have actually placed their cloth on the fort entrance with a bamboo to create a false impression that the fort entry is not allowed. I am really disappointed at Maharashtra government authorities for allowing that to happen at such a historical place.
Sunrise!!🌞
Its a great place with a dargan which has a beautiful view
Flamingo point, Transharbor link
A holy sacred place dargah shareef of hazrat jalalshah murarshah then comes the sewri fort
Very nice. Structure is intact. Neglected place.
Op place must visit by young ones
