A nice peaceful temple atop one of three monolithic mountains of the world! The temple is neatly maintained, there is a cold drinking water basin. The view from up here is simply awesome. Experience it to feel it.

This Gaondevi Mandir is one of the two temples built atop the Gilbert Hill, a 61-metre high monolith structure in the Andheri West area of Mumbai formed over 60 million years ago from the deposition of moldten lava.It is in the danger of getting collapsed due to the unplanned erection of buildings here. The Gaondevi Temple is on top of this hill can be accessed by taking stairs that have been carved out the rock and now the stairs are broken and could collapse any time due to a big crack so the temple in now inaccessible as the only way up are the stairs which are not in use now.The beautiful temple, made all in white, is dedicated to Goddess Durga and also has a garden with lush green grass. Its a perfect place for peace seekers in the heart of the bustling city. The views of the whole city in a complete panorama is ideal for some nice clicks too.

Amazing place after a tiring climb of steep stairs for atleast a height of 250 feet. The views from the above are good. The other good thing is the 66 million old rock near to it which is unknown to many.Some temples can be very crowd but thanks to the steep and difficult ride there seems to be less riders.

Very nice place. One can relax for the day here. Nice mild breeze is there through out the day. The mandir is in nice condition, very well maintained. The nearby area is also good. They have made water arrangements for the visitors as well. The temple closes at 12pm in afternoon and again open at 4pm. Down the temple you can get all you want.

This temple is located on top of a 66 million year old rock hill called Gilbert Hill in Andheri West.There are about 100 steps to climb to reach this temple of Goddess Durga.Also worshipped here are Lord Hanuman and Lord Ganesha.The sunrise and sunset are a beautiful watch from here.The place is not crowded as of the year 2019.You may find flowers to offer to the God at the first climb of the hill.The neighborhood is unkempt and non very developed.

A very nice experience, in the middle of the town, a temple on a black hill. I took a path through an almost Islamic neighborhood, quite an essence of Mumbai. The quite on the top of the hill is the opposite of the dinamic life of the neighborhood.

Wonderful views from the top. On a clear day, can even spot some oil rigs way out into the Arabian Sea. Open from 4pm onwards.

Shri Gaon Devi Mandir is really a beautiful, I repeat, b e a u t i f u l temple! Not just the good vibes but the idols as well are very attractive! I visited this temple in January 2019 and enjoyed a spectacular sunset. If you are planning to visit this temple atop historic #GilbertHill , which you should, then either chose a sunrise or sunset timing! Although Google maps will guide you but prefer asking locals for shortcut and correct directions. Lastly, be prepared to walk for approx.150 steep steps! Loved the calmness and positive vibes of #GaonDeviMandir :)

So,The structure is pretty fascinating although not gigantic, Theres a very different vibe when you reach at the top. Also,The stairs are damaged because of heavy rains. So request you all to be careful while visiting. Never visit during the night time(which I did) I started to feel panicky as i was walking down because of paucity of street lamps.

Located on high Hill, You can feel the Nature and Cool breeze here. Everyone must visit there and spend there time there specially Hindus For prayers.

Quiet place, about 200 steps to go up but once u r there its a complete peace of mind.The temple is not often crowded except some special occasions.

The access to the top of the hill is currently restricted as a part of it has withered away due to rains in Mumbai this year. Climate change or BMC. You decide.

Temple is nice and it is above the hill( known as gilbert hill or pahad in local hindi). It takes about 5 minutes to reach temple from the foot of hill. Best time to visit is evening coz temple gate is closed sometimes at 2-3 pm so go at that time when more people are there. Temple has also a small garden and also you can feel cool breeze and view scenery from top. The area surrounding this hill is fully packed with slums and buildings so you may not get that much happiness when You see from top only some part looks green others are just slums and other structures. Nice Temple to Visit with Family

Great historical and spiritual vibes of the 6.6 billion years old heritage. You will find a clear view of Mumbai City from top of this hill as its surrounded by slums and buildings all around. The place is well maintained. When I had went the place was under renewation so I prefer to visit mostly at the end of year 2020 because may be by that time the work would have completed

This is a small temple located on top of Gilbert Hill which in itself is one of the greatest monument. Temple was renovated very recently and anyone who wants to visit the temple has to climb 150-200 steps, no other option. The view from the top is not so great as it is surrounded only by slums.

An interesting place to see within Mumbai. A temple built atop a column of monolithic rock right in the middle of city! You get a stunning panoramic view of the surrounding from the top, especially in the evening. But you have to pass through the narrow lanes to reach to this hill.

This is a geological wonder. Volcanic rock. No efforts have ever been made to preserve it. The access road is surrounded by filth.

A historic place, it is located on a hill in andheri west, near from andheri station. There are steps to be climbed, after climbing you get a superb view of the place.

While I hate to give only 2 stars to a large basalt rock that is supposed to be 65 million years old, its just because the road to get there is dirty. In addition, the steps that lead to the temple at the top of the hill have broken due to the heavy rains so there is no access. The guard at the foot of the steps said there will be no access for at least a year

All facilities like drinking / chill water, washroom is also available there... 1-2 hours is enough for gaavdevi temple

If you have to believe what is written and read about this monolith which is 6.6 million old, then it is awesome. Just 200 ft height. And there is a temple of Gaodevi right at the hill top. There are good nicely built stairs. While interacting with flowerist, I was told that appointed days are Tuesdays and Fridays where a large number.ber of people visit the temple. There are two ways to reach there - one opp Bhawans college and other is from SV Road side.

Special temple of Devi in terms of its location on a hill. After the stairs you found an amazing temple with a amazing view of Andheri helibase etc.
